We've been members for 40 years. That is recommendation enough as there are choices. We choose Temple Akiba of Culver City.

I have been a m ember of Temple Akiba for over 30 years. It is my home away from home. Love the variety of services, classes and activities. Everyone is welcome to the services and many of the adult classes. The over night camps and retreats are very popular and worthwhile. A great way to explore Judaism, positive values and make friends.

Temple Akiba is a very family friendly welcoming community. There's a very large children's program and Hebrew school, my son has over 20 kids in his class. Some classes are as large as 30. The Rabbi is very inspirational and the Cantor is just incredible. They both make the services really fun and uplifting. The newly remodeled building is beautiful and I love the way it flows from the sanctuary to the in enormous community room which is used for oneg on Shabbat and Israeli dancing. There are wonderful events here during the year including their Purim carnival, mitzvah Day, passover dinner and a host of other events.

We love Temple Akiba and hope to make this place our home Temple. Rabbi Shapiro is truly a gift and it is a pleasure learning from him every week. The community is warm, welcoming and big huggers which I like! Temple Akiba also has ECC where my nephew attends and he loves it there.

I finally have a Rabbi and a Temple to call my own. I am so proud to call Rabbi Zach Shapiro my Rabbi. His energy is amazing and inspiring. Rabbi Zach taught Judaism 101 which was a great learning experience and overview of Jewish Holidays, traditions, history and culture. Rabbi Zach officiated my wedding at Temple Akiba and the ceremony was special and perfect. I love going to events in the beautiful sanctuary. It is wonderful to see the kids or have a meaning discussion. Kabbalat Shabbat happens one Friday a month and it is a Shabbat service focused on music and singing. There are so many ways to be of service and get involved at Temple Akiba. My family has embrassed Temple Akiba and I look forward to growing with the community.

I have been a member of Temple Akiba for over 20 years and I wouldn't think of going anywhere else. The community is warm, welcoming to all, and has activities for everyone, from Torah study to movie nights to holiday celebrations. Rabbi Zachary Shapiro and Cantor Lonee Frailich are very warm and spiritual people who are able to share their love of Torah through their sermons and music at our Friday night services, at Torah study on Saturday morning, at our Lunch and Learn programming, and through teaching our children in school. There is an active Sisterhood and a Men's Group that sponsor great activities too. Also, Temple Akiba has a wonderful Early Childhood Center and Religious School program, and an awesome summer camp program - both Day Camp and Resident Camp! Our Resident Camp has been going on for over 50 years! The current director of the camp grew up at Temple Akiba and went to the camp when she was a child. We have many multi-generation families who are members because Temple Akiba is that kind of place!

Warm, friendly, and spiritual. Rabbi Shapiro and Cantor Frailich ensure that each service is fulfilling. They have found the perfect mix of traditional and contemporary melodies in the music and Rabbi's sermons are always thought provoking. Both the Rabbi and the Cantor are always engaging. I also enjoy the Saturday morning Bible study.

If there is a nicer, friendlier, rabbi, we've never met him or her. We're huge fans of Rabbi Zachary. He's a pleasure to be around and to listen to.

The best part of our wedding was the service. Rabbi Zach Shapiro explains every ritual he does before conducting it so that everyone of all denominations understands the meaning and purpose of different parts of the ceremony. Jews, non-Jews, and non-practicing Jews all commented on how great the service was. The Rabbi is young and hip (bonus points for conducting the service using an iPad) and he managed to personalize the service based on our wishes and our own feelings about each other. My complaint about other weddings I've been to is that the service often feels impersonal and generic. We met with the Rabbi several times before we got married and he did a good job of answering our questions, making us feel comfortable, and incorporating our own personalities in the wedding ceremony. Services at this temple are also very good.
