Best Storage facility in Santa Barbara area hands down! I have now needed storage twice in the past 4 years because of moving and they have been such a delight to work with. Not only is the facility so clean and safe, the prices are fair and competitive- never had a rent increase- and also the staff are kind, helpful and go out of their way to help. The maintenance staff always nearby if I needed anything. I also referred my friend to the Summerland location and again such an excellent experience. Highly recommend this company and their team for storage in the SB area.

Great facilities and pricing with friendly staff. I always felt my space was secure and looked after, and friendly staff were around, visible, and available everytime I was onsite. When I need self storage in the future I will 100% come back. Highly recommend.

I've had a storage unit at GVMS for 15 years. The staff has been unfailingly helpful and courteous throughout. All of my stored items are in good shape and if I ever need storage in Santa Barbara again, I will definitely use them. An uncommonly good experience with the business.

Very helpful staff, gave a tour of the unit when I moved in, always answered any questions quickly. Units are clean, well-insulated. Elevator available for 2nd floor units. Will use them again next time I need storage!

I recently gave up my small wine locker at GVSS after approximately 18 years. I left because my rent more than doubled in 10 months. GVSS is clean, secure, and the climate control is very good. However, their business practices leave a lot to be desired. When I started renting, I offered to pay 1 year at a time, and the manager/owner said they’d give me 13 months for the price of 12. I thought this was great, win-win situations are the best! Unfortunately, despite my repeated reminders, this only worked for a couple of years, and then they stopped honoring the agreement. Instead, they consistently raised the rent in the middle of my prepaid years and required I pay the new rate immediately. Also, when I wanted to terminate, I was told there were no refunds for my prepaid rent, which I believe is against the law, but is certainly not a good business practice. After asking again, they “kindly” agreed to refund my unused rent. What a nice payback for prepaying my rent, being a long-term customer, and saving everyone time and effort! Despite bringing this to their attention, GVSS has not offered a refund for all of the years they failed to honor our agreement – maybe I’m supposed to ask them to be “kind” again. GVSS said my locker will now rent for $50/month, while they had only increased my rent to $35. At $35/month it became more cost effective for me to get a wine fridge (including electricity) and store my wine at home. For $50/month it’s MUCH better to store your wine at home and avoid rent increases, climbing a ladder to access your wine locker, driving to get your wine, and limited hours of operation (including holidays). Even if you must rent a wine locker, there are better/cheaper options in Santa Barbara.

I had a 5 star review for this establishment 8 years ago with over 550 likes but a lot has changed since then. I have deleted my review as I was recently sent an email from them to review them. They have actually emailed me twice. I have not rented from them for 4 years. Just before the pandemic they raised their prices a lot and then during the pandemic they had doubled their prices. I was a repeat customer over the decades and a local. Didn’t matter. I’m at State Street Storage where they are not asking crazy prices and consider you as a repeat and loyal local customer. Goleta Valley does not care about loyalty and being local yet they advertise themselves as local owners and how much that matters. Addendum: Now they are trying to shame me and take down my review but I stand by what I say. Their competition sent me a coupon for 10% off as a loyalty customer.

The facilities at Goleta Valley Self Storage are clean, convenient and secure. But what makes them different from other self storage sites is their amazing staff! Jasmine was friendly and quick to respond to any question or request. I highly recommend this place. Top notch!

I needed storage to begin clearing out items that I was ready to let go of but my kids thought they might want to keep. The folks at GVSS were kind and compassionate, helped me select a unit that was the perfect size, and allowed me to safely keep family treasures until the kids were able to retrieve them. Unit was clean, well lighted, and easily accessible! Great experience overall.

My daughter and her friend, students at UCSB stored all of their college related items this past summer and it was an excellent experience. The unit was roomy, super CLEAN, secure and well lit. The staff are extremely helpful, friendly and professional. We highly recommend Goleta Valley and we will store with them again!
