During a recent visit to my parents' area, I decided to swing by Trader Joe's to pick up some ingredients for dinner. As I approached the checkout counter, I couldn't help but notice the cashier's demeanor. While she engaged in friendly conversation with everyone ahead of me, her attitude abruptly shifted when it was my turn. Was it my race? Being one of the few Hispanics in the area, I couldn't shake off the feeling that perhaps my presence made her uncomfortable. As I greeted her, I was met with a cold glance, and the atmosphere became tense. Thankfully, I only had five items to purchase, but the experience left me feeling uneasy.

This Trader Joe's is a really good option. There's a lot of parking, and I appreciate that there are four disabled spots, as opposed to many other ones where there are just two or even only one. This Trader Joe's itself is one of the pretty small ones. This means that if you go during a busy time, it is frustrating and basically impossible to navigate the store, and once you're in line, you're blocking pretty much every person from getting down an aisle. This particular Trader Joe's also carries more Asian products then pretty much any other Trader Joe's, that I've been to in the bay. I asked an employee about it, and he said that this Trader Joe's actually carries every single Asian product, due to the high Asian population in Fremont. Things are out of stock a lot at this Trader Joe's. They don't carry all of the gluten-free items, and it's hard to find things multiple trips in a row, because they'll be out of stock in certain things for weeks or even months at a time which can be pretty annoying. One thing that I really don't like about this Trader Joe's is how much they shove Christianity down your throat. Other Trader Joe's I've been to will of course offer holiday items and stuff like that, but this Trader Joe's decks out the entire store on Christmas, on Easter, and similar. They do not do the same for any other religious holidays. It makes me very uncomfortable.

Love going here! The employees are so friendly and are helpful if needed. Love how there are so many different brands and items that you don't see in other chain grocery stores. Appreciate that!

A great location for Trader Joe's in Fremont! Lots of parking, but they do get busy. Great and friendly staff here. The store is clean, well stocked and organized. I love trying their personal care products -- my favourite is their citrus body wash. I am always impressed by their new food items -- fun flavours to try, especially the snacks. As a lactose-intolerant human, I'm grateful for their range of chocolate products made from non-cow dairy! So I can enjoy chocolate and other "dairy" items without the pain!

I love shopping at TJ's! I cruise every aisle every visit to see what is new and unique. Now, it's not a "full-service" grocery store, You won't find 12 brands of Mayonnaise but you will find a standard and a couple of unique flavors of TJ branded mayo plus half a dozen other interesting spreads. Some things are a bit more costly, but many items are cheaper (like some coffee beans, dry cereals, eggs, and more). What TJs excels at are prepared meals, both fresh and frozen, ready to warm and eat. These are conveniently packaged for one or two people, allowing for quick meals that are diverse in flavors/styles/origins. Greek, Asian, South American, European cuisines are all represented. Finally, I go for several 'staples' that I don't find anywhere else: low-sodium English muffins, all sorts of nuts (especially toasted almonds without added salt), and dried fruit. I enjoy their inexpensive version of Cheerios (also much lower in salt than the original) and natural avocado and coconut oils. I always find a sweet treat among their cookies and candy from around the world. The only challenge I have with this particular (Oak Park IL) store is that parking is sometimes a challenge in the smallish lot. I try to avoid high traffic times (like right after work, Saturdays, etc.). There is a paid city lot, however, that is also right there, so you don't miss a weekly visit!
