Love this Safeway but they close well before 2 am unfortunately :( sucks for a night shift worker when you Uber somewhere and their posted hours are wrong

Where to start? If I was a family on a budget, I wouldn't come to this Safeway. Almost everything here is 30-40% higher in price than competitors like Trader Joe's. That being said, there are reasons to visit Safeway. Their Boar's Head Artisan sandwich shop makes amazing sandwiches. I like their sandwiches more than many independent and chain sandwich stores in the area. I also think the bakery does a solid job and makes quality cakes and other baked goods at a fair price. If I didn't feel I was being price gouged by the rest of the store, my review might be more favorable to Safeway overall.

The 2 crabs that I purchased were the worst ever. The crabs had a strong fishy smell, simply revolting. I think they should have tossed it out, instead of selling it to a customer. I do not recommend buying crabs at this Safeway.

I've been here a few times and every time the place looks very ran down and dirty. Also customer service here sucks. They are all very rude and seem to hate their jobs. They leave expired food on the shelves to sell. I bought a ranch mix and didn't check the date. I noticed it was six month's expired when I got home. That's horrible, won't shop here anymore.

I love the Front End Manager Justin. He is so helpful and so polite. He goes out of his way to help anyone. Fast checkouts and customer service was the best I've ever seen before.

I came in to get ice cream that was advertised in their weekly advertisement but they were oversold. I asked the cashier Rosa, for a rain check. She replied Customer Service. But they were closed. I have always been able to get a rain check from cashiers at other Safeway locations.

It is June 20th today and I just got home from buying a frozen pizza and It's moldy. They sold me expired food, this went bad June 17th!! Never shopped at a grocer that was this irresponsible, I guess if you're shopping here you need to look at expiration dates because they will sell you expired moldy food and then not let you return it. Wish I could give less then 1 star for this disappointing hell hole.

I went there for battery purchase today, and there is a sign with a button to ask someone to unlock the section. I pressed the button and wait for 5 minutes, no one helped, so I went to customer service to ask a lady to help, she told me to wait , I waited for 10 minutes and when she finished sth she's gone. I was like maybe she went to bathroom so I waited for another 10 minutes and she never came back , I look for the whole store and hardly found someone to help , so I asked the gentleman who's at self checking section to help me , he helped me right away and it only took him less than 3 minutes. Thanks to him so that I don't have to wait for another 30 minutes . Please remove the sign if it doesn't work, it confuses everyone .

The location of this Safeway is beautiful, right across from laguna that is a very pleasant place to stroll around on a sunny day. The store itself has very poor service and staff that doesn't know what they're doing or saying. I tried to find a couple of items and staff was clueless where they are and kind of rude. People working at the registers don't know what 'Thank you' and 'Have a nice day' is.

There was a customer standing near the self-checkout line who was just standing there even though there was an empty self-checkout station right in front of him. I paused to see if he was going forward, but he seemed to be zoned out. So just as I was getting ready to use that check out station, he approached me and said, "Excuse me, I was in line." I moved back in line so that he could use that station, and the self-checkout attendant pointed out another self-checkout station I could use, so I went ahead and used that one. But this was overall an unpleasant experience at this Safeway partly because that customer was idling and made it seem like he was not in line and partly because Safeway did not point out the available self-checkout to that zoned-out customer, which would have prevented this altercation to begin with altogether.

I don't like that when I'm prompted to take the survey at the register, the cashier stops me, tells me she has to do it because it's a competition between stores! She then takes it away from me and completes it herself!!Total cheating, totally inappropriate! Because of this I give one star.

This is one of the nicest Safeway's I've seen. The staff is super friendly, underground parking with elevators, and a great selection of specialty items. They have an impressive wine and cheese selection, and the best sushi I have had at a Safeway. Ask for a custom roll of your choice, the sushi chef Wen is restaurant caliber talent, and very friendly. Nice outdoor patio for lunching, Starbucks, Redbox, no bank. Great liquor department with items you can't find in other stores, lots of high quality (expensive) bottles in glass cases. Very clean from the parking lot to the bathrooms.

Great customer service at the checkout counter for years... I wouldn't recommend the sushi, though.
