This venue truly is a hidden gem. It was the first venue we visited and after 10+ other ones, we still couldn’t get it out of our head. We got married in August, when the greenery was full, so it meant the space was naturally beautiful and didn’t need as much florals or decor. Our guests all kept commenting on what a cozy, intimate, gorgeous space it was. The redwood grove ceremony was just stunning. We had 80 people total and it was the perfect size. Shout out to Kathy! She is a saint for responding to all my emails over the course of a year. From the get go, she was friendly, had a list of recommendations, and was transparent about any venue restrictions or needed rentals.
The drawbacks:
End time—it has an 8pm music cut off time due to a local noise ordinance. We ended up starting earlier in the day and reserved space at a bar in Santa Cruz for an after party, so it was fine but a logistical challenge. It meant our guests coming from San Jose had to drive during peak beach traffic time (it took some 2 and a half hours…) and we wanted to safely shuttle everyone to the after party so that was an extra cost.
All outdoor space—we were so lucky our weather was 80 and sunny with a light breeze. It was perfect. But let me tell you, I was a mess for a year until I could finally see the forecast. The sun also beat down on some guests and the dance floor for about an hour during the reception, but again this was during August.
Bathrooms—we originally estimated 100 guests and unfortunately there’s only one real bathroom for guests so we needed to rent a trailer which was an additional $1200. It was okay as I wiggled the budget around a little, but ouch.
Would I have my wedding here again? Absolutely. Without a doubt. It was beautiful and unique. My recommendation is to be flexible with as much as you can and maybe book in fall when the sun is in a better position and you can add some lights for a cozy evening time.

The Felton Guild is such a charming and peaceful forest venue tucked away in the Redwoods, and I recently had the honor of photographing a wedding here; I absolutely fell in love with the setting! It feels secluded and intimate, with a cozy, woodsy atmosphere that’s perfect for couples looking for something a little different.
From a photographer’s perspective, the lighting in the grove is soft and dreamy, especially during the ceremony. The surrounding trees create a natural canopy that adds to the sense of privacy and connection, while the reception space is large enough to host a decently sized guest count. The staff were incredibly helpful as well!
If you’re dreaming of a redwood wedding that’s relaxed, heartfelt, and full of character, this is a venue worth checking out!

You can't go wrong cruising the menu.... The El Hombre burger never disappoints me, as well considering the Jim Frey 18 oz is so amazing

We had the most beautiful wedding ceremony and reception at Felton Guild this past Saturday. It was an absolute blast! The venue is gorgeous and the perfect size (we had a little under 70 guests). Kathy was extremely helpful and responsive throughout all the planning and had fantastic vendor recommendations. We hired everyone she suggested and it went so smoothly. I highly recommend Felton Guild!

My wife and I had a fantastic time at our close friends' wedding but the venue never really made us feel welcome. More that anything else the venue made us feel like it was a nuisance to them to host us. From scolding us for parking our car (we walked to the venue), to the food service (not all that nice), and a lack of clear communication I feel like things could have been done better on their part.

Very nice experience. Lots of big trees, and one of the trees has a big hole in it so you can walk through the tree which is really cool to look at!

Incredible location with an amazing caretaker. I would recommend this venue to anybody looking for a wedding venue.

The venue and backdrop of the redwoods were stunning. However the unnecessary stress imposed by Kathy the day of the wedding left a lot to be desired. Changed the entire layout at the 11th hour, making up it was due to liscencing and compliance. The entire morning she made it a point to make it her wedding versus the bride and groom, from how the speakers were facing, to DJ, to sweetheart table, cocktail hour table her friend the bartender who offered two minors alcohol twice stating (it's ok it's a special occasion) I was not happy to find this out after the fact. The venue was paid through 9 pm yet again she came and demanded the music be turned off at 8PM. She proceeded to cause a scene even the tenant she was trying to vent to stated let them have fun. Her need to control every aspect was like nothing we or the vendors have seen. She kept stating how she has people paying more for the venue so now, clearly she's doing something right. Overall beyond unprofessional. We re-read the contract and nothing that she was stating aligned with the contract at any point. The place is gorgeous we made the best of it but I would never recommend it due to the micro-management and behavior displayed.

My daughter was married here and I'll preface this by stating the venue and redwoods backdrop was stunning. However the micro-managing that was done by Kathy the day of was less than desirable. From continuing to change the entire layout the day of the wedding continuing to state, "well normally people do xyz" then when it didn't align with this brides layout then she begins to state its for compliance and liscencing down to the direction the speakers need to face, to stating she will monitor the volume, placement etc. She was a complete nightmare. The audacity to call the bride as she is getting ready was disgraceful to argue people nowadays are paying her even more for the venue and arguing contract, when asked to not call my daughter and stress her out she continued to walk around the venue with her phone on speaker trying displaying her need to be right for 40mins. My daughter remained poised as we reviewed the contract over and over to see she was making items up as she went as nothing she kept going on about aligned with the contract. Beautiful venue specifically chosen for the redwood backdrop but I would not recommend it with the way it started and ended. Please note although you pay for the venue until 9 pm she makes a scene to shut you down at 8PM approaching the DJ and demanding he turn it off then proceeded to argue with bride about it on the dance floor.
