For $275 a night I expected better. Rooms were comfortable, clean, spacious. Most of them had a nice balcony and a partial ocean view. The breakfast however was a farce. They were fit for human consumption but not much more beyond that.. frozen reheated plasticky tasting eggs, frozen sausage, and of course the usual mash of glorified processed American cereals and breads. So if you get what you pay for, the “free” breakfast certainly fit the bill. In a plus side it was decently close to the beach (which I wasn’t a fan of cos of all the pebbles on the sand) and close to the entrance of downtown Encinitas and good access to the shops and stores.

My stay started out ok. But then it took a terrible turn after the cops where called on me by someone. While that may have not been the fault of the hotel. Many other things where -actual ants in the hot tub (because of this on my wife's birthday I had to pick them out of her hair and teeth)-moldy and disgusting green shower head -bird poop on balcony-the dust that covered the curtains -the weird noise from the bathroom when the shower and the heat are on -even AFTER I asked. No towels in the pool area -no one to bring extra towels -the iced over mini-fridge Now the encinitan is not a big name hotel, so I don't expect the coffee to be good, or the 3$ vending machine soda to have something besides Pepsi and water. I can't expect for a small hotel to have a covered smoking area or elevators with up to date inspections. Because that's all stuff that only big name hotels have the flow to care about. But when it's a small "family owned" establishment. You at least expect the place to be clean. You at least expect the facilities to not put bugs in your hair. Those aren't budget issues. They are staffing and management issues. Jeff was actually great though. He's awesome and you should appreciate him better

Cockroaches are friendlier than the staff, watch your back if you complain about anything. Wear flip flops to walk over dirty tampons and carry a bottle of peroxide for the hot tub, better yet antibiotics. We had been coming to this hotel for 15 years, once or twice a year. New owner and the son have downgraded it to slumlord level. If any of this sounds fine and you like being gaslighted about being abused, I say go for it.

It was OKAYYY. My only complaint was the shower/tub. The water didn't want to drain and it was annoying while I showered. If I didn't turn the water off while I showered I would be ankle deep in my dirty shower water lol and it grossed me out

I was very disappointed the gym we were on the first floor and the gym was above us at 8:30 to 9:00 pm some one was running on the treadmill and it was so loud it drowned out the TV. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. When we called down to service desk no one answered. When we went to check out no one was there. Location is great it is close to the beach and downtown.

We stayed here a while back and it wasn't great but maybe it's different now. It looks great from the outside, and the rooms are okay, but the service from the front desk was poor. Hopefully it got better.

Room was clean, but basic with a dirty shower and a dorm room style fridge which was placed next to a table like an after thought. The hotel over all is very old and strange. I was confused upon arrival because the lobby doesn't give the appearance of a lobby. The lobby seems to be in the parking garage and the staff that was working when we checked in and out was not friendly. It looks like it could have been a nice hotel back in its hey day. I feel like we paid $300 for a $125 room. I would not recommend to anyone and I would not stay there again.Nearby activities: Short drive to downtown Encinitas and Leucadia.

I didn't get to stay. I actually made the reservation for the wrong date. But the place looks great and the front desk personnel were absolutely awesome. I was feeling really bad about my mistake but they offered options or cancelation, no penalty. The property is one block from the beach and a street fool of restaurants. I decided to get back home to Los Angeles but i will be back.

WARNING DO NOT STAY HERE! The lady at check in was very polite & professional. That's the only positive thing I can share as from there it immediately went down hill! Our room looked nothing like the photos online. This place is at best a motel 6 charging 5 star hotel prices. The room was dirty, the curtains were literally hanging on by a thread, they were falling off and tied back on with string. Our bed was slanted, creaking & appeared to be on a broken frame. I called to ask to switch rooms, they said they were fully booked but to call again in the morning. I did call again in the AM, they didn't have anything available for us. I asked if I could check out early and get a refund. The man on the phone said yes as long as I was out before 11am, however I traveled out of town for a medical appointment that was at 10am & there was no way I would make it out on time. I had to leave for my appointment & they entered the room when I wasn't there so they could clean & removed all my belongings without me present! Then they "lost" some of my things & when I asked for them back the man, who was very rude and verbally abusive towards me, refused to ask house keeping for my things & said "I'd just have to live without them"! I replied with "no, you'll have to reimburse me for my items". He then threatened to call the cops on me. The kind lady from the night before was there, she looked terrified & so was I. I have never been so mistreated, and traumatized in my life from a hotel stay.

This is a wonderful 30 year old inn. My room was large with a huge deck with oblique view of the Pacific. I am sure the more expensive rooms had direct views.Furnishings were neat and clean with glass tops on all flat surfaces. They showed little wear. King bed was just soft enough and comfortable with great linens.Air conditioning is built into the room, not a unit under the window like most hotels. It was excellent and quiet. Open sliding doors to patio deck in evening was a delight. This is the first hotel I've stayed in that the TV remote allowed one to pause the programming like a DVR. Nice touch. This is also the first hotel that offered free indoor parking, a real added bonus. Breakfast was poolside at the cabana and included several options of hot and cold fair. The location has great Pacific views. It is unfortunately very close to I-5 and associated traffic noise. Turning into the drive is a challenge also. The staff was first rate throughout my stay. I recommend without hesitation.

Location is about the only good attribute of this hotel. Basically, they tried to "put lipstick on a pig" when remodeling the previous Best Western hotel.Rooms are large, large balcony - that is a plus. However, very dodgy repairs were done in the room, it was haphazardly painted, it looked a bit run down despite the website showing you a different perspective. Refrigerators are larger than the normal ones you get in hotel rooms. Rooms could use a fresh coat of paint and touchups that would make a big difference.Elevators smell like mildew, reminds me of the smell when you leave your clothes in the washer for a few days. It was very evident in every elevator.I found a cockroach in my room on the 2nd night, yes...a cockroach. This was a first for me as I've stayed in worse hotels.Despite stating the top deck of the hotel is available for sunset views, it was closed.Continental breakfast was nothing to write about, and really bad coffee. The assistant manager (I was told he is the assistant manager, young guy) is a bit arrogant & condescending. Surprised he is a manager as he was wearing his baseball cap one day backwards and sitting aloof in the lobby/registration area.In the end, I would find myself hard pressed to stay here again. I didn't find the price to be reflective of what I received.I would suggest staying at the Hilton Hampton Inn/Cardiff which is about a mile south of this hotel and just on the other side of the 5 freeway. It's not as close but the accommodations, breakfast and cleanliness of the rooms and amenities are vastly superior and about the same price.

This hotel offers a diverse selection of rooms tailored to various types of travelers. The rooms are decorated in a cozy manner and have a spacious feel to them. Certain units feature a kitchenette, while others have a divider that separates the bedroom from the main living space. It's hard to find a better hotel in the immediate area, as it's located right next to one of Encinitas's finest beaches, you can easily walk to both the Encinitas train station and downtown area from here there is also a local park that's perfect for the kids. Conveniently located across the street from this hotel, Lazy Acres is a great choice for those looking for food-conscious and healthy meals. Additionally, it offers a range of grocery items for your shopping convenience. The staff is professional and appears to be attentive to your every need. Quick access to the Interstate and the 101 is available for business needs and trips that require a drive for adventures farther away.
