Filthy. Disgusting. Malodorous smell. Garbage cans full of trash. Towel dispensers empty. Out of order signs often taped to weight machines and other equipment. Trip hazards. Lap pool cold, dirty & lights broken. Pool deck covered with pine needles. Zero response to complaints by management.

I love this gym. It’s got everything you could need. Machines are a mix of old and new - it’s got an old school vibe to it that I hope doesn’t change. I miss gyms like this; glad they are still around here and there.

Great neighborhood gym. They have every type of weight lifting machine imaginable. We didn't use the pool, but it looked very nice.

I visit Davis regularly, and usually drive out to Sacramento 24 hour fitness locations for a member work out. Those gyms are about 25 miles roundtrip from Davis. A quick Google search found that I have a gym 5 minutes away from me right here in Davis.Parking lot is on a more normal neighborhood size therefore maybe a bit tight depending on the time of day. The gym is in a quite neighborhood. There's an outdoor pool which I didn't go see. 35 dollars for a week membership with a free trial day...which is seemed reasonable. Inside you'll find a juxtapositioning of several very spacious rooms with a ton of machines, cable pulleys, Smith's machines, squat racks, benches, both incline and regular. There's a separate room for just machines, abs, legs, lower back. Also a heavy bag hangs in front of another back room. There is an indoor basketball court, almost hidden behind a solid door by the entrance foyer. There are open areas upstairs peppered with stair climbers and such. It's like an Easter egg hunt but the logistics tends to separate people into separate areas if another one is busy. I like how they've spread out the equipment so you can bench press, or leg press or do preacher bench curls in two different rooms. The equipment is placed fairly close to each other but there's always room to get around in front of them. The several days I've been in, I was able to work out efficiently without waiting...They could use more 45 # plates. I didn't see any heavy hitters but it would take one guy benching 405# and the rest of the crowd will be scrambling for plates. The locker room is clean, good sized lockers with combination code locks. There's a steam room and a small separate sauna in the men's change area and I assume same in the women's section. I loved the sauna. There's an aerobics room with just treadmills and such.I feel pretty fortunate to have found this place. I look forward to just working out here during my visits next time.

Not the greatest gym. Needs a lot of updating and had two of my first few classes cancelled. Aerobics classes were okay. Staff was really friendly.

Extremely dirty, it smells as soon as you walk through the door, mens locker room smells like pee. Was a member for 2 years and I never saw anyone moo the floors. Great potential but the owner doesn't seem to invest any money into the equipment or facilities. $65/month is also a bit pricey for how poorly things are kept

Great staff, horrible sanitary conditions, Bug problem in the showers, sauna or steam rood constantly Out of Service?. For the money I feel like I am getting ripped Off. The location is too convenient for me to go anywhere else. I would give 4.5 stars to the Staff!

So appreciative for this gym. I take my kids to play care 4-5 times a week and this gym has everything I need and then more. This place is legit.

GFD has a wonderful pool situation. There is a warm pool for more personal workouts and a large pool for lap swimming.Unfortunately, the dressing room by the pool is not kept clean. The walls in the shower are slick. You don't see whatever is there but you sure feel it. The hot water in the shower was nonexistent for the winter except for two showers( of 7) The shower controls do not work as intended. There was no soap at the two shower heads that had hot water. There is often no paper towels and sometimes no TP. All they need is a responsible employee to take a daily look in the room to see if there are supplies. The spa/ hot tub has great heat and good nets but the tile has not been cleaned in years and it shows. The same thing is true in the functional training pool. Some of us used our nails to write messages in the black scum on the tiles just to see if they would be cleaned. Unfortunately, we could read our messages for months.

Terrible gym! Owner has a very weak ego. I went in with another gyms tshirt and didn't think much of it and they asked me to change the shirt. Small d energy! Another time I was deadlifting 405lb as controlled as possible but mind you that 405lb is 405lb. It's gonna make some noise regardless of how controlled you put it down. I was asked to not drop the weight by the very small gym manager. Over priced! $65 for a very below average gym. Terrible hours and terrible staff. Oh and again the owner has a very weak and fragile ego. I canceled my membership and went to a real gym SYSTEM FITNESS is a superior gym at a much more reasonable price!

I sent an email to club management three days ago. No response. Crickets. Bupkis. Here's what I wrote regarding the largest room at the club, which is filled with workout equipment:This morning I discovered that in order to overcome the loud, angry 'metal' music booming in the room, I had to turn up my Bose bluetooth headphones "up to eleven"...and they still couldn't drown it out.I stopped my workout to ask the young woman at the front desk if the volume could be lowered a bit, explaining that there were only five customers in the big room, including me, all either wearing headphones or earbuds. None of us asked for- or needed- any extraneous music. At a lower volume, not a problem! When it's too loud to tune out, even with good headphones cranked up to earbleed level, it is a problem. When I returned to the rowing machine, the music was as loud as before. On my way out, after cutting my workout short, I let her know. She said, "Well, they (I assume that means management) like to have the music on for 'atmosphere.' I turned it down ten notches. It's a pretty big room, so the sound just carries. That's the best I can do."I got the message: "Tough noogies. This policy isn't going to change, there's nothing that can be done about it, so you'll just have to deal with it. It isn't physically possible to lower the volume."I last belonged to GFD Sport in 2016 and 2017, and enjoyed working out to personal, custom Spotify playlists on my headphones. I made friends, dropped 18 pounds and felt great! I was working out at the club, quite happily, five days a week. Back then, even loud in-person conversations and yakking on a cell phone were discouraged in the treadmill room. When I recently moved back to Davis, I looked forward to rejoining the friendly, mellow, laid-back club that I had nothing but positive feelings toward, and getting back in shape. If I had known the policy now was to bombard members with loud, angry, edgy metal, I wouldn't have rejoined. It's hard enough at my age and physical condition (66 and about 20 pounds overweight) to be motivated to work out without having this unnecessary "suck" factor that, for me, takes the enjoyment out of the experience.I'm going to cancel my membership and write off the initiation fee as money not well-spent (ugh). Why would I continue to spend $60 a month on a fixed income (Social Security) just to be discouraged from working out?____________________Not even the courtesy of a response. Nada. Zip. I was totally blown off. Not a good way to retain a customer.

Good gym, but too crowded and could use more functional training and calisthenics equipment
