January 2024 by Stella Joseph
My son had 4 of his wisdom teeth removed on 1/4/2024 and his surgeon had prescribed pain medication which he was supposed to pick up before surgery. When he came back empty handed I was told 'they had some issues'. After surgery when my son was in pain and close to tears (Advil and Tylenol did not help), I called the pharmacy (initially I was told they could not talk to me but I reminded her that my poor son had gauze stuck between his teeth and whimpering in pain) and was told it was an insurance problem. Since I had to buy some pudding from Safeway, I called the Insurance and headed to Safeway. After 30 Mins on the phone with the insurance rep contacting the prescription insurance and Safeway Pharmacist I was told there should be no problem. I then went to the pharmacy counter and inquired again about my son's medication and heard the same answer 'insurance issue'. But I told her (Michelle) the insurance rep had just contacted the pharmacy. Very quickly she told me it was OK and I would be notified when the prescription is filled (30 Mins). It is 1/5/2024 noon and I am still waiting for the notification. Dear Michelle, I hope to God that you never have to see your children in such pain, and if you do, there is a more sympathetic pharmacist and you will NEVER encounter someone like you.Dear Safeway Pharmacy - I hope the color of my son's skin did not automatically have you categorize him as "drug addict'. You had no right to play God and deny him pain relief. You are the reason why the richest nation in the world has the worst health and health care among rich nations.

Very rude pharmacist! If I could put a zero I would! Going back to rite aid in Alamo. I moved to Danville thought it would be easier to get my meds at the Safeway pharmacy then driving all the to Alamo. But not worth the rudeness I experienced

This Safeway pharmacy is the worst in this neighborhood; cocky, slow and specialized in hiring rude low paying employees to insult their customers, and a professional apologizer online to "answer" all the complaints, his/her job is verbally soothing the customers' anger while doing nothing in reality to deal with the inefficiency and bad service attitude. It actually made me sick of buying the grocery and I will do my best to stay away from this store again!

Consistently the slowest and rudest pharmacy. Will be going elsewhere from now on I’ve given them a few chances

The people who answer the phone are extremely rude, they give inconsistent information on pricing and availability and behave as if they can't be bothered with your business. I agree with the person who said they act like they are on a power trip. Service takes forever, and I've even waited there for what seemed like an eternity while they searched high and low for my prescription. This place is clearly disorganized and have never heard of customer service. Do not go here. I am pulling all of my prescriptions from this place.

This pharmacy is awful. My doctor recommended I get a specific medication filled here because they have better discounts with GoodRx, etc. I usually use CVS.First and foremost, the Safeway Pharmacy mobile app is abysmal. It's buggy, counterintuitive, and the user is provided zero useful confirmations about what's been done in the app and what the status of a prescription is. Each time I've requested a refill I've had to call the pharmacy just to make sure they received the request and that they were working on it. Secondly, they won't refill my prescription until I've run out of it. I've had to go days without it when I've been out of town or was for some reason unable to pick it up the literal day I run out.Lastly, their processes are disjointed and inconsistent. When I first filled my prescription there, I had a GoodRx coupon and it worked fine. Then, seemingly randomly, they said that they've been incorrectly applying that coupon and I need to have my insurance approve to cover the medication (which they won't, hence the coupon). I jump through all of the hoops of receiving the denial letter from my insurance only to have them say "Whoops. Never mind. We can use the GoodRx coupon." That was last month. I just called on the phone to follow up on the mobile refill request and they said AGAIN that I need to get my insurance company to approve the medication. I'm headed out of town tomorrow and will not have the medication.I guess you get what you pay for.

WORST PHARMACY IN THE AREA- the pharmacists hold your prescriptions hostage and are on a power trip acting like they're doctors. It's not our fault you guys weren't smart enough to be drs but you don't have to take it out on us. Had my dr office call 6 TIMES last week so I could get something filled on Saturday- then the weekend pharmacists says she needs to talk to my dr before filling it! Are you kidding me?? They let people suffer that need medications so they can get off on being medicine nazis. Will never go here again SO unprofessional worst pharmacy in existence F ALL THE PHARMACISTS THAT WORK HERE THEYRE MEAN UNHELPFUL AND ARE HAPPY TO LET YOU SUFFER

Came in for flu vaccine. Waiting area have a check in tablet but is covered with a paper. Waited for 15min and was told to go to medication drop off area to check in. Waited another 15 min inline. Very short staffed. I would go to other Safeway.

Nice and friendly staff. Walked in with a prescription and was told that it would be about 20 minutes until it's ready. Made my shopping round in the store and as I swung by, the text alert went off that my prescription was ready.

It's convenient to have the pharmacy in the supermarket. But the problem is it takes forever to get service and it feels like they're just doing their job and ignoring customers. I went for a simple flu shot today and I had to wait 20 minutes for the shot. When I was with Kaiser it took 2 minutes.

I would give 0 stars if it was an option. I went to get a medicine for my brain tumor yesterday. I have been getting the same medicine for 3 years now and the price with my insurance has always been $10. When I went in this time, Tom(attending customers at pick up) told me it's $54. I told him it's always been a different price and will have to call my insurance and check why that changed. He starts to call my insurance and I told him that I unfortunately need to come back as I need to pick up my daughter now. He threatens me that he would never work on this later and does not have the time. If I stepped out right now he can never give me my medicine. I told him I was here for a quick pickup and since it will take time I have to come back - I will ofcourse stand in the line again and make an appointment if necessary to come at a certain time but unfortunately have to go as my daughter will be waiting for me to pick her up. He threatens me again that if I leave they will never give my medicine. WHAT!!!! Is that even legal to deny me my medicine if I come back? I had to tell others about my experience. Thanks for taking the time to read
