DO NOT RENT TRUCK FROM BUDGET -- THEY BRAKE DOWN AND ARE UNSAFE Rented a budget 16-foot truck. Check engine light was on when I picked it up. Representative said the catalytic converter was recently changed and the check engine light was on but the truck was fine. I loaded the truck proceeded by my first destination, unloaded, and stared on my way to 2nd destination when all dashboard lights came on (oil, battery, etc.), engine cut out and there was no use of steering brakes etc. Turned truck off, turned back on, proceeded to drive and happened again about 1/2 mile down the road. I pulled over, called roadside assistance via budget, waiting three hours for a mechanic who determined that the issue was due to an off market catalytic converter that was installed. He also said the loud noise was a leaking exhaust despite the fact the truck said "quiet cab" on the door. It was 7pm and we were far from home so we found a place to stay and called at 8am next morning. The tow truck did not show up until 1pm, then towed the truck with belongings to our second destination. We unloaded the truck and budget said to call roadside assistance for the second tow, waited two hours and tow company called to say they didnt want to tow because it was raining, and he would pick it up in the morning. So I had my husband pick us up and drive us home. Over 32 hours delay and budget will not fully reimburse for the hassle. What a mess and loss time at work. All because they cheaped out with an off market catalytic converter.

DO NOT RENT A BUDGET TRUCK, EVER!!!!I rented the truck on Friday 06/09/23 1PM for return on Monday, 6/12/23 1PM . The staff at Dealer #601315 (Elmhurst, IL) were great, professional, kind and patient. Even though the truck was beat up (dings, dents) and dirty we inquired and were told it was the 'best' truck they had available. For a Chicago, IL to Huntsville AL (8 hour drive) relocation the truck broke down half way in Elizabethtown, Kentucky at 10:00AM CST. It took a total of five (5) hours of waiting on the side of the interstate for roadside assistance to advise they could not repair (wrench light and Check Engine Light issues) and for the truck to be towed local. Budget insisted we stay at a local hotel until they located a replacement within a 200 mile radius. In hopes they'd find a replacement soon. We did not stay, movers scheduled at our destination would still charge for the POD unload regardless if they provided the service or not. A replacement vehicle was delivered to the home in Huntsville on Sunday 6/11/23 at 7PM, driver did not give us any documentation. This truck had accident vehicle damage in several places, both rear-view mirrors did not lock in place and the charges did not work. On 6/13/23 at 1PM is when the truck was dropped of at the contracted destination in Murfreeboro TN. As of 6/14/23 @12:30PM CST the contract is still open in the system, flagged for being late return since it was originally due on Monday 6/12. I was told today by Customer service we'd be charged an extra day rental for the late return which MAY be reinbursed. As of 6/14/23 @12:30PM CST I was told it may take 24-72 hours to close the contract, which legally leaves me liable for a vehicle that is no longer in my physical possession. *** DO NOT USE *** THEY RENT BROKEN, UNSAFE TRUCKS. Rented a cargo van in Phoenix AZ, in Flagstaff AZ had to have two front tires changed ( Unsafe ), then on Oklahoma City called roadside asst and found out the ball joint was bad and the van was extremely unsafe. There were zero vans in OK city to swap out. We needed to get a Penske truck to complete the move. Roadside service was not helpful either was Customer service despite dozens of call for help from us to them.

They gave us a broken truck! We rented a van from budget, and when we showed up, there was no van. They gave us a 26 foot truck instead. We took the truck, loaded it up, got on the highway, and the red engine light went on and said it was shutting down. So we pulled over and had to sit in the side of the highway for hours waiting for roadside assistance. When they showed up the guy said the diesel engine hasn't been cleaned out or had any maintenance, so the engine clogged and shut down. We spent another few hours while the engine was cleaned. Worst experience!!! Would have given zero stars if the roadside assistance guy wasn't so nice.

They work very unprofessionally. I made changes to a previous reservation. But instead they did not cancel the previous one and charged me $75 'no show fee' under the initial one despite their assurances that the previous reservation was cancelled. Shame on Budget Truck Rental!

I thought about starting this review by say my son a decorated Army War Veteran who was shot five times in Iraq has been stranded in Columbia MO since Friday trying to get home to join his family. He has had little to know communications with Budget, I know because I was with him all weekend helping with the move. I left yesterday at his recommendation with his personal truck to continue on to Pa, he remained back to try to get assistance.But even though my son is an Army Veteran and was attached to Delta Force it should not matter. No one should be treated the way we have been treated. At one point the CSR for Budget said well it is Easter weekend and it will be hard to find help. Well for me a company who makes a living moving people like ourselves on weekends is not very well prepared. We would like to spend Easter with our families as well. I would never recommend Budget their customer service is terrible and has little to no info available to advise when the repair or new truck will be arrive.This was a crazy weekend and he is still in Columbia waiting for assistance. I was in town for a family emergency, going through a lot emotionally. One of the many things I had to take care of was moving a ton of stuff back home to Fresno. From the moment I booked the rental from the agent at the location, I had nothing but a GREAT experience. The rep was so kind, and sympathetic to the reason I had to make this travel. When I arrived he greeted me with a smile and helped me with my rental quick and easy. His words were so helpful during this hard time. If that was not enough, the Van drove like a champ, and was great on gas. I forgot I was in a huge vehicle, it drove that smooth, and fit a huge amount of stuff in it. Thank you for being you!

We had used Budget in 2018 for a local move and they were great - lowest price and no issues. We rented a 26' truck for a local move in 2022 and they cancelled our reservation 2 DAYS before our move! Because another customer wanted to keep their 26' truck for longer. So they cancelled our reservation in preference for the other customer even though our reservation was made weeks ago.We scrambled and ended up getting a 26' U-Haul. They were only $300 (needed the truck for a couple days) and Budget was going to charge us nearly $1000 for the same rental!Worst company ever, DO NOT USE BUDGET!

I returned my cargo van to this location on Sunday around 9:45AM. It was a quick and easy drop off. The location seems to be where a ton of offices are, as it was very quiet and did not have many cars around. The guy working was outside taking a smoke break, so he was able to help me fairly quickly. I handed him the keys, he did a quick inspection and he gave me my receipt. I do recommend you call prior to ensure it is open as the other budget I went to suggested since hours vary by store and not all would accept late drop offs. Upon looking at the other cargo vans in the lot, it seemed like their cargo vans were in better shape than what I had gotten. A tad disappointed in the condition of the cargo van I received from a different location, but there was nothing this budge truck rental could have done for me in that case.Overall, pretty good experience at this location.

Good experience renting a truck at Budget in Foster City. Way better than U-haul who evidently overbook their vehicles and cancel on customers with no notice. At Budget you can rent the truck for multiple days also, unlike the other. The staff were friendly and showed me how the truck worked, the lift gate, where to put the DEF, etc. They were also flexible when I returned it early.

Budget rental is the worst experience of my life and I have used moving trucks every year for a decade. I booked a moving truck 6 weeks in advance because it's moving season. And I got a notice to get ready for my move(1:18pm) just to have them email me again(1:40pm) to tell me my reservation was cancelled. This is less than 2 days from my pick up time! Every rental place was booked for the whole weekend even 2 hours from where I live. I planned ahead for a reason BUT THET CANCELLED ON ME LAST MINUTE WITH NO ALTERNATIVE SOLUTIONS!!!!!!!!! I am stuck with 2 apartments with a hard deadline and new apartment that won't let us move in early.

I have been sitting at a rest Stop for 3 days. I'm still waiting on a replacement "trailer". The entire wheel came off as I was driving 60 mph in traffic. The wheel bounced and hit another car but they manage the situation as I managed my situation with my vehicle. I pulled off into a rest stop and noticed the entire wheel was gone including the screws that would be coming out of the brakes. Each day I call 5 to 6 times during the day for roadside assistance. And all they continue to tell me is that they are trying to get somebody to locate a trailer. Budget truck rental will not call Penske, U-Haul to get another trailer. So I have to sit here and wait. The most excruciating thing is that no one contacts you. They don't say how they're working on it what they're trying to do. What's taking so long. Nothing!!!! I'm abandoned!

I reserved a car through Budget at this location for a Saturday pickup at 8am. If you take anything away from this review, it is do NOT support this business. They are not worth your time nor money.Where do I even begin. I called into this location the Tuesday before specifically asking not to get a minivan or anything not fuel efficient, and ensured they made a note for me. Came in Saturday around 7:55am and there was already a line forming for car rentals. The guy handling moving trucks was there on time. The guy helping everyone else for cars was late. No apologies for keeping customers waiting. And guess what? Whoop-de-[expletive]-do I get a minivan, despite me calling in several days before. There are 7 Nissan Sentras outside, which he claimed are for Ubers. He claims because this was a "one way rental" only minivans can be issues (was driving from Foster City to Socal). He claimed this was an "upgrade", which is also horse[expletive]. It's an upgrade if you have the option to accept/decline. It's not an upgrade when you're told you have no other choice.I would rather buy a horse and carriage and make my trip than support this business location again. I've used Budget for years out of several locations, and I have never had as bad as an experience I've had here. Pay the extra $50-100 it is to rent from another location/business. This place is absolute garbage, and 1 star is a generous rating.

Terrible experience! The truck I had reserved was not there at the time I was promised. The guy working there was a very snarky and sarcastic with me the whole time. After settling for the cargo van, he went ring me up and said my card wouldn't swipe. I told him it has a chip. He then said " I can only swipe" I asked him if he could out the numbers in manually and he said I can only swipe.I said why cant you put the numbers in manually or use the chip and he started getting passive aggressive suggestions that I could be doing fraud. Saying in loud enough to where the other customers heard him clearly. It was embarrassing. And I will never do buisness within these guys again.Nm. An employee should have more sense then accusing customers of fraud because their card reader wasnt reading my card.
