When I tell you that Shannon and the crew are talented that would just be a drop in the bucket of how wonderful my experience was at The Feathered Nest! I was totally lost with how to execute my vision and how to make it come to life within my budget. Shannon looked at my inspiration and she guided me right through and made suggestions that made my space just beyond anything I could have dreamed. Her creativity and intuition are so special and I can rely on her to solve any design problems. Now let's talk about the store. It is so inspiring and beautiful. All of the pieces are special and such good quality. They made it easy to order and receive all of my pieces and they were able to order things for me that I could never have found on my own. They have the best events and the sale is EPIC. I can't wait to work on my next space with them because the joy I feel being surrounded by the beauty Shannon creates is priceless!!!!

I've been wanting to take a watercolor class. Just happened to stop into the Feathered Nest last week during a class. Came back today with a friend. What a fun and relaxing time! I think I'm going to be a regular.

The Feathered Nest is a great place to browse, find unique treasures, and learn to watercolor, charcoal, and acrylic paint. Linda Akers is a fantastic teacher as well as an accomplished artist. Her techniques are translatable to all levels of expertise and the experience is satisfying and meditative. New students are welcomed and encouraged by everyone in class. I highly recommend taking a class, and there are varied times to accommodate working people as well as retired ones. For the last year, students have also been treated to classes by artist in residence, Nathan Taylor. We are so lucky to have access to such an accomplished painter/artist.

Decided to check out this store on the day of the fair oaks chicken festival with my friends and I. My girl friend and I are in our middle 20's and our older guy friend is 32 but we all look a bit younger. The store was nicely decorated and we decided to come check it out since we had just been next door looking at the other shops and art gallery where we had a nice chat with the owner who works there. The three of us including me walked through and made our way to the back of the store and passed by an old man at his desk who greeted us and was fine. As we were back looking at the cute decorations, we ran into a older white lady who was there shopping and we were causally chatting with her and looking at things when we no noticed a group of younger sheriffs dressed in uniform coming up form behind us. There were about 7 or 8 of them in a group, most younger looking girls and guys and a couple older officers. The sheriffs tent was right out front of this store during the festival. I thought it was a bit odd that they came back to where we were and it looked like they were checking up on us and making sure we weren't doing anything we weren't supposed to like stealing. Mind you my friend and I are dark brown skinned Asians and our male guy friend who was with us that days is from Afghanistan but is every pale and could pass of as white. When the group of officers in uniform came back to where we are I thought we had done something wrong. They didn't have an angry look on their face and seemed pretty chill, but it still looked like they came to check up on us. I thought it was weird and mentioned it to my friends who were a bit unsure as well and as we walked out of the store, we saw the same groups of cops were still in the store hanging out in the room right beside us that we went into and as my friends and I walked out, the cops literally walked out right after us like they were waiting to leave once we walked out to the store. The group of young officers were waiting in the art gallery room which is right beside where we were and as I was walking out, I noticed an old white woman glaring at us from the counter of the art gallery room. I found out that that same old lady who was looking at us real unfriendly was the owner: Linda of the feathered nest. I feel really upset and disgusted that owner and the old man that was working with her that day racially profiled my friends and I that day because they thought we were going to steal something due the color of our skin. Let me say again, we had just visited the other shops right next door and no groups of cops of 7-8 officers came in and followed us into the store and walked out when we walked out. It was just this last store that we visited that treated my friends and I like were up to no trouble due to our appearance and the color of our skin. I guess we look like trouble makers even though we all have college educations and are hardworking middle class folks. I've dealt with racism and discrimination my whole life and this isn't the first time I've been racially profiled and followed around stores either by security or cops thinking I'm going to steal something and that I'm up to no good. I'm glad I wasn't alone this time when this happened as I would of definitely confronted the store owner right then and there in person. But because I was with my friends I didn't that day but wanted to ask the young officers about why they were in that store that day and tell them how it looked and came across. I did end up calling the store today and chatted to the owner Linda about what went down and how she and the older male employee treated my friends and I. Of course when you call a racist white person out for what they did, they are going to deny it just like Linda the old white lady did. Linda made excuses and said that of course that wasn't the reason and that the officers had come into the store to cool off. Funny cuz none of the officers came in and followed us in th

the painting classes or paint parties here are amazing. They are given by a very talented and patient teacher in a relaxed fun environment. My friends and I have done a girls night paint party and we have also done a couples paint party both were very fun and we went home with great paintings. No experience necessary.

It would be helpful to update your website and google's information about your hours. Both said you were open today (Sunday). I drove 40 minutes and you were closed. Thanks. The store looked very cute but not the best first experience!

What a beautiful display of older pieces of furniture and unusual pieces to decorate your home, old dishes, one of a kind items etc. Very interesting, don't go if you're rushed, there is too much to see and contemplate. It is just a delightful experience to wonder through this well displayed and interesting shop. The artwork is incredible, every medium, every size, and if you can't find it here, maybe you need to join a class and create your own.

OMG this place is SO cute! I loved it...spent like an hour in the shop looking at all the treasures! The attendant/cashier was so nice and a tad cooky, as expected for an antique shop. They are set up like many antique shops in that they are like a co-op. I found an item without a price on it and the attendant quickly called up the owner of the "shop" I pulled the item from and got a price for me. Great service and great finds abound. Check it out!

I have been coming to Fair Oaks quite often lately to take my foster pup to the vet. On this day she stayed home because I only needed to pick up her prescription and this gave me the opportunity to be able to see what the shopping district had to offer. In passing I've thought it looked like there were many nice shops and restaurants within a rather small area and I have been wanting to check it out. As expected there were many nice shops, but when I entered The Feathered Nest I was wowed. It's fun just to see all the unique, interesting and beautiful items, and this store is a wonderful place to shop. It would be hard not to find something for one's self or a gift item because they have some of everything. Wall to wall, floor to ceiling, this shop is a treasure trove of antiques and collectables of every sort and description. Furniture, paintings, photos, china, jewelry, figurines, clothing, hats, canes, books, records, and so much more. I came across some beautifully illustrated 1920s vintage children's books I couldn't resist. They were not very expensive, and when I asked if I could get a deal if I bought them all, I was given 10% off. My only regret is that it was an incomplete set. I will want to come here again when I have more time to explore because there is just so much to see in this shop.
