Enchanting little place! Inn keepers are incredibly nice, accommodating and knowledgeable of the area. We stayed in the adorable cottage. Breakfasts are fresh and delicious with 3 options to choose from, all delivered to your door. Pet friendly with adorable grounds, fire pits, covered grill area, koi pond and much more! We will definitely return.

Our stay at The Pines Inn and Cottages was nothing short of exceptional!
The cabin we stayed in was incredibly cozy, impeccably clean, and provided the perfect retreat.
Its proximity to Grass Valley downtown made exploring the area a breeze.
Tony, our host, went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and satisfaction throughout our stay.
We can't recommend this gem enough and are already planning our next visit. Thank you for an unforgettable experience!
Rooms: The cabin was amazing

Tony and Megan responded quickly to inquiries, the room was quite, comfortable, had everything needed, and the decor was outstanding. Also great location, close to the historic downtown and a short drive to Nevada City. If I could give it 6 stars I would.
Rooms: Cute and comfortable with everything you need. All really nice appliances, comfortable bed, etc.
Nearby activities: Just a mile or so to downtown Grass Valley shops and entertainment, and lots of outdoor activities in the area.
Safety: Completely safe, not a concern at all
Food & drinks: They provided a choice of breakfast basket, delivered to your room, and it was excellent.

Fantastic hotel, nicely upgraded with super cute retro style appliances, beautiful tile work in the bathroom, comfy bed, welcoming staff, working heater (visited in the winter), big TV with streaming on multiple sites with no password hassles, good wifi. I could live here for several days! The walk to downtown is farther than most, on a steep hill, but worth it.
Food & drinks: Host provided a nice breakfast basket the night before, and there were supplies for a full pot of good coffee to go with it, no sad k cups!
Noteworthy details: Beautiful upgrades to an old style motel, very cozy.

The Pines Inn and Cottages are very quaint and beautiful! Tony the owner is very kind and friendly and helpful as our original reservation didn't work online, but he accommodated us and we appreciate it!
It's a quaint little cabin-like room. The heater is awesome and Tony had it running for us to warm the place up for our arrival. We love the fun colors that were chosen for the little kitchenette area and the bathroom!! Incredibly clean room and the sheets were lovely and soft!!
Thank you! We highly recommend!

Very nice Cottage in very clean and cozy. Tony, Megan and Dot were very hospitable! This is an excellent place to get away from all the hustle and bustle of city and work life. My wife and I enjoyed an evening just casually hanging out with the owner and staff and some other guests with a couple of campfires set up at the patio with a small bar and a few guests having drinks. This place is definitely a great place to visit and worth a drive out this way! They even offer three different options for breakfast each and every day of your visit and I must say the quality was very good.Stacey and Denise

The hotel looks nice from the outside. The two staff members we met were very kind and welcoming. The down side is that this hotel room is very very tiny for the price. We could not even use the sink to brush our teeth or even wash our face because the sink was a very tiny one with no space to put anything on it like tooth paste or other necessities. The walls are super thin and you can hear everyone’s conversation. We chose this location for the free parking but other hotels in the area like Nevada city had rooms with tons of amenities for the same or less price but no parking. There were lots of outdoor bugs that we kept looking for before bed time since we would find them on the night stands and bed. Just like spiders and little bugs. The shower is a standing shower no bath tub and is super uncomfortable to use. Good water pressure.

We stayed here the last weekend in October and I got the feeling that half of the motel was closed for renovations. There was construction going on in the room next to ours, and there were a lot of old cars and piles of junk outside of half on the rooms. Our room was cute and the inn is charming. There is the potential of this being a really nice place, but it lacked basic functionality. When we got there I had to ask for towels to be placed in the room, there was not one towel in the place. There was a small kitchen that is super cute, but I had the feeling it's all for show. The stove has an oven but there were no over pans and very little cookware or cooking utensils. It would be hard to actually cook in this kitchen. We were given a continental breakfast, but there were no, napkins, Kleenex or paper towels in the room. We have to use wash cloths from bathroom as napkins during our breakfast. We were ask if we wanted them to set the fire pit area up for us, when we said that would be nice we were told us there would be a $6 fee for the firewood. No where on the website or in all of the reviews I 've read about this place, was there a mention of a $6 firewood fee. As I mentioned above this motel is charming and with a little more attention to the details, this motel has the potential of receiving a 5 star rating.

We were so glad to have discovered the adorable Pines Inn & Cottages. The rooms are well appointed and comfy, and there are so many unexpected touches, like robes; breakfast baskets and nice lotions and soaps. In the evening, we sat at the fire at the honor bar and enjoyed yummy eggnog and rum with staff member Megan. We will be back!

Second stay and loved the experience as much as the first time. A quaint, renovated motor inn of days long past. Staff was amazing, the little touches like breakfast delivered the evening before for you to prepare in the morning, the honor bar and a very comfortable bed and well appointed room. The Pines is a welcome hideaway and only a 15 minute walk to the Nevada Club and promenade. Thank you!

The cutest place I have ever stayed! The lady doing the check in was outside when we arrived. She did everything from the iPad and we were in our room in less than 5 minutes. The rooms are so cute! A little kitchenette was included in our room. You can tell the attention to little details that went into the design. They have great soap and lotions in the bathroom. The outside has a cute little setup. There are flowers everywhere, a little pond, and a fire pit. They gave us a complimentary bottle of champagne for our anniversary. We also chose from 3-4 options for a light breakfast that was included as well. We will be back!!!
