Excellent programming and publications for the region we live in! Just saw a fascinating Zoom presentation on the Anza Borrego desert park.

Listen up publishers and authors. Unless they changed their tune, don't expect timely payment from Sunbelt Publications. We worked with them for almost twenty years and went an entire year without payment.

We are a woman-owned business. We recommend against doing business with Sunbelt. They do not pay in a timely manner, and damage more books than they ever sell. We started with them in 1995, almost twenty years. They never paid in a timely manner, and one year, did not pay on penny on any of the thousands of dollars in invoices that they owed us. Terry is a angry, irate little fellow. It was misery having to deal with him. After we terminated our relationship for non-payment, Terry dissed us to REI. A week after termination, I get a call from some no-name dude l**** up in Seattle, saying that REI was not going to carry our books any more. After twenty years of doing hiking clinics, slideshows and talks, with the REI in Torrance, San Dimas and Northridge. Shame on TC and his no-talent bosses We estimated several thousand dollars in losses of late fees and finance charges.

If only there was a place to work where you could read books and drink coffee all day...

I attended a lecture on reptiles that Sunbelt hosted. They did a great job and made all of the guests feel very welcome. The meeting room was a bit oozy, but that didn't impede the presentation any - I think that the smaller room actually helped ensure that the acoustics weren't an issue as there was a lot of technical information that we covered and not everyone spoke as loudly as they probably should have. Afterwards, we were invited to tour the facility and go behind the scenes to where all of the magic happens. This was the first time that I've ever visited a publishing house and it was a great experience to see the publishing wheels in motion. Sunbelt carries a wide assortment of fiction and non-fiction from both regional and international authors. I was most surprised at, and very happy to learn was that they also sell books directly to the public in the small bookstore at the front of the building. I found several titles that will make great additions to my growing library on the natural history of the region. Overall, we had a great time and I'm looking forward to visiting them again...and perhaps even submitting a book proposal.
