Safeway is the more expensive grocery stores in the area and the regular price for an item goes up when it is on sale.

Came in at 7:45am knowing Customer service was closed went up to the self checkout attendant and told her I wanted to make a return she didn’t greet me or anything just walked me to customer service after a few moments of the employees just looking at me and no one coming to help I pushed the button. The cashier comes at with an attitude and says you know I’m not open. I tell her the self checkout lady told me to come over. I explain I don’t have the paper receipt but the digital receipt she says she can’t accept that. I explain to her that other Safeways have done it before. The manger comes over says the same thing and offers a gift card. I paid with money so I want my money back. I’ve noticed the employees at this Safeway do not greet black customers nor do they treat them the same way. I drove the extra 5 minutes to the West Covell Safeway location and got a return and way BETTER service. It’s worth just driving the extra 5 minutes !!!

I watched David on June 3rd greet 3 white customers with a smile and bag their groceries without question. The next 2 in line were black men. He deliberately didn't say hello or even acknowledge them. Like he did the previous 3 white customers and didn't even attempt to bag the groceries of the 2nd black man. This is not the first time I've seen him act prejudice against people of color. You should not have people who have such petty mentalities working in customer service. Fix his behavior before we have to

I used to shop here weekly for all my groceries until June 2023. The store at Cowell near Richards. I have not returned since a floor clerk approached me about having my 8lb doggy in my cart. Her verbal delivery was so mean, hostile, berating, and inappropriate, as if it was a personal loathing of her customers. I looked for a name badge which she said she didn't have it on yet. I asked her name, she said, Hannah? Older woman of 45? I'm 57. Anyway, I showed her I had a VA military disabled ID card, to which she chagrined and followed me to make sure I left. I was cooperative because I was wrong. Never been back, however, but I do dislike paying Nugget prices! I used to work at an Albertson's in Washington and never would have used such a tone level with a customer. Safeway is usually cool and my cousin and friend retired from there.

It's pretty okay. Not the fanciest in town but it's nice.

Safeway is not the business we remember. The interactions with the employees used to be a positive part of the experience. The new employees there are not friendly and the guest service is horrible. They make it feel like it is your fault if there is something that is mislabeled with a different price. For example we purchased coffee marked $5.49 but we were charged $15.99 with our Safeway Club Card. See photo below. They wouldn't honor the price on the box of $5.49 and said the price on the register was correct $15.99. The woman at the customer service desk was not helpful and a bit rude. We are definitely considering shopping at Nugget. It's a little further and maybe a little more expensive but a much better shopping experience. We miss the old employees that worked there. Shop at night when Dave is there. He is helpful and has great guest service.

All the employees I've interacted with here are super nice and always helpful if you can't find something. I'm giving 2 stars because some low IQ manager decided midnight on Halloween would be a good time to block off the whole liquor section to wax the floors. I'm sure they knew what they were doing but why would you intentionally try to piss off your customers. Just lame

The most illogically organized store I’ve ever seen. Where are canned tomatoes? I would think by the canned fruits and veggies. Nope, it’s by the pasta sauce.Where are the ziploc bags? Maybe by the cleaning supplies. Nope, it’s by baking. And why are yoghurt and eggs separate from the rest of the dairy products?

Update when I worked close by there I was buying food and I was behind a lady and I forgot to put the block in between her and my groceries and the cashier ask the lady if that food was also hers and we both said no and she then looked at me and asked are u college student and I said yes and she said u want me to pay for your groceries and I said no and she said u must be starving like girl I look healthy I eat reasonably like what was she trying to say that I'm a college student so I must not be able to feed myself and the cashier said nothing she laughed thru it all and I just stayed quiet because I didn't believe what I was hearing, terrible experience she humiliated me in front of people in line and those who heard her and the cashier never stopped the behavior.
