I have been working with Kelsey - the owner of Move With Studio - for 2 years. I take private sessions due to my specific individual needs. I’ve been taking Pilates reformer classes for many years and have worked with many instructors.Kelsey is incredibly attentive, fully aware of what I want to work on while keeping in mind my specific needs. It’s obvious that her approach to our sessions is based on my individual needs and goals and isn’t a cookie cutter approach.I’ve not taken group classes at the studio, but often observe classes when I’m at the studio. If I was looking for group classes, I would have zero hesitation in participating.Kelsey takes great care in making sure her instructors are professionals who know what they’re doing. The studio is impeccably maintained and is a very pleasant space to be in.

Some idiosyncrasies about Move: Read the fine print and get alerts from your emails, or you'll lose out. My experience with Move with Studio was very mixed. I signed up due to a back injury from a car accident and took private lessons with Melanie, who was AWESOME. I felt so much better after every session with her. So, I bought a 20-class (not private sessions) package. The space is small, so competition for a class is tough. You have to wait for an email to tell you when sign-ups are open and sign up the prior month for all of your classes the following month (only a month at a time) or pray they have an opening if you want to go on short notice. The Mindbody app does not work well if you want to book recurring sessions at the same time and day of the week. You have to book them individually. After the first few classes (in which some of the instructors seemed a little annoyed with beginners...in the beginner class), I had a relapse with my back and was not able to attend the classes. With months of doctors appointments related to the accident, the classes were not top priority. The down time over the holidays gave me time to ask Move if my funds for classes could be converted to privates or fascia therapy (not asking for a refund at all). I was told my class funds had expired 28 days before I asked, so I was basically out of luck. I looked back, and there is a small line under the purchas class package button that your classes have a 6-month expiration date. However, there was no warning to remind me that my classes were going to expire. No opportunity to sign up for classes the following month. I essentially lost around $400+. **After a few minutes, the studio wrote me back to detail that I could find clear indications that the classes would expire in 6 months on the class purchase button and in the Mindbody online account (which is not easy to navigate at all) and an offer to extend classes for about 30 days. However, I could not convert them to privates or fascia therapy. Appreciated, but the problem was with the classes, which was clearly stated on my end.** If I ever go back to Move with Studio, which I doubt, I will see only Melanie for private sessions.

I can’t say enough about how amazing this studio is! I’ve been going for 1.5 years and it has made such a difference in the way I move, feel and carry myself. I was in an accident a few years back and went to multiple physical therapists, and found that Move With Studio is the PT I needed and more! Kelsey and her team are committed to quality and are highly skilled in their practice. I am so much stronger thanks to both private sessions and their small group classes where I get personal attention and great cues / corrections. Each class is different (the instructors are creative) and challenging. This studio has made me so much stronger in my daily life, playing with my kids, and doing the sports I love. I am so thankful for this studio and can’t recommend it enough!!

I joined this fabulous pilates studio in 2017 (trying to heal a Crossfit back injury that left me in chronic pain.) I felt so safe and welcomed by both the studio staff and the other attendees from the beginning. I love that all the teachers have such a deep understanding of the body mechanics and are always ready to help you modify or adjust as needed for your own abilities or injuries. And now that I have moved passed that, I love that they also give you a nudge or a challenge to take it up a level when you feel ready. The studio community is like a family and I encourage anyone looking for a safe and nurturing place to work on your strength this is a great place to go. Weekly Pilates classes has been one of the best gifts I've given myself and I thank Move With Studio for being my home studio.

I cannot say enough great things about Move With and the amazing teachers. I've been going now for almost a year and the difference in how I feel is remarkable. Kelsey, Miriam, Joanna and Florian have all helped me through various injuries and ailments. Everyone is patient, accommodating and most of all, they make me feel comfortable in class, they take time to adjust me for correct form and I feel so safe and cared for. I wish I had discovered Move With years ago, but am so glad I'm here now and ready to start another year! Thank you to the MWS family for everything!

If you're in the Bay Area/East Bay, consider yourself incredibly fortunate to have Move With Studio within reach. This is a world-class tier pilates studio. I personally do a lot of due diligence before committing to a studio or instructor, and the owner, Kelsey is one of the best in the world. She has intensive training from the best in the field, and has extensive experience (how many other instructors are teaching top models and NFL teams when they're not at their studio?). Additionally, while she looks like the embodiment of 'hot girl summer,' Kelsey is approachable, thorough and exquisite in her instruction. After years of working with her, I know that she's deeply passionate about the studio, and has invested so much back into the business, from installing her dream reformer machines (they really are top-tier machines), to revamping the entire look and feel of the studio. I can confidently say you're getting the best of the best with Move With Studio.

As a hairstylist of 15 years, my body was starting to feel the pain! I searched online and found a few places, but kept coming back to Move With Studio. After my first class, I was hooked and I wish I went in sooner! Everyone there, instructors and other clients are so welcoming and friendly. The conversations can be so funny that they help keep your mind from thinking "OMG my abs are on fire!" The classes I have been taking are challenging, but not impossible. As a small class the instructors are so helpful and mindful with your limits. I'm beyond happy finding this wonderful Pilates studio and I love the friendships I've made through this amazing place!

I’ve been a client at Move With since 2018 and there are several reasons why I still continue to take weekly classes at this wonderful studio. It really does start at the top and Kelsey is a business owner who carefully and faithfully provides services fairly and honestly. She and her team of instructors are inclusive and genuinely care about their classes/clients, young and old, experienced or beginners. I’ve taken private classes, reformer classes, and FST sessions and all formats are purposely designed to attend to one’s needs. I’ve taken classes with all instructors and I’m thankful for their varying techniques and personalities. Kelsey and other instructors helped me through not one, but TWO frozen shoulders in 3 years with FST and reformer modifications. To say MWS is an amazing studio is an understatement. Don’t ever leave El Cerrito Kelsey/MWS!

I'm a long time student at this studio and the reason I keep coming back year after year is because of the community. The instructors and members are wonderful people. No matter what level class I chose to participate in that day, I leave feeling accomplished and moved.

Move With Studio is an absolute Pilates gem in the Bay Area. As an avid lover Pilates, this place has it all! Balancer Body reformers, professional staff, amazing classes (i.e. group, private/duet classes, on demand classes) and Facial Stretch Therapy (a supreme treat)! The studio is very welcoming, clean, and always has a stellar playlist going (vibes for days). Highly recommend trying this place out if you're new or experienced in Pilates!

This studio is amazing. The space itself is wonderful but the best part are the instructors - they are knowledgeable, personable, and warm. While they each have their individual style, they are all great at helping you make the most of your class, no matter your level of experience. In fact, I’ve been here while recovering from surgery, and also during pregnancy, and I’ve always been impressed with how versatile and helpful the instructors were.I was really shocked to see someone give a negative review, and came here to defend the studio. I just want to share another perspective. As the other reviewer mentioned, Kelsey’s classes have quite a following but it’s not surprising bc she is fantastic. Class sizes are small and it’s helpful to book ahead, if needed. I’ve also taken privates and a variety of classes with other instructors and they have been top-notch too. I really appreciate how creative the classes are (which makes working out more fun), and the “flow” to the exercises which helps me get more in tune with my body. I always leave feeling great - stronger and more centered.

After seeing the one-star review I also felt the need to make sure that Move With Studio gets the credit it deserves. Indeed, everyone can share their own opinion, and I am sorry this client did not get the experience at the studio that I have been having. Starting a journey like this is very intimidating, especially when it's just 7 people in a room. But we all started out as newbies and have grown into small little communities over the last year. So yes, there are regulars, and classes tend to fill up quickly. But every new face is genuinely welcomed by the instructors, questions are asked, instructions are given. If you follow along with the instructions you get a 100% out of it what you put in. I need some modifications and the instructor will assist with whatever I feel comfortable with. I do have my to-go-to teachers and love them to the moon and back. So, thank you Miriam, Becky, and Kelsey for all your support and friendship. You are appreciated!

As I was looking up Move With Studio to refer to a friend, imagine my surprise when I read this review. Honestly, I was shocked. So much so I had to write a review to ensure there was some balance. This low star review in my opinion couldn’t be further from the truth. Kelsey and Move With Studio literally changed my life, my daughter’s life and my Mom’s life too.First let me state I am a Pilates OG, for lack of a better term. Before Pilates was “a thing” I was doing Pilates to lengthen my muscles, strengthen my core and just have more control of the minute muscles in my body I didn’t know about before pliâtes. Over time so many methods, machines, and teachers have come up in the Pilates world. I have tried them all. In the spirit of Joseph Pilates and true practice Kelsey is one of the best. Here machines are properly calibrated, easily adjustable (unlike others I have experienced) and you are assured to get a great workout.I went to Move with studio for years after I picked up weight by plainly just not working out. My daughter ,who is soon to be college athlete, goes to Kelsey and team for pilates and FST (if you haven’t tried FST is a game changer!) and my mother who is almost 80 years old started her pilates journey at move with studio and continues to train with one of the best instructors there.Needless to say, it’s been a great experience for us. I never thought I would have to add this but I am a women of color and over the years I have picked up weight. My Mom grew up in the segregated South so is more than familiar with racist treatment. Pilates is an expense and environment I can control, so if I am paying for pilates I am going to make sure I am in an environment that is welcoming, kind, and respectful of me and my family. Move with Studio and Kelsey has been more than kind, considerate and caring to us. Kelsey herself has gone above and beyond for me more times than I can count. I cant even begin to list all the support she has given my daughter.Everyone is entitled to their opinion and reviews but please keep in mind, one review by one person with limited history or context of a place is not a total reflection of that place. While I was saddened to read that negative review and I can’t or would never negate it. That person’s experience was her experience. I need to state that in my experience Move and Kelsey’s team have been and continue to be amazing. I tell everyone I can about Kelsey and recommend her practice first whenever talk of Pilates comes up. It is one of the best Pilates studios in the country.

The studio is small and looks modern but their Reformers are not calibrated and not all instructors are good. I will say that Kelsey is the best instructor but her classes are always full.My experience: After 5 weeks, I experienced a class with Kelsey, I looked at the studio’s schedule and Kelsey teaches a couple of classes per week but her classes are full.I took classes with Olivia but the classes were meh. I was unlucky to take classes with Becky and she is unprofessional. She is chatty and behaves as if she’s hanging out with a group of friends in high school during class. Avoid her.I’ve taken Pilates classes at a high-end studio in Atlanta and Kelsey is the only one at that level. Everyone else don’t really check the student forms and don’t use the Pilates terms. At least they didn’t check on me. For 6 weeks I took classes and I walked away feeling I wasted my time and money.About the reformers: the tension ropes are not calibrated. They are loose and uneven. My complaint to the owner: To my surprised, Kelsey seems to be owner. She was cold and distant in her response after I wrote an email giving feedback on what’s been happening on Becky’s classes. She simply removed me from her class. I asked for a refund for my second 20-class pass. At first she said she doesn’t give refunds but later on she agreed. I’m waking away feeling I annoyed her. I’mNot sure if this is a discrimination issue or not but as a person of color and obese, I felt I was looked at and treated differently. Hope this feedback make them realize their shortcomings.
