I wouldn't go there just to see the log house. But if you are driving in the area, it is a cool 5-minute break. The coffee shop is permanently closed, and you can get the passcode from the dispensery.

Went into the cafe and tried to place an order. The things I asked for, the girl kept saying "We're out of that" so I eventually settled on a bottle of water and asked for a cup (so my toddler could drink some).. They gave me a cup of tap water.. She charged me .75 for the cup AND 1.50 for a bottle a water but thought the cup of tap water was equal to a bottle + a cup.. She did not understand that she needed to also give me a bottle of water. She would not give me the bottle ?♀️ It was pretty frustrating. I rarely ever write reviews but c'mon?! Over $2+ for a cup of tap water...? Ridiculous.

We visited the One Log House on a weekday in June 2023. We wanted to have lunch first. But the gift shop employee told us they were out of deli meat for sandwiches because they had been busy. So no lunch for us. But if you were able to order a sandwich, you could sit at a table out front and eat it. But they must first acquire deli meat before customers can actually order a sandwich. For now, the customers must go elsewhere for lunch. We looked around the gift shop quickly while the guy in the corner was trying to get us to go into the pot store. I find it interesting that I didn't realize gift shop and dispensary really meant gift shop with pot store. For some reason it goes over my head when you put them together. My bad.We paid admission to the the One Log House which was $2. So it wasn't overly expensive. They have a code printed on your receipt which opens the door to the little log house. We spent all of 5 minutes checking out the house. Yes it was kind of interesting. It did take some craftsmanship to build this little abode. But it was obvious that this wasn't for real and no one has ever lived in the log house. Not that it wasn't expected for the roadside attraction. But it still was kind of fun. They have restrooms in the gift shop as well. But they make it clear that they are only for customers. They have a sign telling you that. Besides you also need a code to access the restrooms. The One Log House also is right next door to the Grandfather Tree Gift Shop. That is free to enter. So you can ask back and forth between them and basically get two roadside attractions in one stop. All in all, it's not a bad place to stop. It's just not all that great either. But for $2, it's worth a stop just for something to do.

You get the code for the log house inside the gift shop. I went to check it out. Very cool tiny house inside a hollowed out Redwood log. Very interesting to see in person. This is next to the Grandfather Tree. So, it's a 2 for 1 scenic stop.

Kind of disappointing. The Cafe and gift shop were closed the day we visited. The dispensary was open, but the clientele looked a little sus, and since we had our toddler with us, we decided against entering and purchasing tickets to see inside the one log house. There is a large picnic area behind the cafe and a small rock garden with sculptures/carvings out front that said toddler enjoyed. It is pretty amazing just how large some of these trees become. This one log house is a cool little stop, if for no other reason than to tout the benefits of a high fiber diet.

Go into the dispensary and pay $2 to get the key code for the one log house. I think seeing it and getting to see the historic pictures is worth it. We were there 12/22 and the cafe and restrooms were closed

A good place to stop after partially driving north or south on 101. The gift shop has some cool wood carvings, and of course the Grandfather tree. Make sure to check out the backside of the tree. It is amazing to think the tree first grew around 400 AD!

I went into what I thought was the gift shop, it was next to log home, but it was actually a dispensary. I would never drive Hwy 101 again unless I had to. I wish I could of seen inside of log home, but have no idea where the code was, and I wasn't the only one.... another couple asked if I figured out how to get inside? But did see Grand father tree a little ways away. This place seemed like we were trespassing.

We stopped here to see the One-Log House, not to visit the cafe or dispensary. Buy tickets ($2 per person) at the snack bar counter. Your ticket will have a code to enter the house. It's unstaffed, so you can take all the time you want. Note that this was built as an exhibit; I don't think anyone ever actually lived here. But we still found it really interesting and a worthwhile stop, partly because it's a mid-20th century time capsule.

If you need a place to stop and stretch your legs this WAS the spot. $2 to get the code to the door it was previously Family owned and operated... now you can tell the dispensary has taken it over. Kinda sad, but happy it's still open. Bathrooms are scary dirty now, no soft serve ice cream, and the only friendly face was a security guard.

The food and service were as we have come to expect. Professional and courteous throughout. The food was very good and the tea hit the spot. The only fly in the ointment was trying to charge us for WiFi.I don't understand it, and I never will.
