Honesty goes a long way and I appreciate the honesty I was shown by Paul. I brought my truck in to have (what I thought) wire work done but it turned out that a new battery is all I needed.
And then I noticed that they install lift kits for trucks?!!! I will most definitely be returning. And gracias to his Jefe for picking me up and taking me back to the shop. Good honest family business.

We went here for an oil change. We took a walk on Monterey Road while we were waiting. Service took about an hour. The staff was very friendly and informative about our vehicle's condition.

Miguel is probably one of the last honest mechanics out there. He loves what he does and he does it completely. I have gone to many shops and returned because something wasn't right. I have yet to return to have him fix whatever he fixed again.
I found my new car care spot.

Our family’s go to place for all of our car repairs. Paul is honest, reliable and extremely knowledgeable in his field of work. If he cannot fix the problem (which does not happen often) he will let you know, instead of making stuff up and gouging customers. We completely trust him and wish him much success.

I wish I could give more stars. Miguel and Lightning Auto Repair helped me out when I really needed it. They were honest, upfront about the estimated time, took me in right away, and stuck to their initial estimate when the job took a little longer.
I was stranded between SOCAL and Washington with a blown spark plug in my Ford van. I had a trailer and had already spent the night in the Autozone parking lot. I was quoted between $600 and $1000 between another mom and pop shop and 2 Ford Dealerships. Miguel had me come in, brought his tools out to the curb and did the job right away and charged me for time and parts. 1 hour, an insert, and a spark plug. $200. I almost cried.
I saw him help other people kindly as they came in to pick up cars and and I was on the road as soon as possible. People like Miguel make the world go round.
I don't know if I'll be in Gilroy again, but if you are an need help with your car, this is the place to go.

My first experience was great but the second, not so much. Sent my car in(unable to start without a jump) got it back in the same condition after spending a lot of money on a new starter. I called and the guy told me that my battery needed to be replaced and that was probably the issue. I got my battery replaced and was physically there to watch them put it in. Drove it home and went to start it a few minutes later and it wouldn’t start. I called lightning auto back again and he told me to have it towed in for a second tome. So i’ve now used 2 of my 4 tows that i get a year. I receive a call back from the guy and he told me whoever replaced my battery ruined the wiring and that it was burnt and that’s why my car wouldn’t start. I may not be a mechanic but i am also not ignorant. I would have had so much more respect for this place if they had called me and told me they messed up and somehow burnt my wiring or that they had misdiagnosed it in the first place. They put a bandaid on this mistake and my car broke down in the middle of the road (i hadn’t even driven it more than 10 miles after getting it back from the shop). I am now out of a working car and all of the money that came with them replacing my starter and not fixing the actual problem. Now i’m wondering if the starter was even an issue in the first place. Extremely disappointed and will never go back here and will also advise family and friends to avoid this business so that they get their car back in working condition. What a joke.

I would recommend this auto repair shop and Miguel was very open on every thing that needed to be done he explained every detail .I really recommend this place and I'm very pleased with their work

The auto body shop my insurance sent me to had me go to lightning to correct a steering wheel alignment issue I had after the repairs were done. Miguel had it done in an hour and took me on a test drive to confirm I was happy with the alignment. He also provided a printout of all my alignments to confirm they’re within range. I’m very happy

I am so appreciative of Miguel and his team for their help! When my partner and I were on the road, our car unexpectedly broke down, and we were left trying to find a mechanic nearby who could help us. We didn’t have a lot of options, being that it was a Saturday, and we were in a rush to get home. It was a situation that we were worried someone might try to take advantage of, however, we quickly realized that was not the case with Miguel. He quickly got to work on our car, diagnosed the issue, and gave us a timeline for any work that needed to be done. He was incredibly transparent throughout the entire process, pointing out the issue and walking us through how he would go about fixing it. Not only did he have us back on the road as quickly as humanly possible, but he even made sure to give us the contact info for a tower that could pick us up free of charge if anything ended up happening (which it didn’t).

I’ve had such an amazing experience with Miguel’s assistance. He’s an absolutely fantastic mechanic.
My SUV broke down in the middle of highway 152 on my way home to SoCal on a Saturday morning. Called Miguel out of the blue and went straight to him. He found out and took care of the coolant leak immediately. We were able to drive 400 miles home safely right after his service. He also took care of a few other service items impeccably.
I would 100% recommend anyone who is considering Lightning auto repair service. They’re friendly, experienced, reasonably priced and most importantly, they’re great people you can trust.
