Compassionate and quality care provided in our time of sadness.We had a goat that just did not look right and it was late on a Friday afternoon of a holiday weekend when I called with an emergency and they told me to come right down. Dr. Fish did an exam and X-rays and confirmed what we did not want to hear. We had already been through this once before with another animal and we knew what the outcome was going to be. She gently and respectfully recommended we consider euthanasia and gave me the time to call my wife while we spoke on FaceTime to say goodbye to our little buddy of more than five years. I held him in my lap as he went on to his next world.I would highly recommend Valley Equine Hospital to anyone with livestock or equine veterinary needs.

Friday on the day before a holiday, a rescued horse that was recovering from Colic the previous day, went down during a short walk. Very quickly Dr. Kris responded out to the Morgan Hill 17 acre pasture. The mare was named Mona Lisa after we had just seemingly got her up from a bad Colic situation. Now Mona was down. Dr. Kris quickly assessed: High fever, rapid heart beat, stomach issues, lungs had a bad sound, and it appeared her legs had nerve issues. Numerous attempts to raise Mona failed although she tried, it just wasn't going to happen. I think after a number of shots and her exam as well spending a good amount of time watching as attempts to get Mona each time failed, the "down horse is a dead horse" ultimately came true. I believe as I rescue all kinds of animals that Dr. Kris used good skills, was kind and gentle, as it required alot of time to agree to Mona being euthanized. If Mona had risen, she was headed to the hospital, but that didn't happen. You could see in Mona the desire to rise. But her legs wouldn't work to help her. I believe Wendy in the office, Dr. Kris and her female vet tech, all quickly responded and worked in an excellent manner, thus I would very much recommend their use. There is unfortunately a hard lesson learned and a caution to ALL, get a vet "immediately" to a downed horse. Although successful in getting Mona up the prior day, she had been down for at least a day and a half before the farm hand called reporting her being down. On Thursday attempts to get a vet didn't materialize but lucky on Friday I found Dr. Kris who tried to save Mona. Had we found Dr. Kris on Thursday, Mona Lisa might be walking the Earth today.
