This review is for the drive up and go. I have done drive up and go multiple times, various safeways I honestly can say this store does a fabulous job! They are pretty quick from when I arrive and they are nice. Onetime a girl tried to offer me a cold water on one of the hot days. I told her to keep it for herself. They are great here! Thank you all for what you do. I appreciate it. :)

When you’re in the self-checkout line, they had an employee approach your kiosk and force you to hit 10 grade rating on their customer service. Then they try to cover it up by telling you to put a phone number in receive a discount. The employee did it to 2 other customers. Felt very odd, got really close behind me to carry out the action. I guess the store really needs a high score on their customer service report to look good.

Standard Safeway experience. Well stocked shelves of pre-packaged foods, and decent selection of fresh vegetables, meats, and hot food items. However, limited bakery items if you get there in the afternoon. Large parking lot with plenty of free parking.

I'm writing to share my recent disappointing experience at our local Safeway, specifically regarding an interaction with the manager, Lloyd. I usually appreciate Safeway for its convenience and selection, but this visit left a lot to be desired in terms of customer service. Upon raising a concern about a product, I was met with what can only be described as a dismissive attitude from Lloyd. Instead of the helpful and understanding service I've come to expect, I felt disregarded and disrespected. This is not about a single interaction but rather how such experiences can tarnish the reputation of a store that many of us rely on for our daily needs. I believe in constructive feedback and hope this review serves as a call to action for the store's management team. Training in customer service and empathy could greatly improve interactions and ensure that all customers feel valued and respected. The community deserves a welcoming and friendly shopping environment, and I am confident that with some attention to these concerns, our local Safeway can meet that standard. I look forward to seeing improvements and will be happy to update my review to reflect positive changes in the future.

I recently left a previous review about the West Covell Safeway selling outdated items. Back then I had 3 experiences purchasing their Suriname artificial crab flakes that were outdated twice and once where it was due to outdate on 2 days. Today I shop there because I only had a couple of things to purchas. One was shredded cheddar cheese. The first one I picked up documented "best used by January 10th". Today is February 20th. Finally found one that outdated a month later. Just be aware that you should check outdates when shopping at the West Covell site.

Went to the sandwich section. Ordered a turkey club. They literally only placed two thin slices of turkey on the sandwich. Never seen a sandwich shop or store sandwich shop place so little meat on a sandwich. I apologized and said I would need to cancel that order after they started to prepare. The person preparing stated they were embarrassed too and offered to place a couple of more slices of turkey. I thought that was very kind and continued with my order. However, it was still less than half as much as any other chain sandwich shop.Just another reason not to shop at the Covell Safeway. Still didn’t have several items that are usually in stock.I wonder when, if ever, Safeway leadership will change local management. The entire team is much less friendly and we have shopped there for over 20 years. The East Davis Safeway is much better.

When you dont need bags at the self checkout, a alarm rings and a cashier checks, if you really have no bags. Even with these inflated prices they make sure they dont loose a penny for bags. Therefore they suspect every customer of stealing bags. This is wrong on so many levels. Greedy management!

I have come to this Safeway here and there over the past 7 years. This Safeway appears to be older and is small compared to other Safeway stores that I visit. I went here during the weekend and didn't have a good experience. Mainly because of the customer service. I went to the deli to get some sliced meat and the employee there acted like she was frustrated that she had two customers to help. She said it was just her at the counter, which I can understand, but she only had two customers. Then there was a guy stocking in the produce area that I asked for help. He did help me, but he seemed frustrated that I asked him a question. Don't get me wrong, I can imagine times are tough if this particular Safeway is understaffed, but employees shouldn't let their frustrations show to customers. With that said, our cashier was nice and helpful, so it's not all the employees. Some of the employees at this store are nice and helpful. I don't think I will goto this particular Safeway anymore even though it's much closer. I'll start going to the other Safeway in Davis and see if it's better.

Aisles are too narrow, they are constantly out of many products, the meat department smells spoiled, the produce department is full of wilted or unripe or overripe products, and the customer service is poor. The parking lot is also awful. Go to either trader joes or either nugget location for a better experience in every way imaginable.
