What a charming retreat hidden in the mountains next to San Diego Safari Park (3 miles away). We spent a night in the Nightingale cottage. Beautiful. Romantic. In the middle of nowhere and still within reach of every amenity (wifi, streaming TV, Uber Eats, lovely kitchenette). We had a small party in back patio. That was sool cool in the middle of the night. Beautiful grounds. We loved exploring. The pool was gorgeous. When they open that restaurant, that place will be even more incredible. Rustic, peaceful. In the middle of nature. The cottage was clean and cool and very cozy during one of hottest days of year. Loved the bed frames. Would like to buy one just like. If you can tell me where you bought them. Just getting there is worth the adventure. A most memorable trip that we will never forget. Thank you Bandy Ranch. Great staff too.
Rooms: We loved Nightingale.
Nearby activities: Next to San Diego Safari Park. Vineyards everywhere. We drank some local wine. It was delicious.
Safety: Felt very safe being in middle of nowhere. Loved the front gate entrance and having our cottage right next to our car and front desk/charming shop.
Walkability: Walking the grounds. Otherwise need vehicle.
Food & drinks: Uber Eats and lots of local wine!
Noteworthy details: Just a hidden gem that is very worth the trip.

Disappointing Stay at Bandy Canyon Ranch - Poor Maintenance and Hostile Manager. Front desk was helpful.
We booked a 3-night stay at Bandy Canyon Ranch at one of the largest cottages. First night there was no hot water, rendering that bathroom unusable. Since there was no mechanic available at night, we had to wait until the next day. Unfortunately, next morning the mechanic called in sick, and the issue wasn't resolved until much later, significantly impacting our first two days of stay.
On the second day, the ranch ran out of mid-sized towels so those weren’t replaced. The third day our infant soiled himself in the car, so we had to return to the cottage to clean him and the car seat. However, the property’s water pipe broke, so there was no running water for several hours. I spoke to the manager, Emma, who was rude and dismissive. She stated that these issues were "out of my control" and suggested using the ranch’s communal restroom to bathe our infant, which I found unacceptable and uncomfortable, I expressed my frustration that there should be other plans to consider, such as having an on call plumber to stand by if the regular plumber can’t come in, or offering us other cottages’ bathroom instead of a communal one, etc. However, she raised her voice and suggested if we’re not happy with the situation, then leave the property. Her hostility made us uncomfortable, and we eventually decided to leave.
For a place charging nearly $600 per night, I expected a much higher standard of maintenance and service. Our stay at Bandy Canyon Ranch was a major letdown, and I would not recommend it to others, especially families with young children.

We bought a pool pass for the day. I felt it was expensive just to sit by a pool but the overall vibe and nature we were surrounded by was gorgeous. We left feeling relaxed.

This was a last minute getaway. It's beautiful quiet and pristine. Front desk ladies were very helpful kind and polite. It's really a very great getaway, you forget your still in San Diego. Only thing I would have liked to experience is the restaurant.

We took our two very young kids here and couldn’t have had a better time! The grounds were stunning, staff was attentive and helpful and cabins were clean and well stocked. The kids had lots of fun touring the rescue animal farm, making s’mores for the first time, playing on the playground and playing in the game room. Thank you for all the special memories, we hope to be back soon!

This is honestly a little hidden gem. Very quiet. Very relaxing. Great place to relax and get some calm. There is a sanctuary on the property as well. Non-profit. Adorable animals to see. Highly recommend

We originally booked two nights at Bandy Canyon Ranch at the end of April, and we finally decided to extend one more night because of the amazing and unforgettable staying experience!!!
This gated place located in a valley is like a big garden which makes your walk here so relaxing and enjoyable. Your cell phone is no longer for making phone calls, checking emails and playing games when you stay here. Taking photos is the only phone function you will need (yes, we did took a lot of photos because we were surprised to see plenty of cool plants that we wouldn’t be able to name them). You can easily tell from lots of details how hard the ranch staff is working to maintain this beautiful place.
Sitting in front of our cottage, I heard birds singing, wind whistling, and our dog snoring (your puppy friend will love this place). And my nose was surrounded by the smell of trees, grasses and flowers. I just sat there for a few hours without doing anything and thinking anything. Time flied even slower when passing by, because it also wanted to take a nap at this quiet place.
Planning to visit San Diego Zoo Safari Parks? Don’t worry about getting on highway and meeting traffic jam, since it takes only 10 minutes from the Ranch to the Safari Park by local route.
The Ranch doesn’t serve lunch and dinner so far. You can either do food delivery or drive out to eat. I cannot imagine how fantastic it will be when they are ready to prepare something like prime rib, home-made pizza or double cheeseburger with bacon for their guests. Even though their restaurant is not open yet, they do offer guests a complimentary breakfast basket with lots of good-quality stuff inside it. Personally I think having this basket is better than having the regular hotel breakfast, since you don’t need to go out your room, taking the elevator to the lobby, and waiting for the staff assigning you a seat. When you open your eyes in the morning in your cottage, just sit by the window and have a slice of bread, a cup of milk, a bowl of yogurt and a fresh orange. A great start of the day, isn’t it?
If there is anything that the Ranch needs to improve, I will say the shower head is a little bit too old to function very well. And I am not quite sure if the tap water is drinkable, maybe it is but we just didn’t know it? I don’t want to mislead other guests. Anyway, these tiny things wouldn’t affect our entire amazing staying experience at all.
I will definitely recommend this place to everybody around me. No matter you travel by yourself or with your family, Bandy Canyon Ranch must be the right place to get rid of noise, chaos, and annoyance.
We didn’t travel too much since Covid happened. This trip really brought us back to the time when the word Covid hasn’t appeared.
Thank You Bandy Canyon Ranch!

I stayed here with my family for one night. It was a lovely experience. We were welcomed with a food basket of yummy food, the room was clean, the property was beautiful.
My only issue is the phone in our room did not work, we had no cell service so getting a hold of someone was difficult.

I had my wedding at Bandy Canyon Ranch 11/4/23, and we had all of our immediate family and wedding party stay in the cabins. We got to enjoy the ranch for the entire weekend, and it felt like a glamorous, relaxing summer camp.Emma Morrison was beyond phenomenal to work with in the many months leading up to the wedding and over the weekend. She is kind, funny, and incredibly caring. She truly wanted us (and our family and friends) to have the perfect wedding. If there were any hiccups, she was quick to give some suggestions EVEN when it had nothing to do with the ranch! While we dealt mostly with Emma, I still have to sing the praises of everyone who works at the ranch. Heading into the wedding weekend, we expected that there would be things that went wrong or didn't turn out exactly how we planned. However, the weekend exceeded our wildest dreams. The staff was so incredibly kind and accommodating. If there was anything we needed, they not only appeared within minutes but they often went above and beyond our request. If I didn't know better, I would say there were magical fairies working throughout the weekend to make sure everything ran smoothly. Every single one of my family members and guests could not stop raving about how the ranch and just how uniquely beautiful and special it is.I'm tearing up writing this review because everyone at Bandy Canyon Ranch gave me the most magical weekend of my life, and my new husband and I can't thank them enough.Rooms: They have been updating the cabins, and all of them have their own specific charm. Every SINGLE guest loved their cabin. If anything was missing, the front office had it brought over within minutes. The bathrooms also had really nice beauty products in them (nicer than I even use at home), so I felt very pampered.Noteworthy details: I loved how even though we had to check out at 11:00 am, we were still able to stay on the property and use the pool. It made it easier to get the rest of the post-wedding details sorted before heading out! They work solely with Grand Restaurant Group (GRG) for catering events and the food was some of the best wedding food I have ever had. I had told them that 2 of my sisters were celiac, and even though I never asked them to do this, they altered some of their recipes for the hors d'oeuvres to make sure they were GF. Their bartenders and staff were so friendly and accommodating for all of our guests (not just the bride and groom!!).
