I'm honestly not sure why there are so many bad reviews here, so I am going to add a good one. I started an account about 25 years ago, and I have been banking with them since. I got into some debt because I had a low-paying job for a while and then was drowning in interest charges. Northrop let me transfer over my debt to a WAY lower interest rate credit card to help me out. Now, they let me have a loan to pay off that credit card, to make the rate even lower, and make SURE I paid it off in a few years, at which point I will be debt-free! Because of their loan, and because I never missed a credit card payment, my credit score is now 820. Once I'm debt-free in a couple years, I will be able to start investing my money and adding to my 401k more aggressively, and possibly even buy a house within the next 5 years. I'm so grateful for them! They may be a little slower to respond than some banks, but it's a credit union with one branch, c'mon. :)

Let me say, I highly doubt that Forbes has an account with NGFCU. I have had an account with NGFCU since June of 2009. They were pretty good back then too. At this time, I can't believe how fast the customer service has plummeted in the last year or so. I call to speak to customer service and after explaining the problem I'm seeing and then receiving so many apologies, am I'm turned over to someone else who then promises me a return call, but they don't call. I end up calling again and again to try to resolve their problems. I'm retired and I don't know how anyone that works can make the time for all the calls to correct all the problems within the NGFCU and also go to their own work too? I had fraudulent charges reversed on my CC. I was told I could keep my same card. Well, after a visit to my eye doctor, my CC was indeed rejected at check out. I had to call NGFCU again, not the other way around, you would think they would call me to inform me it was canceled. So, here comes more apologies and again, no explanation. I'm the one who is sorry that now I have to go through the trouble of changing banks. I have tried to overlook NDFCU's mistakes for way too long now, Problem with them is, they do not train the employees how to do their jobs, they all just seem to learn to say, "I'm so sorry that happened to you". And that's it, no return call!!

I always enjoy working with the credit union. The folks are friendly and do their best to solve any problems. I think they deserve a five-star rating. Gwen Brock

What a disgrace to federal credit unions. My grandfather established two accounts for myself and my father. These accounts weren't utilized for many years as we moved. As I became my fathers care taker I decided to consolidate matters / accounts. I called and was instructed how to close the accounts. I mailed my requests as instructed on 03/13/23 to the address provided. They were not received. I called and was told to email the documents in which the files were too large; no matter how I tried to format the documents. I was told three separate times that a representative would call me back regarding my inquiries. I did not receive any call backs and had to continuously follow up. I faxed over the documents and they came out blurry on their end. Now I am having to mail them to another address with signature required mail option. At this point I have already spent well over $20 to ensure the documents arrived. Now I'll be adding an additional expense to close these accounts a month after my initial attempt. Absolutely ridiculous.

I heard this was a good bank to bank with but unfortunately that hasn't been the case. We were victims of fraud and when disputing our claim a worker called me and could not give me a reason to why my claim was not approved. She was so unprofessional and quite heartless. The transactions together were a total of $900 and to just tell me it was not approved and that I lost my debit card access, Zelle and website access because of suspicious behavior. I've never had an experience like that and just the way you delivered the message. I hung up and asked my husband to take care of the matter because I was just in disbelief!!Instead of investigating the transactions she gave me phone numbers to contact the companies that took my money. I was able to talk to one and they were shocked that the bank would make me do these phone calls and saw this was someone using my card Information with another name that was not mine. She refunded me the full amount but the other 6 numbers were not real companies so my husband explained this to them , they did another investigation and approved all our disputed transactions But somehow we're are still treated like criminals and don't have debit card access , we can't zelle either and quite frankly we don't live near any of their locations so it's been almost impossible banking with them. After months of struggling we talked to Sebastian at Gardena location and explained the situation. He could not give us an answer other than these restrictions are there until May of 2023 Thanks but we'll take out business else where

Banking there for over 40 years, forever to pre-approve a Home Loan kept handing it off went through four people took manager asking to get the pre-approval on paper they claim accomplished in 48 hours. Delay after delay as if to say NO and be done with it. Called again recently same B.S.Great place to park your money for last 40+ years just don't ask them for any kind of loan - their loan service department is a complete failure. My younger brother with excellent credit money in the bank asked for an RV loan of 10K told him NO because it was not a needed item it was a wanted item. Brother withdrew all of his money after going to a traditional bank who said YES to his RV loan moved his money into that bank = happy customer

They shut off my personal hrcking/savings and my joint accounts because they told me I haven't been paying off my credit cards which I have! I've been using my accounts to pay off the credit card and it's in the payment history but they still go and lock all my accounts and tell me I haven't been paying my credit card for the last 5 months.

Requested a new car loan. Was approved the next day but now it’s been 4 days and still can’t get a return email or phone call to pick up check. Called service center twice and my issue was noted as priority since Tesla is delivering my car tomorrow. Actually drove to Azusa branch to see if I could get check only to be told only employees of NG can enter credit union. So wasted an hour and gas. Called and left messages…still no response. So you can keep your money and lose the interest, Tesla approved me in 1 hour and is delivering my car tomorrow. I’ve been a member about 30 years worst service ever the last year including the software update to online banking. Guess I’ll have to move my 4 accounts.

You've got to be a subpar credit union when you have your own board of directors giving you 5 stars. & he can wimp on his reviews, but his staff can't even greet their customers.

I waited from April 2022 to July 2022 to get a debit card sent to me. Now, I cannot get access to my online account. They asked me to verify the last few purchases and I said that I cannot because I have not used the card in over 5 years. She said she can confirm that the card has not been used but cannot confirm my identity. Then, they asked me when I opened the account. Who knows? It was either 2012 when I started at NG or 2013 when I financed my old car. Guess what? I picked the wrong one. I have my social and can confirm other things but they want me to wait until a business day for someone to call me. Not happening. I gave one extra star because the manager did help me resolve the issue, but why did I have to go through a manager?! This CU is better is than my other one where you cannot reach anyone on a weekend.

If I could give zero stars I would. We applied for a heloc months ago. February 1 we received an email that the loan was conditionally approved and that it would take 4 to 6 weeks to upload to our account. It's been well over 8 weeks and we still don't have a helco. Trying to get ahold of someone to address the issue has been a headache and the person that is assigned to the loan doesn't seem to know what they are doing. We were told a week and half ago that someone would call about a notary so the heloc could get upgraded and we never heard from anyone. The person at the branch closet to us doesn't ever seem to know anything. I use to work a credit union and did helocs. It shouldn't have taken this long for us to get funds. How ridiculous.
