I called for an inspection because I was going on a road trip across the country. They got me in that day. He kept my car over night and looked it over, test drove it and even changed a rusty bolt on my battery just because it needed it. He didn't see anything wrong with my car and didn't even charge me for the inspection despite having spent time on it. Highly recommend.

MY VW had a draw and it stumped both VW repair shops. I towed it to Knapeks on Jacobs Ave and Dennis removed the starter, identified the problem, replaced the brushes and the driver. It now starts better than when it was new, and I saved $200 on buying a new Bosche Starter. Great service and excellent workmanship. Because of backup in the other shop I would have had to wait 10 days for the work to start. Knapek's finished the job over the weekend. Thanks.

My 1972 VW Bug had a number of light problems with the flashers / reverse lights / emergency flashers, etc. Dennis got it all working at a reasonable price. Thanks!

I brought my 1968 Mercury Cougar's Alternator in for a complete rebuild. Dennis did a terrific job, car show quality. Dennis also checked out my entire electrical system and found out I had a faulty regulator and replaced it. Dennis has a great attitude and is easy to talk to and takes time to assist you in all your problems. Great business man and awesome automotive electrical mechanic. Chris Christensen Fortuna.

Knapek's has moved nextdoor to John's Used cars on Jacobs Avenue, Eureka. Google is aware, but won't make the update.

His Shop moved to 2916 Jacobs Ave Eureka,CA 95501. It's a great location - Yelp has his old address at the time of this review. I've been to Dennis twice with two different cars. Each time he was willing or volunteered to explain how he diagnosed the problem or what he had ruled out. He solved my electrical problems and it was an an amazing experience to hear him explain what was wrong and how he fixed it. He is organized, let's you know what your options are along the way, and you just know that your bill reflects efficient, conscientious work. Truly 5 stars.

Dennis was great. My European camper was having intermittent electrical problems with the ignition (probably a short). He spent an hour checking the battery (electrolytes, load test, load test for any shorts in the car), including the coach batteries (which where shot). Upshot was he couldn't solve the intermittent problems but the battery was at about 75% and he didn't charge me for the hour of work. In addition he showed me how to jump the car from my coach batteries (since I was going to buy new ones), and gave me a small jumper cable in case I needed to do that! I got a new starter battery nearby and though I did have a few problems the new battery got me home. If I have a problem in the area, I'll be back!

I had a great experience here. After getting huge estimates from other shops they said come in in the morning. Two hours later it was done. I did not get the this is so complicated routine I seem to get from the other shops. It's a short in a wire guys not brain surgery. Knapeks diagnosed the problem quickly and it was clear he wasn't looking to pad the hours. They were friendly and easy to talk to. I don't know what the bad reviews I read on this site are about. These guys are local guys and I know they are honest. I know when I'm getting the rap. If you have a problem your crazy not to go here and I've been to the others. It's the first time I've been to them. When I asked my mechanic who is a local guy and good (Ron's Auto on Myrtle), Knapeks was his first word. Don't usually write these but had too when I read the reviews. Gary Rooney

Called to set appointment, guy asked what I needed. All I needed was some wires fixed. 200 dollar job. Simple request but apparently my simple job isn't important and didn't matter to this guy. Told me that if I didn't already hear how the company is relocating. I said Okay!!! "Thinking" (like I care who's moving where, a job is a job)He proceeds to tell me how he's only interested in heavy loads and basically my request wasn't heavy enough. So I guess my lil ol 200 dollars was too petty. Seriously arrogant and I will NEVER recommend this piece of dog poo place to anyone. Who tf turns down a job but a jackarse. I'm sorry I didn't have a grand to throw in your face. Just needed some wires fixed at a auto electrical shop but sounds like I called the teetee bar instead lol. Next place I call for service I KNOW will take my measly 200 because that's what real businesses do. They take care of customers no matter what or how much the job is.
