This conglomerate bank is horrible. I'm switching banks as soon as I can. I canceled a cc due to high interest rate. They took it off my Mobil app and told me the only way to pay or find balance is in bank or by phone. Plus their ATM miscounted a currency deposit. Time for a new bank.

This bank is awful. Our loan was transferred to them and we didn't have the new account number to set up auto pay but in order to get through the automated phone system you need an account number. Couldn't speak to a live person no matter what. Had to find a bank location and even the employees had a challenging time trying to help us get setup.

Before you hand your hard-earned cash over to BMO (Bank of Montreal), be sure to check out reviews from their branches in Canada. They score, on average, 1 out of 5 stars.

The best bank in town. The most friendly staff who actually care about their customers. It's the small town bank with a huge worldwide backing of BNP Paribas (very helpful when traveling in Europe and Turkey).

My 85 yr old father asked about deferring his mortgage payment for 3 months due to the Corona virus. He was told they would just add three months to the end of the loan with no penalty or fees. When they sent him the paperwork to sign, it says after the 3rd month he has to pay the current month due at that time plus the three deferred months in a lump sum! How does that help anyone. If someone has four months worth of mortgage payments sitting in the bank, they wouldn't be asking for the deferment in the first place.

I banked with Bank of the West 20 years ago. I stopped because their online systems were tedious to use and I didn't feel I had any good dealings with the branch staff back in San Jose where I used to live. I've been banking with Citibank since and moved to the East Bay for the past 15 years. Citibank is fine however it's the staff that really makes the difference. The Citibank branch I was going to was very well managed with an exceptional manager. She got promoted and left. The new manager is never to be seen. The service has gone down. I moved some of my business to the bank of the west as their rates were more competitive than Citi and that's where my review begins. I've been with Bank of the West for about a year now and every single time I walk in, I'm greeted personally and with big smiles. I must say, the team here is what the Citibank used to be with the great manager. The Bank of the West manager is super knowledgeable and helpful. The rest of the staff is simply wonderful as well. Even though I feel Bank of the West's online banking is still inferior to Citibank's, I will do more business with them simply because of their staff. Kudos team!

I recently opened an account at the Danville branch of Bank of the West after closing an account at Wells Fargo. I have had outstanding service there from the manager Luis, and also from one of the assistants, Kyle. Everyone is friendly and welcoming. It is a pleasure to be a customer at Bank of the West!
