Nice employees...easy pick up and return...will use this location if the need arises again. And fyi it is under new management so the post that are 3 months and beyond was old management...give them a try!!!

Pre-paid for a vehicle on their website and came at noon which was our scheduled time. Upon arrival nobody acknowledged us, which was fine at first but then I realized it was just the beginning. We give them our information and tell them that we prepaid. They told us it would cost us more to get the vehicle because the car is electric. We said we just wanted the car we selected and paid for. He said it would cost more because they only have the hybrid. We went back n forth just requesting to get the car we already paid for as we were on limited funds. They refused to give us a car and said if we don’t want to pay extra then we have to wait 45 minutes for them to get an oil change done on a car within our budget. How does that make any sense? We asked for our card and information back and had to walk away.
Recap: rude, tried to upsell and when we refused they refused to give us the car we paid for unless we waited 45 minutes. Terrible management. Had to wall out.

We had a rough time getting a car anywhere but Freddy and Leo did a great job getting us a car and making sure we got on the road soon as possible. Be aware that this is mainly an insurance-fulfillment location so if you need a rental car for fun, you may not get one. But in a pinch they can come through!

Had the absolute worst experience here. Renter beware!!!!!!!!!!!!
They rented us a car that was basically a lemon and should have been in the shop for servicing. For starters, it was dirty and the floor carpet was coming up. On day one, it ran sluggish. The second day we stopped at a store and when we returned to the car it wouldn’t start. After about 30 minutes it finally started again. The next day, the same thing happened only this time it wouldn’t start at all. After trying for about 45 minutes, We called a towing company who came pretty quickly and told us the battery was completely dead. We took the car straight to the nearest airport to exchange for another car…we were afraid to shut it off again so we didn’t refuel. When we returned the new car the next day to the initial rental place and told them about our troubles weren’t compensated at all and were actually told ‘break downs’ happen all the time here. Really??? So they basically admitted to poor maintenance of their cars. Leo offered nothing but excuses for our troubles and actually added charges for gas - we didn’t have time to refuel the first car and were also too nervous to turning it off. Basically we paid double for our trouble and Leo was very dismissive. Poor poor poor customer service!!! I will never rent from them and advise anyone thinking about it to think again!!

They are a scam and they know. The worst car rental experience I’ve ever had. Look and the cheap response they gave to this comment.
I made my reservation more than 20 days in advance and paid in full. I was supposed to pick up an SUV at this location and return it at CBX in San Diego. When I arrived, not only was the service incredibly slow, but they also told me I couldn’t return the car at CBX — even though that was clearly stated in my reservation. They claimed their system wouldn’t allow it, that they themselves had entered the return location incorrectly, and that even though it’s “Hertz,” they don’t actually work with Hertz? That makes no sense, especially when the CBX return was one of the official options during booking.
After almost two hours of waiting, they refused to fix the issue. Instead, they changed my return location to another Hertz branch 30 minutes away and told me I’d have to return the car 8 hours earlier than my original time because that office would be closed later. How is it fair that I paid for a full rental and they get to change the schedule at their convenience?
Worse yet, they made me go to a location one hour away from my original booking site — all due to their own error. In total, this mess cost me five times the original rental price!
When I arrived at my final destination, I went to the CBX office to double-check, and they confirmed that my original reservation SHOULD have worked perfectly — there was no reason I couldn’t return the car at CBX. They lied to me. I was scammed, and there’s no way to reach their customer service.
Luckily, I’m a travel agent, and I will make sure to warn my clients to never rent from such a dishonest and unprofessional company. Completely untrustworthy.

There was no one at the counter either when we picked up the car or when we dropped it off. They had to clean the car before they let us use it. Even though there was a policy to allow pets in the car, the owner made us drive to a car wash and spend $40 to clean the car and said they would have charged us $200 otherwise.

If I could leave zero stars, if I could leave negative stars, I would. Waited over an hour and a half just to get a car that we had pre-booked online. An absolute joke of an establishment where no one seems to know how to do their job at all. To be clear, it was over an hour and a half with only two people ahead of us. I’m not sure what they were doing, but working certainly wasn’t it.

I tried to book a car here whilst travelling from overseas. What a joke. It cost me a return uber trip because upon arrival there were 3 people in line, waiting to be served. They had been waiting over an hour. We were not even acknowledged let alone served in the hour we wasted waiting. The one guy serving customers had no sense of urgency despite the place filling up with people queued to pick up or drop off a vehicle!

Waited over 2 hours for our car even though it was reserved days and days ahead of when we picked it up. They have terrible time management and are unprepared and understaffed. I would NOT recommend using this location to rent a car, especially if you expect to rent the car in a timely manner.

Extremely Disappointed with This Location
I’m extremely disappointed with the service at this Hertz on Harbor Blvd. I had a reservation well in advance to avoid delays, but still had to wait over 1.75 hours to get my car. The staff was unhelpful and incredibly slow. Even after completing payment, I waited more than 30 minutes and still didn’t receive the vehicle.
I’m writing this review while still at the location—I’ve now missed a graduation ceremony that I booked this rental for. This is unacceptable and highly unprofessional.
What makes it worse is that this is the second time in a row this has happened to me at this location, despite being a regular Hertz customer.
If you have a time-sensitive event or a flight to catch, I strongly recommend choosing a different location. I won’t be returning to this branch again.
