Don't know why there are a lot of 2-stars lately, but my experience was rather smooth.
Passport office opened up around 8:05 AM and immediately people with appointments were called in.
I had everything prepared from my DS-11 form, passport photos, and other documentation needed.
I was in and out within 5 minutes time.
The employees conducting and taking passport applications did their job as anticipated. As long as you follow the directions on the government website, you should have no issues.

I am disabled and there is no access ramp for disabled people. Had to get help to get in and it was very difficult. I would give zero stars if possible.

Had to wait in line, even with an appointment. Something was wrong with the card machine, so I had to drive to the ATM to get cash and go back to pay. Other than that, it was ok.

Made an appointment online and visited the passport office in Glendale. Was greeted and served by Cindy (who was the only one working, since her co-workers called out). Cindy was sweet and smiling through the whole appointment. She helped me process my application, took my picture, made copies of my documents, and took my payments. She was professional and kind. She made it easy to order my passport!

Passport office: African American lady, comes out and gives information with a mask on, and on top the echo of old building made it not possible for me to understand what she was saying, so I didn’t fill out application properly, she kicked me out of the office and told me to make another appointment, when I could fill out this application in a minute! She could’ve sent me to the end of the line and wait, but some people are to lazy I guess, they should be grateful for their job, and if they don’t like customer service, they should go to the back and do mail or something else

Friday walk ins the line is very long. But we went as a walk in on a Wednesday and it wasn't bad. They have 3 people working which is better than most places so it moves along pretty efficiently.

The passport office functions in a frankly absurd way. They allow walk-ins BEFORE appointments, even when appointments are running way behind. They have one person doing just appointments and another doing just walk-ins, but the lady doing appointments also has to run the walk-ins line and stop her own work to call out who’s next for the walk-ins. They’re over an hour behind for people with appointments, meanwhile walk-ins are being helped that came into the main office AFTER people with specific appointment times. Ridiculous and unfair system. What’s the point of making an appointment if you aren’t going to be given priority? ADDING: I was waiting to post this until after I actually got my paperwork taken care of and when a new worker showed up they had her also work walk-ins. Walk-ins from 5 minutes ago are being helped before people who have been waiting for their appointment time for over an hour. When asked about the situation the employee snapped and walked away without listening. Completely unprofessional. If you’re coming here just do a walk-in. They do not honor appointments AT ALL and are very unkind and not understanding about it. The Sun Valley passport office is far better about honoring appointments, so if you want to be treated with respect, go there.
