It was fun to pop in and see the flowers and watch the crop dusters land. The art work is whimsical and fun and it was a nice stop on my walk by the olive trees. Don't be alarmed if you hear the pigs from the nearby pig barns, they make a lot of noise when they are being fed so if you don't recognize the sound, you might think that there was something else going on. Worth a side trip...and everyone loves bees.

Quant little paradise for bees. Even in the winter, the bees were busy. The road here is lined with beautiful olive trees.

Fun and unusual park?/museum? Outdoors showing a variety of plants and bushes that support bees. It was quiet when we visited, and very relaxing. Also saw partridges and lizards. Not a large place. Easy to visit.

Interested in attracting bees to your garden? The Haagen-Dazs Honey Bee Haven at UC Davis is a great resource. The garden is buzzing with activity. Bees, butterflies, and birds fly throughout the flowers. It is a really unique outdoor living museum where you can see the bees living and flying to help pollinate the beautifully landscaped colorful garden. It was really fascinating and a bit mesmerizing watching so many bees. Why are bees important? Bees are responsible for pollinating about a third of the fruits, vegetables and nuts that we eat. They also pollinate wild plants that is key nutrition for many animals in nature. And, of course, no bees, no honey. Unfortunately, many bee species are in decline. How to help? Plant a colorful garden. Fill it with flowers, herbs and vegetables. Bees like Russian sage, sunflowers, coneflowers and rosemary, to name a few favorites. Add a bee house to your backyard. Or make a donation to a bee research center. Near UC Davis? Take a tour to learn more about this beautiful Honey Bee Haven and garden. The haven is open daily. Or follow virtually for more fun facts and tips on how to create your own backyard honey bee haven.
