Not going back. I just scanned and bagged $90 in groceries because there was no other option. I understand maybe on slow shifts, but we keep paying more for less. Hire people, Vons. People are suffering between the high prices and businesses passing work onto the customers instead of giving people jobs. Do better.

They have a wide range of foods...fresh, frozen....the service was good...and the store was clean....stopped at Vons, because I was having lunch with a friend in the same shopping center. Got to do $5.00 Friday....since I usually go to Albertsons....took a bit of time to find what I was looking for...even got things off my shopping list.

Need to give an update as things have not improved here despite "Dawn" who replied below saying she would talk to management. Where to begin.. When a new season starts the seasonal items don't go on sale, they just get rid of them, for example the day after Halloween they removed all the candy and replaced it with candy canes! We're talking November 1st. Sale items often don't reflect at self-checkout. Today Ben and Jerry's ice cream was supposed to be 2 for $6, mix and match as advertised on the items. When I got to the register they rang up as $6 each and after bringing this to the manager's attention she did not care or offer any sort of apology. Ended up leaving with only 1 item. Self-checkouts are a mess, half of them were down and it was an extremely slow process ironically. Overall I will not be returning to this Vons.

Been coming to the El Norte location for years and I've seen a decline in customer service, specifically the night crew. Besides the larger man that's a supervisor (he's been excellent btw) the rest of the employees appear to be bothered by doing their JOB. The self checkout froze midway through scanning. No one was there to assist. The short Latina woman with dreads (apparently a supervisor as well) looked over, saw the light flashing but walked away. When the cashier at another lane called for her, she still did not come and instead stood at the far register looking through paperwork. I'm not going to assume what her priorities are, but customer service is a large portion of the job. I've had encounters with this same woman before and was given short, rude, not helpful answers. I stood there waiting for several minutes before I flagged down another employee. This woman rolled her eyes like somehow I'm inconveniencing her! All she said was, "I need to reboot the system, you'll have to recheck all your items, sorry," and walked away. I had many items already scanned so instead of risking this experience again, I packed up and moved to an actual checkout lane. This same employee, comes over, sees me waiting and asks another customer if they wanted to move into a newly opened register. Why wouldn't you ask the person that just had to repack all their items and move to another lane?! Reading through the reviews on here, besides "our sincerest apologies," Vons management do better and hold your staff accountable to higher standards of customer service.

Everywhere you go food is up. Every $100 you spend can go towards gas which again is way up. Every little bit helps when you are dealing with the economy we are in.

For some reason this store is constantly out of a large number of items. If I go to the upper Vons, they have those items in stock. It's got to be a management issue. My biggest issue is with the girl in the deli. Short young girl with a huge attitude. I know it's not just with me because my friends have said the same thing. Terrible service!

Lolol I went to the sbux in this Vons location where there were FOUR people in the kiosk, including a Vons employee, they all looked at me like trash and smirked as I stood there and waited for them to do something like their jobs, or even acknowledge me, until I walked away. Always a pleasure guys

There seems to be a morale problem at this store. No employee offered help to myself or any customer I saw. At the checkout register there was an issue, the transaction was canceled and nobody helped.

My review is for the bakery. I ordered a 5" smash cake a few days before my son's 1st birthday party. I was kind of last-minute on this task and only gave them a size and a vague idea of what I wanted. The cake was ready on time and was super well-done and cute! I really wasn't expecting it to be as cute as it was but it was adorable. My son loved every bite of it and we eventually had to pry it away from him because he was really ready to eat the entire thing in one sitting. The total was only $10.99. I think this was the first time I've ordered a grocery store cake, but that's an amazing price in my opinion! I'll definitely visit this Vons again should I need a custom cake for my kiddos.

Store has made improvements since the 1 star review. There are less boxes blocking aisles, and it seems like there are more employees on staff to consistently handle the workload without getting overwhelmed. Still has issues with the freezers and other room for improvement. Still seems like workers don't have a place to go for a break.

Dawn needs to ask herself, why does this Vons store has 2 stars rather than spend her time on the lookout for Yelp reviews - which, here, she addressed with lightining speed.

Ok Escondido. I'm so sorry to say that this review is SPACIFICALLY for the meat counter. I truly love everyone who works in this location, but the two men working this morning need to be discussed. When I walked up to the counter to buy bacon the two men were discussing the Bible. My wife said to me, "there's a lot better books than the Bible" and both men said "no there isn't!" I was uncomfortable. This shouldn't be a topic at my grocery store with the staff. I was very uncomfortable and reported it to a manager. I need to stress that the rest of the staff rocks! If you're not a Christian, watch the meat counter.
