Still seems to be a fine bank, but I do almost everything online. Their recent offer of savings accounts was in fact what I wanted but kept forgetting. The transition when Bank of the West was acquired was a little rough, UI and API access was tricky The North Berkeley location is great, with the small parking lot, especially nice for disabled customers. When they were Bank of the West, I liked seeing the local merchants come in to bank, depositing cash and talking with the staff. The people were helpful, I hope they're still there. They don't send tons of paper or electronic marketing messages.

I live in Chile. When I try to assess my account, they say that my social security number and account number are wrong but don’t give me options and of course, they are wrong. If I do get through, I have to use a number in the States and at the moment, it’s 5 hours earlier. What happens to someone that may not have assess to a phone in the States! Also, I send money to my account in Chile every month but since the change from Bank of the West—a bank I’ve loved for more than 50 years, it’s takes twice long!!

If you want to wait a minimum of 15-20 mins on the phone and/or in line at this particular branch then this is the bank for you. I was not happy when they transitioned from Bank of the West to BMO but I decided to give it a try. The service here has been terrible. Long waits & tellers who do not know what they are talking about. I was so dissatisfied with my service today that I closed my account. Would give zero stars if that was an option.

I've been using Bank of the West for over 20 years. Now I'm actively looking to replace my bank. About a year ago, the bank began charging fees it hadn't charged before. Then a month ago the bank just canceled my ATM card, no reason, it had been 'inactive' for too long (Covid??) Last week my husband went to the North Berkeley Branch and it was closed on a Tuesday; computer problems were blamed. Then, today, I went to the same branch and waited much too long, then the teller took my deposit. When I asked for cash, the teller told me her computer froze and no one else in the bank could get me my cash. She sent me to El Cerrito branch, where I waited another 45 minutes, tried to get cash, and got told her computer just crashed. Finally got cash from the last teller and left determined to find a better bank!

The staff was friendly and helpful . Masks are no longer required for those who are fully vaccinated but everyone working was wearing a mask.

THEY ARE TURNING AWAY BUSINESS. I had to make an appointment 1 week in advance to open an account. I received a call cancelling my appointment due to the New Accounts person is not in today. I asked the Branch Manager if someone else can help me and I was told no. I said to her that I have been a customer for over 30 years and that I wanted to stay loyal to the bank. My mother has her accounts there, I have had my accounts with Bank of the West since 1978!! She indicated that there are only 3 people working and that they need to take lunches, breaks, etc. But why couldn't she open the account? isn't that suppose to be customer service? and at times like these you're turning away business? I don't understand. I agree with Mua. The Bank Manager is not Customer service oriented at all. To me, she makes banking there difficult. Every time you have a transaction, there seems to be a problem I would move my accounts, but the location is convenient as I do not drive. I really don't get it. I also agree with Charles. I wish you had a MINUS star review option as well

The worst service there is, the bank is the worst, the ones that tend to tend all the time. Today I have to wait until 10:30 am. It's ridiculous.

I received a check from one of the members of Band of the West. When I called to see if check was good they told me that my bank could ask that but they would not give me the information. I went straight to my bank. My bank was told to go online to pay a fee and get that information. Now 3 weeks later we know the check is bad. NFS. They told me to take her to court. This is not a good bank. Good luck! This bank is located Minnesota.

Not enough tellers, staff has dull draft personalities as do the branch manager. Staff will help with any questions or concerns, but when compared to other branches, like Fruitvale, San Leandro, Hayward, Walnut Creek and so on. El Cerritos BOW is like walking into a deep freezer, the atmosphere is always chilli ? never warm. I often drive to another city to get service because of the dry air and I'm a people person so I need to feel comfortable with approaching the tellers and manager. Sometimes I feel intimidated and won't ask questions, I will go to another branch which can be 10 miles or more away.

I have been a customer with Bank of the West for many years. I have been satisfied most of that time. However, in the last year or so, I have noticed the computer system is SLUG SLOW, and there are never enough tellers. Today I waited for nearly 20 minutes to be helped. There were only 2 tellers! What the heck is going on with this company? Corporation?? What ever it is, things need to pick up. This is not acceptable. If I continue to see this, I will be taking my money and business elsewhere. So sad. It has been over 40 years I have been with this bank. Might be time to move on. : ( ( El Cerrito branch )
