Amazing Service!! My dog is a very scared baby when he sees any vet. He's the dog known everywhere to snap at people lol. He went in to the exam shaking and came out calm. That's when I knew Dr Tsugawa was great energy :) I warned Dr Tsugawa's staff prior to him going in for the exam, that my dog may not let him look in his mouth but Dr Tsugawa was the only person my dog has ever willingly let look. My dog had dental surgery today. I dropped him off at 10am. Around lunch I received texts from Dr Tsugawa of the the X-rays and his thoughts. He phoned soon after to clarify and see if I had any questions. We went ahead with the procedure. I received a text as soon as my dog was awake and normal around 12.30pm. At 2pm I picked him up. He was alert but a little unwell, as expected. Dr Tsugawa came out to speak to me, his staff clearly and slowly explained the medication to me and I was good to go home. I liked that Dr Tsugawa only wanted my dog on one medication for a few days for the pain/swelling rather than having a bunch of medications, which other vets always seem to prescribe after surgeries. The entire process start to finish was so smooth, clearly communicated and my dog is now at home resting and on the mend. Even at home I texted Dr Tsugawa a few questions and he responded promptly. I want to thank Dr Tsugawa and his team for the great service. I have already recommended you to friends.

The care my dog got at Culver City Dog and Cat Dentist was absolutely exceptional! When I found a tumor in my dog Charlie’s mouth, they fit me in the day after I called!!! They had a cancellation. Dr. Tsugawa moved swiftly to schedule him for a biopsy—he had the procedure the day after our initial consult.During the consult, Dr. Tsugawa sat with me for as long as I needed to answer all of my questions. I didn’t feel rushed at all. It truly felt like Charlie and I mattered to him and he cared about Charlie’s well being. The doctor’s knowledgeability had me immediately relieved that I’d chosen to see a specialist in the dentistry field. I should mention that I sought the opinion of three different vets to verify that Dog and Cat Denistry was the best place for us to seek care for Charlie’s oral mass and they all unanimously supported us going there (I highly suggest you look at Dr. Tsugawa’s credentials and accomplishments on Dog and Cat Dentist’s website to support why he’s the person to go to). Before the biopsy was even done, Dr. Tsugawa got Charlie tentatively on the schedule just in case the results came back as something aggressive as many oral tumors are (even though the schedule was busy the day he added us, he was going to make room to squeeze Charlie in—thankfully we ended up not needing that urgency as his mass was slowing growing and only locally aggressive, so Charlie had surgery three weeks post-biopsy). It was less than a month from when I’d first found the mass to when it was fully excised.Charlie needed to have the mass removed from the caudal (back) roof of his mouth, including the underlying bone that was impacted and three teeth. Dr. Tsugawa skillfully performed the procedure and grafted skin from Charlie’s jowls to reconstruct the roof of his mouth. The skin graft was so cleanly done and he got clean margins! No one but me will ever be able to tell looking at Charlie that he had that kind of procedure. Now I’ll share the parts that were most shocking about Charlie’s care at Culver City Dog and Cat Dentist—I’ve never experienced anything like it in his 9 years of care. During both the biopsy and surgeries I was receiving emails and/or texts updating me on the progress. Ie. “FYI, all is going well. We just got the CT completed and will be starting the biopsy shortly. Will call you soon to provide an update.” Photos while he was sleeping were shared with me to help me understand the scope of the work being done (ie. During biopsy he used a special kind of pen to draw on the roof of Charlie’s mouth to show me the area that would need to be removed (they had taken a CT scan)). I’m an anxious dog mom because my boy is my whole word. So there aren’t words to express what that meant to me.Post surgery was even more shocking in the level of follow up care! Dr. Tsugawa was consistently texting to check in and answer any questions. I had direct access to him (I didn’t have to go through an office assistant or anything like that) and he was very quick to respond to any questions, even after hours. I can’t tell you what peace of mind that gave me. It is so unbelievably rare to have that level of care and devotion! Dr. Tsugawa’s patients clearly matter to him a great deal and this is more than just a job to him!I consistently thought about how much I wish all medical care could be so personalized both for myself and for my dog.Dr. Tsugawa at Culver City Dog and Cat Dentist is an incredibly knowledgeable, skilled, professional, empathetic, dedicated veterinary dentist. I wholeheartedly recommend this practice and believe you won’t do any better than here for your pet’s dentistry needs.(I’ll add that I have pet insurance and the practice was very helpful in getting everything in order so that the procedures were covered without any hitches)

Dr Winer and her team are incredible. Our sweet little dude needed a lot extractions . She spent an hour in consultation with us and answered all our questions. She called me during the procedure. Everything went great and he healed great. She then went above and beyond and wrote an appeal letter to his insurance that was denying the bill. I am a human physician and I know how much work goes into this - it means the world to us that she is putting effort into it. I am grateful to the team and Kaju will hopefully not need any more extractions for some time - but if he does we'll be back here.

Dog and Cat dentistry made the experience of my dog’s dental surgery one of great care, support, and expertise. After my daughter’s recommendation—having had a wonderful experience for her small dog, I sought out the care of this practice. My 6 pound Pomeranian was a somewhat high risk patient due to his heart condition, and I had been unable to find a veterinary dental practice in my Northern California locale that seemed to care about his needs. After having met Dr. Miner, and speaking to Dr. Tsugawa, I felt that we were in great hands. And we were! I can’t speak more highly about a practice where the pet’s well-being comes first and foremost, and their response to the owner’s questions and concerns was met with kindness, respect, and a sense that they cared almost as much as you do for your precious animals. I highly recommend this practice for any of your pets dental needs.

Obviously it's very expensive, but they're really great. Both my cats needed complete teeth removals due to stomatitis. Dr. Winer kept me updated throughout the day on how it was going which was really great especially because I was so nervous. Kind of wish I could take them to her for every visit Additionally they respond super fast to emails which is great. I also like that they offer a same day evaluation and surgery as my cat hates the car so I prefer to only go once.

An unparalleled doctor and practice. Dr. Tsugawa and his entire team went above and beyond to provide my pom with the highest level of care. Not only are they phenomenal medically, but they worked with me tirelessly to create room in the schedule to accommodate a time that worked for me and then did the same for my mom who is an out of town patient. More than just a medical provider, Dr. T cares about his patients, both animal and human. I won’t take my dog to anyone else and have even recommended people outside LA make the trip to see this doctor because he is that special. I highly recommend this wonderful practice. I won’t go anywhere else.

Disappointing. They don't take walk ins and they have a 2 month waiting period.

Dr. Tsugawa is an exceptional physician. Caring, attentive, intensely skilled, transparent and very accessible. I brought my 5lb Pomeranian to Dr. Tsugawa for a dental cleaning with extractions. He updated me every step of the procedure and continued to check-in each day after. So impressed and pleased to have found this wonderful doctor and practice.

Dr. Winer is amazing and truly cares for her patients. Came here for my 11 week old pups underbite. Her bottom canines were piercing through the roof of her mouth and needed to get them surgically removed before it got worse. Dr. Winer did a wonderful job at explaining why the surgery had to take place. I was really concerned about the anesthesia because my pup was so young but she answered all my concerns and questions thoroughly with patience and kindness. It took me about two weeks to decide what I should do and when I decided to do the surgery, I called to make an appointment but the receptionist told me they were booked close to two months out and the next appointment available would be late August. I was worried because I knew it would not be good for my pup to wait that long to get them removed. I remembered Dr. Winer telling me on the first visit to let her personally know when I decide to make an appointment. So I emailed her asking if she can possibly squeeze my pup in before August. She responded back immediately and was able to squeeze my pup in three days later. My pups surgery was successful with no complications. The staff were amazing and so kind to her. They made sure to let me know to email Dr. Winer anytime if I had any questions. You can tell she really loves what she does and she's great at it too. They are a bit pricey but honestly it's totally worth it. They provide high quality care to their patients. I highly recommend this place.

Dr. Winer is amazing. You can tell she deeply cares about animals and her work. She is up to date on the latest evidence based medicine. I absolutely trust her with my cat's care. She managed to salvage one tooth from extraction. She also responded to me via email on a Sunday when I had a question! No doubt-- your pet will get great care at this office if you can wait on their appointment turn around time and you have the $$ funds (and insurance!). Of note- they do intake in the morning and surgeries in the afternoon. Felt a bit sad for my kitty to be held all day without food- but more so scared and alone for hours. Coincidentally, my other cat needed specialized dental care- so I am able to compare different protocols. The other pet dentist I went to had a separate intake date- and then a scheduled surgery date so there was no wait- but there are 2 trips. Front desk - they don't often answer the phone- but call back if you leave a message or send an email. I get the feeling they are overworked- and have a large volume of calls/inquiries. This is because there are very few certified pet dentists- which is why I ended up with 2 appts for 2 offices for 2 cats- I basically took what I could get ASAP. The average wait in LA seems 2-3months. Lots of folks probably call asking for appts and inquiring about cost estimates- so front desk prob takes a lot of calls. If you cat needs routine dental care, you likely don't need to use this office, and are better off with a general dentist. Still, compared to the pet dentist my other cat went to in Irvine-- the other pet office seems to run a lot smoother- and were much better at communication. Staff there seemed happier and more eager to assist. Pricing is slightly cheaper. Of course neither place is without its negatives. See my review for the other place.

Dr. Tsugawa went above and beyond for my two dogs and I. I scheduled dental cleanings for them both and, after giving them both exams, he told me only one of them needed a cleaning, as the other dog’s teeth were already clean enough with daily brushing. They didn’t even charge for the exam. I was fully prepared to pay for two cleanings and not one so it was a pleasant surprise to hear the second dog didn’t need one. He easily could have done the cleaning anyway but chose to be honest about it in the best interest of the dog. He very clearly prioritizes the well-being of his patients over profits.

Our kitty's face swelled up just prior to an out of state move and we bought our cat to Dr Winer to get a second opinion. Following her examination, she called us and spent as much time as we needed to get all our questions answered and provided recommendations. After our move, we contacted her again to get her input regarding an upcoming dental surgery for our Miss T. We found Dr Winer to be very responsive as well as an outstanding and caring professional. She was generous with her time and we will always appreciate everything she did to help us take the best care of our fur baby.

I am not a "Yelper" but i wanted to get the word out about Dr Tsugawa and his amazing assistant Jody. My 19 year old cat who is being treated for Kidney disease had "severe" stomatitis and unaddressed gum issues had not received his regular care (due to Covid) and was suffering. I was in high anxiety due to his age but had to take the risk. We were able to get a consultation and discussed everything. Buttercup was the perfect patient. The Dr. texted me when he was about to start the procedure - i was in the waiting room until they finished and breathed a HUGE sigh of relief when he came out 45 min later and said he did great. Today was our two week follow up...he is on the mend and eating his crunchies again. I am eternally grateful for the skill and compassion shown to us by this wonderful practice.
