Elk Store is a historic, classic general store and nostalgic, rustic yet modern convenience shop perfectly perched high above and across the street from Greenwood State Beach. It is a fantastic spot and an essential visit on a peaceful, northern California coastal drive. The store offers an amazingly huge and impressive selection for its small size, with a broad range of assorted sundries, pantry items, and local provisions. This includes a much higher quality selection of local wines, beer, fruit and veg, and snacks that won't be found other places. The deli serves very good, freshly made, amazing, delicious, and sublime sandwiches and paninis, with the sliced bread noted as the best. The store also stocks souvenirs like wonderful, hand-thrown local pottery and coffee mugs. The people are amazing, with the owner noted as communicative, educational, and great to work with. It is the perfect stop for a mid-road trip picnic to take across the street to the wonderful, fantastic beach.
Stumbled onto Elk Store by chance on our roadtrip. Enjoyed chatting with the owner and family about local wines. The wine selection is much higher quality than many other local stores within 50 miles. Really appreciated the advice and service.
