About Self-Realization Fellowship Meditation Gardens
Self-Realization Fellowship Meditation Gardens, established by Paramahansa Yogananda in 1937, offers a serene and peaceful environment for meditation and contemplation. Located on a cliffside, the gardens feature lush greenery, vibrant flowers, and stunning ocean views, allowing visitors to connect with nature. The gardens are open to the public year-round, free of charge, and provide a perfect setting for quiet reflection or leisurely strolls. While the gardens are praised for their beauty, concerns have been raised about the treatment of koi fish in the ponds, which appear to be overcrowded and not well-maintained. Visitors are reminded to dress modestly and maintain a quiet atmosphere, as this space is meant for meditation. The Hermitage, where Yogananda lived and wrote, requires a reservation for those wishing to visit its preserved rooms. Overall, the Meditation Gardens are a beloved destination for those seeking tranquility and inspiration.
One of my favorite places to visit when stressed, and it’s never very crowded. So peaceful and breathtaking views

This place is so magical. I had such fun looking at all the plants and the koi pond. While there, I glimsed a fox and the largest bunny I have ever seen. They have many spaces tucked into the environment that is wonderful for reflecting or meditating. I truly didn't want to leave.
