I started to shop at Kohl’s Encinitas California after my wife introduced me to the store. In most cases they are reasonably priced but often run sales could be up to half off.
I find the prices of pretty reasonable the quality is on par with many of the high-priced stores. I was recently in the market for sport jacket I was shocked to visit six stores finding prices that exceeded $200 and the quality was not really good.
I figured I’d give Kohl’s a look and found a decent jacket that was on sale $120. Also have the option to purchase matching pants if you wanted to make it into a suit. I thought that was a good idea and made that purchase.
For those of you who do not know this Kohl’s is a drop off point if you want to return Amazon purchases at no charge. You do not even need a box just information on the purchase. I guess that works out for Kohl’s because on my recent visit a large number of people returning to Amazon packages used the receipt for the returned package as it contains a coupon allowing you to buy something at 15% discount. I watched several people doing just that to buy something at the store. In my mind that is very good marketing.
The discount is good for about 5 days in case you do not have time during that visit. If you do not have a Kohl’s card and sign up that day you get a 35% discount on your first purchase. They might offer this without a return to Amazon making this a great discount.
Kohl’s is not just a clothing store although most of the inventory is dedicated to just that, they have a host of other products from pots and pans to house decorations.
If you sign up Kohl’s credit card you receive notices and discounts. If you charge on the card almost every month you get special discounts by mail. I personally would rather pay by check so when I purchased something I charge it to get the biggest discount and then write a check to pay off the amount due right there.
While I’ve heard of this complain about the service and they do at times appear limited as far as the people on the floor except the registers I have never found an issue with this. The few times I could not serve myself it was easy to flag someone down. They have been exceptional helping me. I would say they have excellent service and so far, I have never had a problem.
I think this is a well run store with good products at reasonable prices.

I am a loyal shopper and kohls card holder. I bought some mascara that was recommended to me. I had just opened it a few weeks ago even after I bought over 30 days ago. it is goopy and globby. but because it came thru SEPHORA she would not refund me. I will never buy anything from kohl's sephora again... sometimes you can't tell if something is good or not immediately. so I just won't buy from them anymore.

This is not a review of the store in general but of Kohl’s Corporate and IT team. I drove 2 hours in traffic because their app showed that they had this item available for pickup, asap and not 1, w or in 5 days. I have been a customer of Kohl’s for many years and use the app 90% of the time so I do know what I am doing and what to expect.
I arrived at Kohl’s Encinitas and walked around the store to find the fragrances. I asked for assistance and the associate was very kind and friendly. Unfortunately, she had to be the bearer of bad news and informed me that their location no longer sells fragrances (cologne/perfume, etc). I showed her the app to show that it was available and of course she wouldn’t know what to say. I did thank her for her assistance and drove back another 2 hours with a tank half empty of $5.89 per gallon fuel.
Moral of the story here Kohls folks is that you need to update your supply chain logistics and technology. In this day and age, retailers should not have these inconsiderate mess ups. Top to bottom you need to run though your systems and operations and expect perfection and precision from all of your team members and corporate officers.
Understand the frustration and fix the issues at hand before you fall victim to Amazon and shut down all of your locations.
