Wish I could give ZERO stars. I was a bank of the west custormer and it has been a great big pain in the @$$ since they took over that bank. Dealing with bmo custormer service which I have to do muiltible times every week because they suck so bad has been a time consuming pain in the @$$. I will be closing my personal and muilitble business accounts tomorrow after my last interaction with their non custormer service which you can barely understand. I truly hate this bank and would rather put my money in a hole in the groud than continue using these morons.

They defrauded me of $250. I opened my account to take part in their end of summer promo, which was an offer of $250 cash if you opened a new checking account (new customers). There were some conditions you had to meet and the bonus was paid by Jan 31st if all conditions had been met.. in all it was about 5 months from when I opened the account till payout. I met every condition like clockwork, I made absolutely sure so when no bonus showed up I called to see why. The major requirement was to have 3 consecutive months of $1000 in direct deposits into the new account, from payroll or social security.. I had 4 consecutive months that satisfied this, but they disqualified me because my payments from Instacart are under the same code type in their system as cashapp transfers, which aren't accepted. I have no way to know about these codes and if they are such a deal breaker then they need to line that out in the disclosures the way they did with Cashapp and Venmo. There is not one mention of gig companies like Instacart or Doordash anywhere in their paperwork pertaining to this bonus program. Also need to train their employees to not bait and switch customers by giving false information. I ran all of my income thru this bank and they are defrauding me of my money due to a technicality on their side that has nothing to do with me. I fulfilled their requirements, but a code keeps me from this money that they said I would get. It is not fair, unethical, bad business, and it's just plain mean.. they don't care about us, and they stole from me.

The employees at this bank are All Stars! Everyone is so helpful, informative & pleasant! We have banked here with our personal & business for over 10 years! Customer Service is fantastic!

I am sorry to see the negative and mostly older reviews. I joined this bank about 2 years ago because my previous bank was out-of-area, and I wanted a local ATM and personal service. Another big reason was their green policy to not invest in fossil fuels. So far they have been just fine; no problems with the ATM card and good communications. I hope others will give this bank a try.

Alyssa went above and beyond to help me even after I had left the location. She resolved my issue and called me to let me know after I had left. I couldn’t believe it, as I have never had such a great customer service experience before. She persisted in helping me after many times of telling her that it was fine. You can tell she really cares about the customers and is absolutely outstanding at taking care of them.

This place knows exactly what customer service is all about... Quick lines smiling faces and very helpful people.. from the paperwork they needed and the information I did not have Miss Amanda stayed happy positive and got me through it all to open my account and did it in a time I did not think was gonna b possible.... Within one lunch break she got me in and out with everything I needed..... Thank you so much Amanda and the rest of the staff for making this a very pleasant visit and changing my opinion of the banking system... Definitely the only bank I will ever return to

I love Bank of the West. I've been a customer since 1996 in Castro Valley...then I moved to Paradise. I was there for 3 weeks and my house burned in the Camp Fire...the bank also burned. I had been trying for 3 weeks to get my money from Charles Schwab in Castro Valley with no luck. It's been almost 4 weeks since the fire and I went to the branch in Grass Valley and within the hour they got ALL my funds transferred into my bank. The men at Schwab were condescending and pushy to get me in the stock market which I was clear about not wanting. When I told them I had lost everything in the Camp Fire, they did nothing to help me and made it VERY difficult to even talk to a real person. Dylan and Erich are my heroes! Just want to say that the Bank of The West in Paradise did not burn but is closed indefinitely. I wish it would open soon! Need money!

If you like your direct deposits being delayed by 2 or 3 days and dealing with the worst customer service department ever then you will love bank of the west. They handle all transactions as slow as humanly possible. It's been a nightmare. Bank where you will be treated as a customer not a 2nd class citizen.
