Great team of ladies there ! They were efficient, quick and kind to both me and my dog . I was given a few options for course of treatment and I thought the price was very reasonable!

Update .. from 1 star to 4 stars - customer service and vet service have improved enormously. So we continue to take our old dog to them. I'm grateful for the huge improvement in attitude and courtesy.1 star review ... We have been taking our small dogs here for over a decade and, until recently, I have been happy to recommend their services and care. Unfortunately, the quality of customer service has plummeted of late and I left there this morning in tears and without treatment for my dog, which could end up with a very poor outcome for him.Yesterday I got an appointment for 2.30pm. I explained that I had a work lunch hour and i was told that if I could come earlier they would fit me in. I took off extra time at work and got there at 2.20pm. 20 minutes later I reminded them that I had called and been given an appointment. I was given the party line of "we're busy and trying to fit you in". I responded with "I made an appointment" - their response "You had an appointment at 2pm and now you're a walk-in so this takes time".Me: "No, I had an appointment at 2.30pm and was told to come earlier if I could, and I did"They insisted that I had made an appointment at 2.00 which is ridiculous as I couldn’t even leave work until 2pm and left me feeling as though I was the one failing my dog.A technician came out, checked my elderly dog for a few minutes and told me that she "Didn't like his colouring and that he definitely has fluid in his abdomen, but that it would be ok for me to come back in the morning"I made an appointment in the morning for 8.30am and made a point to get there at 8.23am.By 8.45 I asked what was going on. Told "We'll send someone out to get you started"8.50am I confront someone going in and Megan comes out and repeats that "This is like a dr's office, we're taking patients as fast as we can"Me - "Why are you making appointments and telling me to get here early if possible if you're not able to see me?"I was in tears at this point. My dog is elderly, I understand that he isn't going to last forever, but I trusted this office for 10 years to assist me with my dogs quality of life and they hadn't let me down.Megan has the unpleasant job of having to handle too many patients and not enough staff. However, she could also use some communication skills training as all she did was harden her position and become uninterested and rude, basically defending the office's position instead of empathising and actually trying to get my dog in to see a vet.The last 4 appointments we have had with them, they have made us wait anywhere from 20 to 30 minutes. At one appointment, my husband had to stand in the rain for 20 minutes with our dog under his coat. Covid is hard on us all, but it's been a year. It's no longer an excuse for poor scheduling and poor communication skills. Here's the core of this relationship - I pay you good money to care for my dog, over whom I have no medical skills. You hold all the cards. You can make me wait outside, in the rain or in my car, until you're ready to see my dog. I can't protect my dog from his aging, but You, Grass Valley Veterinary Hospital, you hold all the cards. Yes, I suppose I could find another vet, but I don't want to. I want to be able to trust you as I have until recently, to care for my loved pets the way I do. And I willingly pay for that priviledge. When your customer service turns into a conveyor belt of frustration both for your clients and your staff, you're doing something wrong.Meanwhile I will have to start looking elsewhere, with a heavy heart.

We had a great visit with our new puppy. Both Vet assistant and Dr. Cortright spent plenty of time with us getting to know our pup and answering our questions. (Both actually got on the floor to get to know him on his level :)

This has to be one of the worst veterinary clinics in all of Nevada county. I brought my sick dog in because it had lost a lot of weight and was not eating. Immediately they concluded it was pyometra and wanted to do surgery the very next day after giving me a $900.00 vet bill for the days hospitalization. I didn't agree with their diagnosis and didn't return the next day for surgery. So they reported me to Animal control.

My family pets have been patients of GVVH for decades. Unfortunately the policy here now seems to be more focused on money making preventative care appointments. There is no capacity for urgent care accept by luck of appointment cancellation. There is no distinction between urgent care and emergency care (like for people) - so when your pet really needs help right away it likely means a trip to the Roseville area. Also there isn't sufficient office staff to return calls in a timely manner (never mind getting someone to answer a call) when decisions need to be made. For these reasons we are changing to another vet in the area that has more flexibility for urgent care needs. Do not be fooled by your treatment at preventative care appointments.

Ember had her teeth cleaned. everything went well, as I anticipated All the go home meds were well explained as were the results of the cleaning... one tooth cracked that had to be removed.. The staff from front office to the vets and vet techs are warm and caring and do take time to answer questions and concerns.

Without exception, every staff member we have met is polite, kind, caring, knowledgable, and compassionate. Appointments are on time and it's easy to get our sweet Charlie Pup in whenever he needs to be seen. Of course, they refused to euthanize him when his old owners were simply tired of him and did all they could to find Charlie a loving home...ours! We can't thank them enough for saving Charlie! Best. Dog. Ever.!!

Everyone at Grass Valley Veterinary Hospital is so kind, caring, and helpful. I’ve been taking my dogs there for the past 12 years. Sadly, one of my dogs had mitral valve prolapse that progressed into congestive heart failure. Whenever I called in with an emergency, they got him in right away. The appointments were never rushed, and I was always given options for treatment with no pressure to do any of them. My favorite veterinarian is Dr. Kristy Cortright. She is very knowledgeable, skilled, and compassionate. She is very supportive and takes the time to explain things in a respectful manner. She helped my dog live out his life to the fullest and was a tremendous support in helping me through the very difficult process of letting my beloved companion go. Everyone at GVVH has a true heart for animals and a genuine concern for their well-being. If you want your pets to receive quality, compassionate care this is the place to go.

I am so glad we switched to Grass Valley Vet. Used to love Mother Lode until they were bought out by VCA. They will not see long time clients in a timely manner and if you are lucky enough to get an appointment, they charge you for an emergency visit. Anyway, Grass Valley Vet has gotten my dogs in within a day or two when I call. The Vets are very caring and compassionate and the staff is so friendly and helpful.
