Great room right across the street from the beach. Great office staff. Very helpful with suggestions on where to go for dinner and drinks. Really good breakfast and parkong included with room. We will be coming back.Rooms: Rooms look to be newly renovated.Walkability: Beach is across the street.Food & drinks: Breakfast was delicious. A bar and a few restaurants are about maybe a 10 minute walk.

Beautiful room we got a private sweet. Hotel staff is so friendly and sweet! Are real family vibe and you can tell they care. Loved our room so accommodating. The staff also gave great recommendations for shopping and dining. Also great continental breakfast too. We will definitely be back. 10/10 we will be back for sure. Thank you for an amazing stay!

Truly surprised the city allows this lack of quality in their newly blossoming city. With the Harbor nearing completion, one would think to step up their game. No, sir! During the summer the prices are not congruent with reality. I would pay no more than $40 a night for this type of "quality "..... risk risk. Read the reviews folks. There is a REASON for low ratings. The management likens to congress, outdated and out of touch with reality. PASS. LAGUNA BEACH IS JUST A HOP SKIP AND A JUMP AWAY!

Lipstick on a pig. The new paint job does nothing to mask what's inside. With corporate oversight or new management this place would thrive. Until then, it's just as the name suggests.

Awful, unsanitary and uninhabitable hotel. We checked in late in the evening and put kids straight to bed. In the morning we noticed a line of ants by the shower. Gross, but maybe manageable and didn't turn a lot of lights on to avoid waking family in the room still sleeping.Went down for breakfast, which was reheated artificial eggs/sausage and potatoes that looked to come from a bag. Any review saying this was "homemade" is misleading to the point of a likely lie and/or planted review. At breakfast, overheard another guest complaining to staff of being bitten by insects. After breakfast, went back to the room and saw ants all over. Near the shower, along the walls, up the bathroom vanity, and in the main room. Absolutely disgusting and uninhabitable.Front desk staff (kindly) cancelled the rest of our stay but said the "manager" would not refund our prior night. I asked the manager to call me on Friday, and was told he was expected in "momentarily." It is now Monday evening and no one has called or followed-up.We did not expect much from a lower-budget hotel, but this was below. Room smelled awful, complaints of mold are likely real, the ants were disgusting and other guests complained. Believe the 1* reviews, not the superficial planted other ones.

We have never been to thus location in California, so we were surprised when we finally arrived. This hotel is right across from the pacific ocean, upscale neighborhood, nice rooms and great customer service. You have breakfast included and the views are beautiful. We stayed for one night, Wensday night then check out Thursday. The attendant was really nice and told us about a few spots around the area to eat.Rooms: Really nice rooms and the bed was comfortable, and everything was clean.Nearby activities: Lots of places to eat even at late night hours. Grocery stores nearby and trails on the beach. A bridge you can walk through over the street with personal locks ? you can attach.Food & drinks: Places like a Mexican fast food place withdrive -thru that sells everything from burgers, chicken, fish, shrimp, tacos ect...

We loved our time at this hotel over Labor Day. Really lovely stay. We stayed in a king spa room, which was really big for a boutique hotel. The spa tub has jets and was big enough for both me and my husband to relax next to each other in it. The room had a very small partial ocean view and was close enough to hear the ocean waves. Everyone was very kind and attentive. The hotel is across from the beach and within walking distance to multiple restaurants and just a few minutes of a drive from downtown Dana Point. Free parking for lower profile vehicles under the hotel and free breakfast. No pool or hot tub. For the price and location, it's hard to beat. In my opinion, the photos online don't do it justice. Take the low reviews with a grain of salt. Some people expect 5 star hotels for $100/ night and just love to complain when they get anything less.

If you can't get an ocean view, your kinda missing out on the location. Rooms are average but the corner rooms and 3rd floor have valted ceilings worth asking for. The staff is real nice and attentive. No pool, but a small jaccuzzi. Only a couple of parking spots for slightly higher profile vehicles, so bring a lower car. The showers barely work and have very little hot water. Nice place to escape for the weekend at the beach. :-)

I've stayed in best Western plus before, but this one surprised me. The condition of the room was pretty dreadful. Felt like a cheap poorly kept apartment. Walls had paint damage, painters tape on the floorboard, no decor in the room, the bathroom had water damage and mold in the floorboards, the bathroom wall had a picture hanging about waist height to cover wall damage. Room smells musty. The mattress wasn't comfortable for me and the blankets are rough and not soft. Feels like a $50/night motel. I'm writing this review at 6am after lying awake for the past 5 hours. I recommend going for better. This place will continue to get by by pricing slightly cheaper than the competition, but honestly, the savings aren't worth a poor night's rest. Life is short, live a little. We made a mistake this time, so definitely no next time.Oh, check in process was horrid, we waited forever to get checked in and the person checking us in had to keep running out to each room to make sure it was clean. Feels like there should be much better processes in place.Updated: 10/16/2023Thank you for your response. Of note, I did not do early check in, I arrived at 3pm and we weren't checked in until 3:30pm. We actually had a photo shoot scheduled for 5pm, hence our rush, otherwise normally, this isn't a concern for us.More concerning was the condition of the room. I've attached photos, but this isn't what I would expect from a Best Western Plus. Generally, a clean room is all I expect. Also, FYI, there was also a sink drain leak, so water was getting into the drawer and on the floors. The black mold is highly concerning, as this is a health hazard, and should be addressed promptly. I know it looks like just water damage, but since it was never repaired, I'm certain there's mold behind the drywall. I don't think you should ever have a room with unfinished repairs being given to paying customers. We were in a very poorly maintained room. This is mainly just an opportunity to provide feedback. We were only there for 1 night, so it wasn't a big deal, but if we were planning to stay multiple days, I would have requested a room change given all of the deficiencies.

We stayed one night at this hotel but it severely fell short of our usual standards of Best Western Plus. I think it's more of a Best Western Minus. I chose those this location because it's close to Doheny Beach and the check-in time was 3pm. However, when we arrived around 3:15pm, we had to wait about 30 min to check in, as there were 2 parties ahead of us having different check-in issues. We didn't get our room until almost 4pm.This aside, the rooms were motel level and not even a nice motel. It smelled musty and had many moldy floor panels and patched walls. I can't believe this was $250 a night! There was also a leak from the sink because water kept coming out from underneath the vanity. The upkeep of this place looked unprofessional and not at all at the level of my past experience with BW Plus.Breakfast was ok but seating area was very small.I would not stay here again for sure and I'd never recommend it to anyone because of its decrepit state. I'm not looking for fancy but just cleanliness and basic upkeep. Go somewhere else!

Not a great hotel. Rooms were pretty minimal. TV screen kept going black and needed a repair man to try and get it to turn on in the first place. Never got it to work. Room smelt musty. Hot tub was down. This place is not worth $400+. Would highly recommend trying a different location.
