Youth program is great! We started our daughter at 4 years old. She was shy at first bit we didn't want to give up so we encouraged her to keep going. She was scared because she's small and everyone else is taller than her but these awesome children took her under their wings and she's come out of her shell completely. I can see her confidence building every time she attends class. Many thanks to Jackie and her team!

Gracie-Barra is right next door to my resale shop, Humble Heart Vintage Store & Boutique and the staff there are amazing and super nice! Many of my customers are enrolled in classes there and love the place! I would highly recommend Gracie Barra to ANYONE!

Been training here for years now. Lots of good people to train with and excellent instruction. Great school for people who would like to learn jiu-jitsu and train without the fear of a group of people trying to snap your limbs and choke you to sleep at every chance they get in the name of "training"! As for the "money issues" in others reviews Ive read, Professor Magid does what he can, as soon as he can, to remedy any payment issues. If there is a problem, it has usually been 1 of 4 things1) Student failed to show up and sign required paperwork to properly cancel or put on hold2) Student would not reply to phone, text, or email messages when trying to reach out3) There is an issue with the billing company and it is unknown until processing cycles are finished4) Someone got upset and instead of communicating any issues or problems, goes straight to complaining. When moving to this state, due to past experiences at other schools, I really made an effort to do research and physically visit other local gyms. That being said, there's a reason why I picked Gracie Barra Escondido and have stayed for 7+ years.

If you want to learn from the real deal in the North County area of San Diego, this is a great place to start. The schedule is doable, the instructors are professional, the students are respectful, and the facility is always clean. The standards are high, the people are friendly, and Professor Magid is amazing.

I found Gracia Barra just walking by one day. I decided to stop in and see what it was about. Professor Magid is the owner and he had me try it on a Monday night. The first person I met was the highest rank lady Jackie and she partnered with me and made the class so educational and also fun. After one class I decided to sign up and here we go three years later I'm still coming and I love it. Magid is a fantastic Professor, he makes learning self defense very easy and very fun. They have encouraged and teased me many times. I don't just go here to learn jiujistu, they have also become like a second family to me. They encouraged me so much I've competed three times as scary as it was. Doing Jiujitsu here has built up my confidence. Not only to protect myself if anything happened to me but also it changed the way I feel about myself. My body isn't just something to look good, it's something to work for me, and that's what training here has taught me. I plan to train here until I'm a grandma Jiujitsu practitioner, if my body lets me haha. I love Gracie Barra Escondido!

My son attended classes for over a year and then when he decided to discontinue they continued to charge us. I spoke directly with Maggid and he said he would look into it and get back to me. Initially I wasn't too concerned and had complete faith that Maggid would do the right thing and refund the unauthorzed payments. However, now that i have read several other reviews about issues with billing and no refund i am not sure how this will play out.

Started training here back in January, my first time ever training Jiu Jitsu... everyone has been super friendly & helpful even going out of their way to give tips.. The owner/main teacher Magid keeps a great family culture in his gym! Anyone who's complaining about their card being charged after they leave... theres a 3rd party company that bills you, you're leaving a bad review for the wrong person

Very disappointed with their business ethics. They continued to bill my credit card after we discontinued membership. Initially Magid said he would look into the situation but since has just stopped responding. According to reviews on their website others have had the same experience. Shame on you Magid. The 3rd party biller , Mark L at D&S, informed me they can only process refunds that are approved by Magid. Magid spoke to me once and said he would look into the matter. He replied to a text stating he would look into it and then stopped replying or answering my calls. Our son did enjoy their classes. He became a little bored but overall had a good time. Im happy to change my review rating if the unauthorized payments are refunded; but until then customers should be made aware.
