I stayed there two nights, while skiing at Sugar Bowl. I quickly noticed something different about the Sierra Woods Lodge - the staff were friendly and helpful and there seemed to be ongoing interest in maintenance. I checkout I asked if they had recently changed management. The place got a new owner about 12 years ago and is run by a non profit, helping men with addiction recovery. Well done. Also, inexpensive and close to Tahoe.Rooms: Simple/rustic, but clean and functional.

Checked in early. The room was ready an hour early. The front desk and staff were very friendly. The room was very clean and bed bug free. AnG checks every bed in every hotel. The view from our patio was awesome. The snow-covered landscape eight in our "backyard" was awesome to wake up to this morning. The bed was comfortable, and the shower was ginormous. It's 15 minutes by car to Soda Springs( review coming soon) ski resort. Great restaurant attached( review coming soon as well). All in all, G's work schedule makes it tough to disappear overnight, so we're so glad we chose to spend it at Sierra Woods Lodge. 128.00 a night is more than reasonable. There's no in room microwave or fridge, so that could be a deal breaker for some. But we enjoyed it too much to care We will be back next snow season. Thanks Sierra Woods

Stayed two nights here in late September because we were visiting the nearby Emerald Pools. The staff was very accommodating of our late arrival, and check-in was super smooth. Staff at the lodge and restaurant were very friendly and welcoming throughout our stay.We stayed in Room 10, which was at the end of a hallway and had a picnic table with a view of the forest right outside the window. It felt very private and was especially lovely at night when the string lights were illuminated. The room itself was a little outdated and small, and there wasn’t a refrigerator, but the walk-in shower was spacious. There wasn’t AC, but the room temp wasn’t too bad because it was autumn and the window could be opened. The walls seemed to be a bit thin because we could hear our neighbors pretty loudly sometimes. We really appreciated the on-site convenience store which was really comprehensive and seemed to have everything from snacks to toiletries, first-aid, and clothing. The on-site restaurant The Rustic Table was also excellent! Sometimes hotel restaurants are just convenient and don’t have the best food, but we’d travel out of the way for a meal here, especially breakfast. We ate at the restaurant on Sunday morning, and everything was delicious and fueled us for the entire day exploring the Emerald Pools. We also called and ordered dinner the night prior, and they delivered the food right to our door!We would definitely stay here again! The rooms aren’t the most luxurious, but you’re nestled in a beautiful forest, and the on-site store and restaurant are right at your doorstep.

Quant little lodge tucked away in a lovely place, the rooms were very clean and the beds were so comfy! There's a cute little patio that is great for stargazing at night and sitting with a good book during the afternoon. The staff were super friendly and offered help to immediately fix any problems (not that there were any real problems). Not crowded, good price and worth what we paid for. Definitely stopping here again!

The kindest, sweetest staff ever! We arrived at about 2am and woke the front desk clerk from a very sound sleep. But he was genuinely kind and welcoming. And 20 minutes later when I woke him a second time because I had locked the keys in the room, he was equally kind. The room was basic, but clean and functional. We had a room with a king bed. The sheets were soft and comfortable. The bed was firm (not typically our preference) but still very comfy. Big bathroom, with excellent water pressure. In the morning I popped over to the attached restaurant for a coffee, which was delicious (and complimentary for hotelguests). Shortly after, we went for brunch. I had the BEST fish tacos - beautifully seasoned and topped with a fresh mango salsa. We also loved the fries. Homecut and well spiced. Overall, this is a basic hotel. The room is clean and comfortable, though dated. But the people are what make this place worth staying at. Every single person we encountered was kind, polite, and helpful. They definitely know how to make guests feel welcome and valued.

My bed was comfortable and the internet worked. The price of the motel room was very affordable, and the bathroom was bright and clean. When I took a bath, the water was nice and warm! The staff were helpful and friendly and the prices at the restaurant were shockingly affordable, and the food was good. Every employee I encountered was helpful and polite. I would stay here again.

Restaurant food was not good. The burger was one of the worst I've had, it was rubbery like an old shoe. There is no alcohol at the restaurant or tiny on site store. The room had an overwhelming perfume smell from wall plug ins. Would not recommend this place.
