Love banfield hospital for our blue girl. It’s the only place I go for my fur baby.

We brought our special needs dog to Banfield and loved it so much we signed up for an annual plan. I was so happy we found a vet and a hospital in one! My review is in no way a reflection of the staff at the Davis location. We have had an incredible experience until today. We spent one night away from home over Christmas and our cat Mowgli is primarily outside by choice. When we got home on Christmas Day, he comes strolling in looking like he got scalped on his cheek! He was calm and purring with no obvious signs of infection. My inclination was to take him to emergency, but Banfield told me that they are a full service pet hospital and can do emergency care during the hours they are open so I flushed out his wound and waited until they opened. I called them first thing today and they agreed to get him right in, but then I was informed that they don't really do emergency services and they might need to refer me to an actual vet hospital. I'm understandably confused at this point as the actual business name is Banfield Pet HOSPITAL. Not sure how it's legal to have hospital in your name if you're just a vet clinic. So I drive Mowgli to them to see if they can help him since they were willing to evaluate him. I walk in and ask if they can have someone take a quick peek at his face and tell me if they think they might be able to treat him and I get a flat out NO.I'm not trying to get free vet services, I pay $80 a month to them already for my dog and I intended to get my 3 cats established there too. But I do think there should be some latitude in an emergency for them to have someone peek at his face and tell me if there's nothing they will do except refer him without having to pay for a full examination. Most vets are very caring and would gladly take 2 minutes out of their day to take a quick peek at an injured animal. Based upon my experience today, I now know that Banfield flat out lied to me when I signed up my dog for their services, stating that they do emergency vet care during their open hours and I would only need to go elsewhere when they are closed. Had I known they don't treat actual emergencies, i would have just taken Mowgli to the emergency hospital yesterday!I just want to warn others that Banfield Vet 'Hospital' is simply vet clinic and will only take your money and delay care for your injured animal before referring them to an actual hospital to get the care they need. Unfortunately, I am in contract for my dog and so have to continue to do business with them until that expires, but I will never give them another cent after that and I'm going to find a vet that actually cares about animals and not just policy and money.

I call for a new puppy apt only to be told a day before that it is a distance apt and I have only a week left to get shots and they can't rescedual me. Who drops a brand new puppy off for a distance apt. That being said I used to love banfield but now have to rush to find a new vet for a 2 month old puppy I did not find them concerned in fixing the issue at all.

Update: Now they have sent her a bill for the teeth cleaning! They will literally kill your healthy pet and then charge you for it! Never ever go to this place! In response to the business owner there is no option to DM. The office is fully aware of the situation. They received the autopsy report. There had been no apology not that it would ever help or bring back our baby GusGus. You failed to take any responsibility. It's very obvious there is no monitoring. All you guys said was it wasn't our fault, that something must have been wrong with him. Well autopsies don't lie. This office failed him over a simple teeth cleaning. And you handed him to my sister like a piece of trash. Couldn't even provide something to bring him home in. You handed us a cardboard box and a ratty blanket like he was nothing. That was my sisters baby. All I can say is you guys need a better recovery process. We spoke to a previous worker after the fact who said you do not have a good monitoring or recovery process. The board of veterinarian will be hearing about all of it. And how are you gonna ask us to dm you our info? You have had a month to privately contact us. We don't need to give our info. You guys know what little yorkie you failed. Never take your pet here. My sister took our beloved 2 year old yorkie for a simple teeth cleaning at their recommendation. First she gets a call saying he's in recovery and to come pick him up soon. Then she gets a call saying they couldn't wake him up, that he died. Then she arrives devastated to be told they are still working on him. How are they still working on the dog when she was told on the phone he already passed? None of it made sense. It's like they couldn't get their story straight. They were unapologetic and kept claiming they were not to blame, that he must have had an underlying condition. He was a healthy young dog! Well one month later autopsy report came back that he was a healthy 2 year old dog with no conditions and that his cause of death was a drug reaction that could have been prevented had they actually been monitoring him. To top it off, when we asked for his medical records to be printed off they took over an hour to provide what should have been a simple print off while we are devastated and holding our beloved GusGus. None of it was right. We will be contacting the board of veterinarian on this place. We didn't even receive an apology!

Me and my sister Diamond, in our beloved dog Kibo were treated very well at this location! They were able to help me and my sister in a situation with my dog and really get a health plan going! The energy was great. Nobody had an attitude they're very communicative. And Sierra, which I believe is a manager was most helpful. She made sure she relayed messages about Kibos's condition the day before we went in.! It's truly an amazing location, and we have officially found our forever vet !

To be honest, "hospital" is a bit misleading when it's more like a community clinic. I was quite astonished to hear that they did not have the equipment to examine my dog's nasal cavity for a foxtail and would have to go in blind. I appreciate their honesty about the potential for injury but it doesn't seem like there's much point in sedating the animal if you still can't see what you're doing. If you just need your annual checkups and standard stuff, it's all right, but if you want somewhere that can provide more continuity of care for different services for more complex or tricky issues, Banfield's not for you. They do refer out if you're comfortable with it, so, just consider your preference.

All this place wants is money! Had a puppy that was one-year-old and they pulled 10 teeth. We came back about a year later simply because they were easy to make appointments through. So this being our second visit we brought two of our puppies in there for a simple teeth cleaning. Both 5 lb. One is two years old and the other is three. They put them both under anesthesia. The 3-year-old they said needed four teeth pulled because they were loose. We never noticed any issues at home and brush their teeth once a week so I thought that was weird. After the procedure on the 2-year-old they said it all went well. Tried to wake him up. He was dead. Attempted CPR with negative results. They killed my puppy. My guess is overdose on anesthesia. How are they not monitoring his heart and everything the whole time? We will be investigating this office. 10/10 do NOT recommendAfter this incident a close friend hit me up and said this happened to him with his dog not waking up at the Davis location. As well as very bad service at the Vacaville one too.I recommend you see Davis vet hospital. Do your research before you drop your fur babies off anywhere people!

Great staff, finally found staff that would thoroughly explain things to me. All my experiences have been good until the most resent one where my cat was given medication too high for his weight. Just keep an eye on that as I don't know yet what caused the mistake.

Really happy with my results so far with this vet. I have been able to make an appointment easily, (they even do drop offs if you need something quickly) while also get my questions answered and have a great chat with the super friendly vets and techs there.I am looking forward to continuing to come here.

I totally agree with Carissa W you go to a vet thinking they will take care of your animal, trusting that they will do everything they can to keep them safe. They recommended that you bring your dog in for a teeth cleaning and the dog ends up dying for no apparent reason he was totally in good health when he went in. My opinion of the whole situation is that they overdosed him with anesthesia when they put him to sleep they put him under too far and did not monitor him like they should have.henever woke up when they called and said that he passed away they seemed very cold and uncaring about the whole situation which left my granddaughters totally devastated! They brought him out, wrapped in a raggedy old blanket, with his tongue, hanging out and his eyes open and handed him to them like he was a piece of garbage.

This place won't respect your wishes regarding your pets while in their care, and will keep them for the entire day when they've promised a short stay. My cat is traumatized and my day was ruined for something that could and should have taken 15 minutes.

The staff is friendly and know what they are doing. I am using them to get my dogs ready to move to New Zealand so will update this review with success at that time.
