Most beautiful part of our drive. Absolutely gorgeous among the big canopy of huge trees and thick green moss and ferns everywhere. So fresh and clean.

Awesome redwoods to see on many a variety of hikes - flat and easy or up and down with lots of elevation gain along Durfy Creek. A redwood tree I salute thee preserved among the worlds oldest and tallest immortal to fire, wind, rain and lighting or to the axe of a foolish man redwood tree will you ever be a chimney, goose pen or a grandfather a house for hobbits play another tourist attraction the Big Foot gift shop or shall we drive our truck through you a piece of art, a clock, a chair or a camp fire on a camp cook out night a home for a family or a squirrel I will remember your awesome presence when I walked - all around and above me!

Worth every penny of the day use fee, would have been great to see the lodge open but we enjoyed a walk through the trees and a picnic. If you pass by stop in and spend some time with these magnificent trees, you will feel renewed for your onward journey.

We have been going to this site for over 30 years. I have been going every summer since I was a child. I have continued that tradition with my family during our winter or fall breaks and have lived all the memories we have made over the years. The interpretive trail and wood side trails are both very family friendly at a max of about 1 mile for the wood side trail. My roof let has down the interpretive trail every year and now as a big kid loves reading all of the signage and asking questions. The visitor center is great. They have plenty of exhibits and items for children to touch and feel. It's a great location if you want a few minutes in a n awesome rustic cabin with e fire roaring and sit down to have a coffee. Every interpreter or camp host we have run into over the years have been so knowledgeable and friendly. The rangers are also very helpful. We usually camp but this year choose a awesome little cabin due to the potential freeze warning. It came with two rooms and a counter space with space for 3 comfortably. It had a small wall mounted heater and a great deck to look out over the trees.

Ranger Jasmin was the best, she greeted us with a bubbly attitude. We really enjoyed our experience the entire time we were there. A tree feel closer to the ranger station and they had to use a chain saw and she made sure to apologize for the noise but we did not mind. Our family usually books in oak flats but I like this new area. Our camp site was the best location. I have not been camping in over 1years and I will be returning next year. The restrooms and shower area were cleaner then what I expected. Plus they do not have those creepy black toliet seats nor those stainless steel toliets... my worse fear for some odd reason lol. They in fact had great pressure and were white toilets yay! I can't wait to return. Thank you Jasmin once again for the great experience and my dog enjoyed the treats as well.

This review is for the campground -For minimum $35 / night there are no amenities. No electricity, water spiggots that are hand operated, and pay per use coin "token" showers. Only one loop of one campground was open in September. If there aren't enough campers, then why was the camp host so rushed and rude? As mentioned in other reviews, the sites are very close together, and this could be easily fixed by allowing campers to self select distance in other camping loops. There is constant sound of road noise, and while it is not a big city interstate, it is auditory trash amongst the beauty of the nature. At a campground meant for sleeping in vehicles or on the ground, why is not a single site level? I have been to hundreds of campgrounds and while the area and redwoods are beautiful, stay anywhere other than this expensive relic of the 1900s.

This area is quite beautiful. We stayed in the campground and that's what my review is directed to. The sites are nice but many are way too close together. We had a couple set up a tent about 10-12 feet from our trailer. Not their fault but just saying some sites are close. Also if you can avoid the tent sections do that. Sound carries terribly well and we had a family talking at full volume well past 11pm. They dropped a few f bombs and it was quite annoying. The other thing I don't like about this park is you have to pay for the showers. The camping fees are high and showers should be included. Also my wife got grumpy because none of the power outlets would power her hair drier... Go figure. If we were forced to stay here again I would stay far away from the tent sites because of the noise issue.
