Coastal Roots Farm is a nonprofit Jewish community farm and a very positive presence in the neighborhood. The bi-weekly farm stand offers a bounty of freshly harvested, nice fresh seasonal produce, including typical greens like kale and chard, and other standards like tomatoes, beets, and carrots. They also have farm fresh eggs and a few unique things you can't find in stores. Supply depends upon the harvest. The farm is fun, educational, and rewarding. It provides free and paid hands-on educational opportunities and volunteer opportunities. This is a great opportunity for kids to learn about agriculture and sustainable farming practices. The farm fosters meaningful dialogue about cultivating a healthy and connected community through food, often around events like the Shmita year. Reservations for a public tour offer an easy way to learn more about their sustainable agriculture and compost operations, and they accept compost scraps. Located next to the captivating Butterfly Garden, it's a nice little place to visit or shop regularly. The environment is amazing and managed by the friendliest, sweet, and helpful folks who deserve continued support.
We just discovered this wonderful place! There is a fantastic kids play learning opportunity three days a week and if you’re looking for a great outdoor activity with a young child, this is a must do!
