Other than the worker following us everywhere, it was a great experience. We used the restroom as soon as we walked in(family of 6), because we were driving and taking the scenic route from San Diego to Los angeles. Heard about this place on tiktok for best cookies in SD. We came for the cookies and bakery items.
The restrooms: very clean and modern. This always tells me a lot about food in any store or restaurant.
The cookies: The chocolate chip was so yummy. Even after a day it was still soft and delicious, if not better than the day before. The chocolate chip with nuts wasnt me or my hubbys fav but my oldest loved it! i think they used milk chocolate chips for the original cookie and dark for the nut one.
The pastries: The birthday macaron is a 9/10. The only thing my kids didn't like was the flavor of the edible metallic spray, Which is common so I wont hold them for that. The Oreo cheesecake was a 10 out of 10 for my kids. my 2yo ate a whole one by himself and refused to share lol. my son rated the cannoli 7/10. He said it was good but nothing to rave about. He also had a chocolate macaron, And he loved it 20/10!!! My hubby also got a Raspberry cheesecake and he liked it. 8/10. Everything was affordable which was a plus with such a big family.
other notes:the bakery staff was sweet and patient with my kids and answered all of our questions. I love that they have complimentary water by the seating area. The man following us around made me upset but we were on vacay so i tried to "look past it" just this once. The store is very organized and clean and well labeled so you can tell exactly where everything is.
Over all we will be back, and hopefully won't be followed.

Probably one of my favorite grocers to go to. A little on the pricier side but I think for the items you can find & quality, it's a trade off.
Really good hot soup selection everytime I'm there & hot food bar is a hit or miss, but 90% hits.
Pastries are good; deducted one star only because a couple times have I seen flies in the fresh pastry selection and it's offputting. Which is a shame because they have good muffins and scones. But most of the time Ive been there, there's been no flies; just be wary.

Excited to see the new food options at the local Lazy Acres Market. Self checkout ran smoothly and was a pleasant experience.

This is regarding the Encinitas , CA store ..Food and grocery is great but they allow homeless to basically “ camp” with all of their belongings on the tables that are meant for customers to eat their purchased food. Asked a store employee to send out the security guard but employee told me to go eat at the tables belonging to a sandwich shop a few stores down. This is pretty disrespectful and unsafe for their paying customers. I hope they can figure out a way to fix this .

On October 10, 2024, my husband and I, both Brazilians, faced humiliating and defamatory treatment at Lazy Acres in Encinitas. While my husband was filling his container at the salad bar, the sushi manager, Mike, loudly accused him of tasting food from the bar, even though he was only eating from his own container. When I approached Mike to discuss the situation calmly, he began yelling at both of us and falsely accused me as well, embarrassing us in front of other customers.
This isn't the first complaint about discriminatory treatment at this location. So far, I’ve found *17 similar* complaints on Yelp and at least *4* on Google, but I haven't scrolled through all the reviews yet. There are numerous negative comments specifically about the sushi bar, including issues with flies and complaints about the staff unprofessional behavior, which is unacceptable.
The store manager, Chris Werneth, did apologize and confirmed that the security footage showed my husband' s version. We declined Chris's offer to cover our expenses because we weren't seeking anything for free, just respect. We filed a formal claim and are currently waiting for a response regarding how they plan to address this situation.
I will pursue this matter further, as our experience was deeply humiliating and defamatory. I hope Lazy Acres takes this situation seriously and implements appropriate measures.

pricier grocery store than the average… nonetheless very clean and organized.. but why is the coffee and smoothie bar closed in the MORNING?! waste of resources and customers who would like a coffee or drink in the morning
