Check-in time is 3:00pm, showed up at 4:00pm and room was not ready. They offered to downgrade our room to get us checked-in quicker, but I chose this hotel because of the jacuzzi in the room. Waited another 40 minutes before our room was ready. They did credit us some for the inconvenience. I wish they did without having to be asked. Plus side is the hotel is quite. It's located on the street and it was rare that we heard the traffic.Rooms: Nice, spacious rooms. Shower had a slow drain so it pooled up water quickly.Walkability: Several choices of restaurants within walking distance. At least 5 food choices across the street.Food & drinks: Breakfast was decent. They change the menu everyday. There is a neat pancake maker. Press "ok" button and the machine makes 2 pancakes.

stayed at room 236. The reason i am stating the room number is because it could be just this room's problem.1. This room smells like wet dirty dog. We do not have dog allergy but we sneezed a lot in this room. Maybe because of all the cakey old dust behind the fridge etc..2. The bathroom sink is not leveled. When you reach for the soap and drip some water on the countertop, all that water goes to a side, eventually drops to a cave where holds the extra tp. So when you're done with your already wet tp, you reach for extra tp that is already wet and seasoned with dirty water. The more you use the sink the more you have the big floor puddle.3. Our room is on the side where the entrance is outside aisle like highway motel style. So all the outside wind, noise come through. The room could be warm with the heater but the livingroom would be still cold.4. Breakfast, coffee machine, staffs are nice. The hotel was more like a cheap motel.Rooms: The room smells and looks like it's 30 years old. It really smells like a dog on a rainy day. There's a TV cabinet like this, and there's dust in the back that looks like it hasn't been cleaned in years. It's loud and noisy. The entrance is not an internal hallway, but just outside, so all the noise from outside comes in very clearly. From ambulances, fire trucks, sirens, people coming in from the room next door drinking and giggling, footsteps, etc. And the cold wind blows in through that door, so the living room where the sofa is is cold in the winter regardless of the heating.Perhaps because it's an old building, there's no place to charge your phone near the bed. Like other hotels, you charge it on the nightstand, but since there isn't one, you have to unplug the alarm clock from under the bed and charge it. Feels like a motel from the late 80s

We were visiting Dana point to go whale watching and this hotel turned out to be the closest to the harbor where the cruises take off. The rooms are clean and comfortable; staff are friendly and responsive. Breakfast is included but could definitely do with a nutritional upgrade in terms of more vegetables. On the last day, some chopped vegetables were on offer besides the scrambled eggs which made for a much more nutritionally balanced and flavorful breakfast. Overall a positive experience.

Very overpriced for how run down it is. Our air conditioner was loud and humming the entire time. It also decided to error on us while we were out for the entire day and we came back to a sauna. Plugs all need replacing everywhere, our cords fell out no matter which ones we tried. House keeping came before 9:30am so we missed them for the entire day (they only swap out towels) They allow animals so we ended up with a barking/howling dog off our bedside wall. They don’t bother to ask you about your stay when you check out so they clearly don’t care how your stay was. Many rooms had out of order signs on them and it just felt dingy and desperately needs an update, especially for the price point. Location is good and breakfast buffet was good but other than that, I definitely wouldn’t recommend.

We loved our stay here! Me and my sister stayed, and she had her baby with her. The hotel provided a crib. Having the separate rooms was perfect- he slept in the other one. The beds were comfortable, my sister considered using the sofa pullout but it was not very comfy. The location is great! Just a quick walk to the beach, and a couple blocks from stores. Breakfast was awesome.

If you're going to Ohana in Dana Point...This hotel may seem old school but...Service was great. Staff helpful and friendly. And breakfast was really good each day...Coffee machine spit me out about 40 shots of espresso each morning. People were chill and the walk to Ohana was short... Rib Joint is still next door... food there is good and so is the music. Gas station next to that... McD's,, Starbucks and Taco place right across the street... oh so is Jersey Mike's for a quick munch too... really convienent...Will be back next year...Rooms: 2 room king...Bathroom cleanBed was comfortableBalcony to listen to Ohana across the street.Breakfast is surprisingly good...Walk across to Ohana.Easy peasyNearby activities: Ypu can be at the stage in 15 min or less... easy walk to Ohana. Plenty of food to choose from 50 yards from the doorsWalkability: Parking and traffic or a shuttle to Ohana then drive... ??? Naaa... stay here ... leave the car for a few days... won't need to drive anywhere if you don't want to

This place was one of my most FAVORITE places I've ever stayed at, ever. The suite we stayed in was incredible!!! It was so luxurious and even had a separate living room. For those nights, one person wants to go to bed, and another still wants to watch TV. All balconies face towards the street which overlooks the water in the distance. Fast food and Starbucks are right across the street, but don't look all run down. The area looks very updated and nice. I loved the full breakfast bar. It was like going to a buffet. They have a pool and gym, we didn't go to but that's nice. They also have computers and print abilities in the lobby. The beach is about a 5-7 minute walk away as well. This place deserved 10 stars! Staff was extremely friendly. We will definitely be back!!Walkability: Can walk to the beach in 5-7 minutes

I visited Dana Point, CA in August 2023 and stayed at BW Plus Marina Shore hotel. On the exterior, it seemed okay but the interior was something left to be desired. It was old and outdated with musty smell. The light switches didn’t work, had to turn on each lamp. The hvac was either too cold or too hot. It was hard to get it on consistent temperature. The main issue was that my friend had requested 2 double beds and instead of asking her if she wanted an upgrade, which wasn’t an upgrade by far, they gave her 1 king bed. When she checked and attempted to undo their upgrade they told her they would have a 2 bed the following day. When I arrived to inquire the following day, they told me they were aware of 2 bed room request but could only speak to my friend as the reservation was under her name. By the time she got back to the hotel, later that same day, they told her they no longer had 2 bed room and could not accommodate her. The front desk people were not nice and I would never recommend this place. The only saving grace was the location which was walking distance to the beach and restaurants.

Wonderful staff doing great customer service. From the front desk staff to the breakfast room team to housekeeping, everyone made us feel welcome and well taken care of. Walking distance to the beach and the harbor, and close to places to eat. We will return.

This hotel is just OK as there is both good and areas for improvement. We were greeted during check-in by a friendly person behind the counter. The check-in process was smooth and we received a very nice gift bag with some treats to take to the room. The rooms themselves are clean and smelled good but have some definite aging. The bathtub is stained from extended use, the toilet paper holder is rusted and the door sometimes requires you to put you shoulder into it to get it open. The balcony on the two room suite has a nice view but the seating is so low that if you sit down, you look straight in to the cement wall. Maybe code prevents them from doing so, but high sitting furniture would be a welcome addition. Here’s the bad part. If you want your room cleaned everyday and your bed made, it isn’t going to happen. We requested numerous times for housekeeping to do so but it never happened. In addition, our towels were taken one day and they didn’t leave any new ones. The next day they took our towels but left us with fewer for some reason. I also requested a new liner for our ice bucket and we were given a giant garbage bag. To top it off, we went outside on our balcony one evening and the pot smoke was so thick from the people next door we had to go back inside. They have no smoking signs on the balconies but apparently it doesn’t do much good. Also, other neighbors were smoking (cigarettes) each morning outside just outside the entrance to the rooms. If you want a true non-smoking hotel, I’m not sure this is the place. The nicest thing about the hotel was the young lady that was working the breakfast area on Thursday morning. She went way out of her way to make everyone feel welcome and offered a lengthy list of things to see and do. I wish I would have gotten her name because she deserves a raise. We also had several of our cable channels go out during a football game and the maintenance guy who was doing the repair did everything in his power to get it back on. He couldn’t have been more helpful. The hotel is located a short walk from the shore and there are quite a few things to do in the immediate area including a 4 mile hike/walk which takes you through a conservation area, the beach, sea wall, and through an area with some gorgeous homes.Checkout was smooth and pleasant. Everyone at the counter was friendly and helpful. I’m sure it’s a leftover from the COVID era but the gigantic plexiglass between the staff and customers reminds me of a convenience store more than a hotel.

So we came in as part of a very long vacation, it was one of our stops. We stayed for three days when we got there, we realized our room is quite small for five people.. what more we only had two queen beds .. we have three teenagers with us so this is logically impossible.. when we ordered the room we made sure to put in all the kids ages because we know we need a bigger room with bigger beds . We went to the lobby to see what can be done they were quite rude basically not in so many words they said nothing could be done, and this was a room that we ordered, but this room shouldn’t have been offered to five people. We even asked if we can change our room they said that they’re fully booked and that’s fine it is summer they said they might have something available on Friday. Nobody contacted us nobody spoke to us after that day. They said there isn’t enough room to put in mattress in the room. We ended up going to target buying our own mattress for $60 and there was enough room to put it in the room so I don’t feel the service we deserve.
