Easy quick convenient vaccines for pets on a weekend! Dr Reinicke and staff at this location are friendly, patient, and go above and beyond for our furry loved ones. Was such a nice experience for all. Prices are VERY reasonable and affordable too! Highly recommend them!

I had a very confusing in store experience at this location. After standing there obviously needing assistance and no one offering- I asked for help with a question I had, and the woman said she would get someone to help me.... I waited for what seemed like a very long time, I saw about 5 different people that looked like they worked there that seemed like they would be able to help me, but no one did- at one point a woman came from the back somewhere and said Hi to me as she walked by- I was very happy because I though someone finally came to help me only to see her go to the front, then go right back to wherever she came from... I eventually went to ask again to make sure someone was coming and that I hadn't been forgotten about, but the response I got was.... I'll say rude or nonexistent- I had to ask her again if someone coming or not- I went back to where I'd been waiting, and the woman I asked to help or get someone to help with my question pointed me to an area with people that were dressed in different clothing (groomers clothing?) in the grooming area that were very obviously very busy- I was confused- she was saying to ask the woman at the groomers area that clearly looked busy and was carrying a dog with her- so I was confused and told the groomer I could wait, and her response was that no she was in the middle of a bath- that I should ask her my question- which was confusing to me... as there were plenty of people in the store area that were very clearly not busy the entire time I was waiting that I would think could have helped me with my question- so I asked it as quickly as I could and she helped me. The thing I don't understand at all is why on earth the woman I asked to get someone to help me with my question would have me wait such a long time, then point me to the very busy people in the grooming area of the store- when there were at least 5 different people that did not look busy except for sometimes when a customer would come to the front to check out- ??? The store seemed well stocked. There's a different "Pet" store not far from this one that I've had much better experiences with. I don't think I'll be back to this one anytime soon.

They honestly don't know anything they are talking about when it comes to pet nutrition. A lot of the food they sell has carbs and they carry a bunch of lines that are trying to make a quick buck just like Petco. Cool that they sell hamsters and such tho.

Awful dog grooming by Aubrey at Encinitas Petco! I specifically asked her not to groom my calm 3 yr. poodle mix all the way down & leave an inch of hair on the sample they show you. When I picked him up she never came out to greet me. The girl @ the groomers desk brought him out. He didn't even resemble my dog. Hair scalped down to the skin! I left her a 20% tip but wouldn't have if I had first seen my dog. I thought I was very specific asking what I wanted. This was only his 2nd time groomed. He seemed traumatized!

Appalling. The two girls who "manage" the grooming department are beyond unprofessional and seem to think it's funny to go out of their way NOT to help customers. The grooming department had the vibe of a junior high with giggling mean girls in charge. I've never seen anything like it in my life. Without telling you the whole ridiculous story, let's just say as I was taking to the General Manager at the front of the store when one of the girls popped out from behind a wall and yelled "It sucks to be you!" My 8 year old daughter who witnessed the entire debacle said, "Mom, I think this is a knock off Petco store, let's just go to the real one in Del Mar." Needless to say, I will be getting in touch with corporate. My experience was over the top horrific and bizarre.

I usually love Petco and have nothing but good experiences until this week. My daughter was gifted a plecostemus. It died within a day so we went to Petco Encinitas and got her two new ones. We talked to the sales person about the size of the tank and he advised us to get the tiny sized plecos. I was concerned because I saw a dead pleco floating in the tank but we took the plecos home. They were dead before we arrived. Ok, fish die. I understand, I even used to work in a pet store. But when I went back the new sales associate was rude and refused to replace the fish in accordance with their 30 day fish return policy. I saw the entire tank the plecos came from was closed off and she told me the fish were all sick (so I paid for 2 sick fish) but she said they cannot replace the two tiny plecos I already bought for my daughter because my tank isn't the right "setup." We already had purchased a brand new tank, gravel, accessories and spend over $100 for these tiny plecos. She associate was cold and not at all apologetic to my daughter about her fish (my daughter cried over these fish). In addition, she asked me who sold me the fish and snickered with her coworker when I told her (basically trashing her own coworker right in front of a customer which was super unprofessional). If the sales associate had been a bit kinder and more professional I wouldn't be writing a negative review.

I just finished a 4 week private training course for my puppy Mack with Emily. She is so awesome! Helped me out tremendously with my Golden Retriever puppy. Basic commands he knows very well and she always gave me great advice on puppy play and help preventing his nipping, considering I have a 14 month old boy at home. I'm confident I'll have a well trained dog as we progress. He's already made strides in improvement since we started. I already signed up for advanced training! Can't wait. Thanks Emily!

This is one of the better Petco stores I've been too, it's pretty big and they have a lot of stuff. The staff is friendly and the store is clean. What made my trip the most memorable was the staff at the grooming salon. My dog was pretty nervous and they made her feel safe and were so friendly and supportive. I'd definitely be back just for that alone! Thank you Petco!

On Halloween I tried on 2 separate occasions to buy an Australian rainbow fish, both unsuccessful. I'd like to preface this by saying I'm not underage, myself and my family have had an array of pets including fish, and like most people have access to the internet to do research. The first staff member approached, a young lady, said I needed a 5-6gal tank and that there needed to be 3-4 of them since it had to be in a school. She also mentioned that they grew to be about 4in long and therefore needed a bigger tank. Later that day I came back and approached a second staff member who happened to be the manager of the store. He said I needed 10gal tank, never mentioned the growth of the fish, and said I needed like 6-7 of them. On top of this, he also said the freshwater tank had to be in place for 2 weeks before I could get the fish. As a replacement fish he said I could get a Beta since they were easy to "just throw in there". This was ironic because later when the store was called regarding this incident, he said he was looking out for "what was best" for the fish yet when I was there I saw at least 3 Beta fish dead in little cups. I also double checked with the petco website and it states in the Stabilizing Period section "Wait until the tank has remained stable for at least 24 to 48 hours before adding any fish." There is no mention of a two week waiting period and the staff has very clear inconsistencies with regard to information about their animals. This was all on top of the fact that the store only had a SINGLE Australian rainbow fish to sell, which they would have noticed if they had taken the time to at least walk to the fish section of the store. After this experience I will not be returning to any Petco store in the future and will advise friends and family to do the same.

Used to LOVE this place when I took my dogs to Jessica but today was a nightmare! I scheduled three days prior online and called to reconfirm the services the next day - I spoke directly with the groomer Alyssa. I even called to reconfirm the day before. I arrived on time for the scheduled appointment at 1:00 with my two dogs and Alyssa said, "Okay let me get them and put them in the kennels so I can go on my break." I asked about whether I could come back later when her break ended so that they wouldn't be in the kennels so long. It's pretty common knowledge that kenneling dogs for prolonged periods in strange environments is traumatic for them. I watched as the woman in line before me had to ask for her dog to be brought out immediately because she said, "I can hear her freaking out in there!" They reluctantly brought the dog out while negating the customer's concerns, saying, "She's not freaking out, she's just excited to see you!" Nope. That dog was shaking like a leaf and clung like a baby to her mom when they finally brought her out. I then asked if she could do one of my dogs while I walked the other and then we could switch dogs. My goal was to minimize the time my dogs were stuck just sitting in the kennels not being worked on, as she estimated that she would be done with them between 4-4:30. That's what I used to do with Jessica. She would text me when she was just about done with one dog and I'd come back and switch dogs. EASY! And it is what's best for the DOGS! Alyssa then abruptly said, "Well, then do you want to just reschedule? Because I don't have time for all that." She didn't have time to make sure my dogs were at ease and well cared for? Hmmm. Who books a service at the time of their break? This just shows total disregard for the welfare of the animals. Alyssa tried to back pedal after I questioned her tone asked to speak to the manager and then she kept offering to reschedule in a fake polite voice but I already knew that there were no appointments for several more days and I hoped to get them done sooner. I had a great experience here in the past with a Jessica but the annoyed tone Alyssa used with me today, combined with the weird scheduling during her lunch break, and lack of concern for the comfort of my dogs made it a NEVER AGAIN experience. It was all about what was convenient for Alyssa, not the customer. Awful experience.

Petco is a common known store, but I still think that it is good to write a review for those who do not know of it. The toys that I got there were good, OK quality, and kind of expensive. I never got a collar for my dog there, but I was about to, but never got to it, because NONE of the collars were nice and soft, the people working there are nice, but I can't give it a full five stars, because it is pretty expensive, and not amazing quality, but it still has a lot of things that your pet will need, and this is a store that you can always find easily, so if you are in a rush to get something for your pet, this is a pretty good store for it. Thank you for reading my review, and I hoped that it helped a lot!

Purpose of Vetco was to be able to walk in for vaccines but now people have to schedule an appointment and they are 3 to 4 weeks out. I will take my business to a local veterinarian because they will be able to provide service within 2 days.
