My wife loves coming to Michaels getting supplies for project for her school and personal things she like to make. She can find everything in Micheals for projects and personal things. The prices are incredible affordable for any price. The staff are very helpful and also knowledgeable.

Come to this location if I don't feel like driving to Whittier or Lakewood. This location has 30% of stuff in stock and every time I go to self check out the employees always harass me and watching me like a damn hawk. Just cause I got tattoos from head to toe don't mean ima steal. I don't have time for that. This location needs to do better

The customer service and help at the Downey location of Michael's is completely incompetent and lousy to say the least, and the manager, Danielle was sarcastic and rude as well...we went in, looking for some specific vases and had to wait for 45 minutes with an end result of nothing and we asked them to check with the South Gate location and they called the Lakewood location, they couldn't even get that right... Don't ever go to this store unless you are looking for horrible service and complete incompetence. Zero stars, as a matter of fact, if they had negative stars, they deserve 10 negative stars. In order to post the review, it required me to tap one star but they don't even deserve 1, they only deserve negative stars

Adrian in the framing department needs a raise! This review is specifically for the frame department at this location. Adrian went above and beyond on my large picture. He removed a canvas from the frame to replace it with a picture of my mom complete with matte and plexiglass. His work was spot on and so professional looking, he even put a backing and a landscape wire to hand my picture. I can't thank you enough for a great job. May I add this is not the first framing Adrian has done for us. Always a pleasure dealing with someone that exemplifies excellent customer service and integrity in his work. Lastly, all this was done with a smile! I definitely recommend him to hook you up for your next framing order!

Sent me an email that my orders are ready for pickup, arrived at the store, someone ask if I need help, asked the 4 last digit of my online order. She can't find my order and no resolution was given to me. What a shame to make people drive and waste gas and waste my time! Poor service!

Why work in costumer service if you're not ready to do your job?I was asking a very simple question and none of these people could help me at all. I came in for a pick up,item wasn't describe online correctly so wanted to solve the issue, very simple. All I needed was a string for my item and I asked 5 employees and All of them sent me to the wrong department. Not walked, pointed. I worked retail before and that was a no but not only that all of them were wrong. I walked out out and the main girl at the entrance knew they did me wrong and didn't even acknowledge me knowing they did bad. She seen me walk out and the front was empty,no goodbye,I'm sorry. Terrible service.

Ok, I have to say that I've been to plenty of michaels but tonight at this location their staff were just so kind of every aspect. HUGE SHOUT OUT TO ADRIAN! I came in last minute for a project for my bf birthday & had no idea what I was looking for, I did have my book that told me but still have not crochet ever & he took the time to help me find all the colors I needed & everything else I was looking for with absolutely no complaints or bad attitude & I was totally here for it (he deserves a raise) especially with how great he is at customer service! The girls at the register were also all smiles & jokes even tho it was past their closing time & I walked out with a huge smile because I came in last minute, got almost everything I needed (they were out of stock o one thing) & got no bad attitude or vibes & told myself I had to instantly write a review before I forgot! I'll be coming back to this location again~ thanks guys for showing your girl love~

Nice selection of all different products from storage to yarns to scrapbooking and paints. I appreciate having a all around hobby/crafting place in the neighborhood. Remember to check for coupons and your receipt, they forgot to scan my coupon properly and I didn't realize until I got home that I wasn't given the discount on my coupon.

Felt very uncomfortable walking around this store. At the time I was there I noticed a young female employee and a young male employee with curly hair kept following me and asking me what I was looking at (not asking if I needed help finding something), just simply approaching me to let me know they had their eye on me. I went into the store for perler beads and proceeded to peruse the isles incase something else caught my eye however, the negative interaction and stereotyping definitely made me feel uncomfortable. After the repeated negative interactions I started to question why they were specifically targeting me and I noticed I was the only Hispanic shopper at the time. It was an extremely uncomfortable situation and I will not be spending any of my money here again.

Story first. My mom's church had a fire so they have been using the auditorium/dining area for their Church gatherings. Someone suggested putting some flowers for the Facebook live sermon . You know fancy place up a bit. My mom came home with two urn . Oh this is exact the kind of project I love getting myself into. Here's the thing in design they teach you to decorate starting with the things you can't change from the room . Right off the back we are dealing with green /blue curtains and rust bricks. OK so I have my color scheme . Here's the thing that people don't really understand when it comes to synthetic flowers they are not cheap. Well not the good ones at least . The eye-catching flowers that you want to use can be $6To $20 each . Now that's just talking about flowers forget about all the other stuff you're gonna need like the foam the moss and the filler greenery. This little project easily came out to about $160 for both urn . I'm not gonna lie it did hurt me to buy one flower for that much money . I'm gonna say $25 of that money went to a dollar store for the bottom flowers and I'm OK with that . I'm 50% fancy and 50% sensible. I'll get a deal where I can get one , but I do love quality ! That is why I love Michael's !! Remember to pre-download your coupon before entering the store . Sometimes the Internet doesn't work in The store. With the coupons I saved $58 and I love that !!!! Five star for Michaels

The store itself is very nice as supplies are put in their correct spots and are not dropped on the floor which is why I am rating this store a 2 star. The employees however seem to lack common sense. Michaels now has 2 self checkout kiosks that only accept card and one person was at the cash register at the time of my visit. The line kept getting longer and longer & another employee just shouted at us in line to use the checkout kiosk if we are paying with a card as they walked passed us clearly seeing the long line and one cashier. Sadly, I had a return so I could not use the kiosk and the poor lady at the cash register called for backup but no one came to help when I clearly saw many employees walking back & forth also seeing how long the line was becoming. I am disappointed in the lack of common sense employees have to help out their fellow co-workers. My visit took a 20 minute wait in line for a less than 5 minute return.

More Discrimination and Profiling at Michaels at Downey Landing I visited this store for only the second time in several months and this store still practices discrimination upon customers who do not fit a certain profile. I did not visit Michaels at Downey Landing for many months because when last I did, (on another Saturday morning by the way) I had a very disheartening, embarrassing and humiliating experience at this same Michaels: when I walked in that Saturday morning many months ago, I was pulling my wheeled tote-bag behind me and the manager, a woman with long brown frizzy hair took one look at me and my wheeled tote and called her in-store security. I called her later on that day and both chided and admonished her for practicing prejudice and discrimination against me (she tried to blame her discrimination against me upon a (phantom?) "Black homeless guy who was nearby you." So I stayed away until today. I should have listened to my inner voice and not gone in. Because today, Saturday July 30, 2022 at about 10:15 this morning I entered this same Michaels Downey to look for baseball display cases, shadow boxes, frames and fabric glue. But this time, in an effort to avert any discrimination, profiling or prejudice, upon entering I carried my wheeled tote bag in my hand. I walked in. A male employee of about 40 to 50 years old, with eyeglasses, thin black hair, tanned skin and an accent, instead of saying "Hi welcome to Michael's!" he said--all the while closely examining and looking up and down at the bag in my hand--in a tone that sounded more along the lines of "what are you doing here" than anything else, he said, "How can I HELP you?" And I was the only entering customer he said that to! Mind you, his initial look at my bag was not a glance and a look away--he looked at me, at the bag and kept his eyes on the bag, looking at it up and down, looking at it with scrutiny. I was already disgusted by the guy's inhospitable words, tone of voice and focused, probing eyes on my bag, (which I use only because I do not drive by choice and I buy many items form many stores when I shop on Saturdays) so in answer to his question I said, "No," and his eyes ever so briefly looked at mine but then he went back to staring at the tote bag, so I said, "And stop looking at my bag. You're being rude and discourteous." He said, "Okay." I walked in, but I immediately turned round and left. My wife was supposed to come in and join me to shop at Michaels like we used to do before the virus came about, but I walked out. We're not going to spend our money at a place that treats me in this disgusting manner. I told my wife about it too, and she's not going back in either. Don't lay your ignorance and prejudice upon me man; if homeless drug addicts shop lift from your store, don't visit that garbage upon me. And since your Michaels employees insist upon judging customers by their looks and accessories, if you can't tell that I'm (a top-twenty university alumnus, a 2-service US veteran, and an executive assistant to retired Major League Baseball players) not a shoplifter, then you ought to find a less mentally challenging line of work.
