Purchased Used Minivan — Major Failure After 8 Months, $7,600 Repair Needed.
I purchased a 2019 Honda Odyssey from Auto Republic, and only 8 months later the car suddenly slipped itself into neutral while I was driving on a freeway ramp with my family inside. We were nearly hit by a semi truck.
After getting safely off the ramp, I contacted Auto Republic to see if they could help. I was told the vehicle wasn’t under warranty. When I asked why no warranty was offered at purchase, they told me it was “probably because we financed through Schools First.”
Jimmy in the service department was polite and did try to help by offering a discounted labor rate and calling around for prices. However, repairs with them are ultimately too risky to do through the dealership, and we have to take the car elsewhere.
The total cost to make the vehicle safe and drivable again is $7,600 or more —less than a year after purchase.
Sharing this so future buyers know what to expect and can make an informed decision.

Chris was amazing! He helped me get a great price on my car and made the whole process super easy. What really stood out was how he went out of his way to take care of me—he personally made sure the car got buffed and had the scratches removed so it looked perfect when I picked it up. Excellent customer service from start to finish. Highly recommend asking for Chris!

This was my very first car purchase, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Chris went above and beyond to help me through the entire process. He was patient, honest, and made everything feel so easy—especially for a first-time buyer like me.
Not only did he help me find the perfect car, but he also made sure it looked brand new. The car was spotless and shining! You can tell he really cares about his customers and takes pride in his work.
I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. If you’re looking to buy a car, especially your first one, I definitely recommend going to Chris!

I bought a work van from these guys out of their Orange dealership. We searched for several hours they had a great selection to choose from. I got the price I wanted and in great shape. I initially didn’t want the LoJack and paint protection on a work van is useless but I’m glad I got the security afterwards. A year and 13K miles later I can happily say thanks Auto Republic you guys are awesome 👍

Chris is by far the best car salesperson I have ever met. It was an absolute pleasure to do business with him. He was knowledgeable, professional, and honest. Who avoids high-pressure tactics and communicates very clearly. He focused on understanding our needs, answering questions, and making the buying process smooth and stress-free, often going the extra mile time and time again. Will definitely recommend to family so I will recommend to you as well.

Salesperson Rigo is unprofessional, Auto Republic is known for selling defective vehicles. Be wise when looking for a car.

I went to this place to check out 2013 Toyota Corolla Le with 116k miles and the listed price was $8991. But out the door price they said was $12,650. Be safe there are unnecessary dealer markup in this place. And when you try to negotiate price then they would say $…. Would you make a deal right now? Thats not the way and it’s doesn’t sound good giving pressure. For me car was decent and wanted to make a deal but the markup lead it too far. Before you go ask them about their markups….

Chris was easy to talk to and very efficient. I had a trade in and was a little stressed about the whole process but left happy with a fair trade in price and a beautiful truck for my daughter. Thanks Chris!!

Salesman Chris was unhelpful, offered no options, and communicated poorly, perfectly embodying why I dislike car shopping.

One of the most unethical car-buying experiences of my life. I came pre-approved with Capital One and told Chris in advance. Instead, my credit was run multiple times without consent (a violation of the FCRA) and I was steered into Ally Bank by Claudio, who even admitted he never submitted my Capital One application. Classic bait-and-switch financing.
I waited 2+ hours past my appointment, test drove a car filled with adhesive fumes from a hidden dashboard repair, and saw the leather already lifting. Chris falsely claimed my Capital One approval would “expire that day,” which Capital One confirmed was a lie (fraudulent misrepresentation). The contract I signed had a higher interest rate than promised (fraudulent inducement & breach of contract).
Then came a demand letter 11 days later ordering me to return the car—Chris called it an “error,” but I later discovered my credit was being resubmitted repeatedly without permission (potential identity theft).
Finally, I requested my warranty cancellation back in May, but the dealership delayed it until August 1st, when the warranty company confirmed receipt—one day after I sent another status email on July 31st. That delay shows deliberate bad faith.
This dealership’s actions may violate the FCRA, FTC Act (deceptive practices), state UDAP laws, and UCC warranty protections. Chris and Claudio’s conduct was not only dishonest—it was predatory.
⚠️ If you value your credit, money, and peace of mind—avoid this dealership at all costs.
