It's under construction. It has an open sign, but appears to be closed. No one is around. We didn't feel comfortable walking in with the construction. I hope they re-open. They were a good place when we came here years ago.

I just realized I never left these idiots a review, despite ignoring what I said was probably the problem, watching videos on my device, and still not fixing anything but by god did they insist it was a virus.
Surely, I’m exaggerating and this has to be a one sided version of events, right? Like, a computer shop can’t be dumb enough to watch “how to get a tall girl for short guys” videos for hours and not even use incognito mode? At least sign out of the YouTube account they’re watching things on?
So, there is that. But don’t worry, outside of that, when told very clearly it was likely a problem with the hard drive due to the amount of times the computer crashed and pretty much said ITS THE HARD DRIVE, they insisted it was a virus. They supposedly cleaned it of viruses.
Im not entirely sure what viruses they think they cleared, uh, considering I did have antivirus software already. Did they just run the antivirus I already had…?
Anyways, all that said and done, get computer back and it instantly goes back to its old ITS STILL THE HARD DRIVE issues, since, yknow, it was still the hard drive.
So my opinion of this place is they will not listen to you, do whatever they want with your device, charge you for a repair that wasn’t the problem, and then insist they fixed the problem.
Sometimes I wonder if the lack of listening came from me being a woman instead of a greasy haired dude like them.
I recommend laptops plus for anything. They’ll actually listen to you and won’t just run a virus scan. They’ll actually fix your computer.

I called about a screw for an M.2 drive, they picked up promptly, has a quick answer for me. Upon arrival they had my item ready for me and gave it free of charge! Would recommend.

DC Computers in Hillcrest is the best computer store in San Diego. I honestly like it better than the Apple Store. This is a deposit scam, they did absolutely nothing to my laptop, because they couldn’t “recreate the issue” once I got it back the screen issue was still there so there’s no way it wasn’t happening when they had it. Didn’t offer full refund like I said they are just a deposit scam be cautious. I took it to another computer repair shop and they immediately found and resolved the issue and told me it is very likely star tech isn’t experienced or just didn’t attempt to fix computer. He also said in this industry it is common for companies to pull security deposit scams.

I am so impressed with StarTech - I was referred by a friend who lives closer to them and opted for going somewhere with a good recommendation, instead of somewhere closer to home, and they are well worth the drive. Communication about what the problem was and how to fix it, along with other suggestions (that we had already been thinking of ourselves), was so fast. I had barely made it home when I received the first call. The computer was ready less than 24 hours after I dropped it off. It is working much better than its baseline had ever been before. I recommend StarTech wholeheartedly and will be using them again for any future issues with our electronics. Great service!

The people at Star Tech are great to do business with. Very pleasant and they listen to your problem situation. I had a problem with a laptop computer not booting and they diagnosed it and made a repair in two days. The fee charged is moderate. I have been doing business with this group over 15 years at two locations. I return because I trust their workmanship and technical skills. They do a full range of computer repair and parts sales.
