This is based solely on my food order. The crab Louis. Crab tasted fresh but for $20 I expected more crab and salad was crammed in a small bowl, made it hard to eat. The greens were chopped romaine they were yellow and bitter. I ate all the toppings but left most greens which were at least 3/4 of it. The others who I was with seem to enjoy their food...shrimp burritos, crab quesidilla, and fried fish tacos.Service was fast and friendly. It was crowded from opening at 12 on a Sunday. Clean environment. If I am.ever in the area again, I would try the grilled fish tacos.

So there are not a lot of options in Gualala, but this was the top of the list. The menu looked really good and we were not disappointed at all. Had the local rockfish fish and chips with a bowl of chowder for two of us, and it was plenty of food, and by the way, the french fries are just outstanding. I know it's a little thing, but they have Coke products which is important to me. The two women working were just fantastic, friendly, very helpful. No pressure at all. Lots of outside seating since we have the dog it was much appreciated, but there was plenty of indoor seating if the weather is bad. If you're in town, eat here. Five stars.

Hidden behind the hardware store is this little gem. We stop at least one time during our stay at Sea Ranch every year. Everything is great. Today I had Prawns and Chips. The Prawns were fresh and lightly breaded. The chips are perfectly crispy. Also recommend the calamari and the Rock fish and chips. My husband said the chowder was a good choice too

Stopped by on our road trip. We’re very excited by the reviews and the delicious sounding menu. We waited more then 45 minutes for our to go order. We ordered the crab melt, fish tacos, and the shrimp burrito. The fish tacos were the best of the three. The melt was generous and filling, but pretty spicy and the fries were limp and felt like I got yesterdays batch. The burrito only had about 3 shrimps and the whole thing tasted massively like lemons.Clearly a beloved local spot, so bummed we couldn’t give it a higher ranking, but it was pretty expensive for the quality. Maybe we just unlucky with a busy time? Or picked the wrong items?Parking: A few spots

Excellent crab Louie salad and grilled fish tacos. The calamari was fresh and had some gooey batter in the center of some clumps; this wasn’t my thing but the sauces Louie, tartar, and chipotle were well-made.

"AMAZING GRILLED AND FRIED ROCKFISH TACOS AND GRILLED ROCKFISH BURRITOS!"--A girl from Southeast San Diego.Considering Gualala is a sleepy town on the coast of California's Mendocino County with a very small variety of restaurants that are all closed by sunset, Gualala Seafood Shack is top notch. Our family recently vacationed in Gualala. My husband and our brother-in-law called in our orders and picked them up shortly before closing (at 6 PM!), so I can't comment on the service. They did say they were the only customers at the restaurant!I'm originally from San Diego, so I have a slightly higher standard of a quality fish taco than the average diner. GSS' fried AND grilled fish tacos were amazing though! This may be the first grilled fish taco I actually liked! Fresh fish with a nice sear and crust on it. I loved that the grilled and fish tacos were still distinct. My husband ordered the rockfish burrito and it was another delicious meal! I know San Diegans sometimes dog NorCal on adding rice to burritos, but it actually works in the rockfish burrito. The sauces on both kinds of fish tacos and the fish burrito were special, and I suspect they're house recipes. I was hungry from the long drive from San Jose, so I didn't take any photos of our food. Considering the rockfish on the tacos and burritos were locally caught and fresh, and that GSS is pretty much a monopoly in Gualala, expect pricing to be a little higher, which is comparable to Hawaii's average prices lol! So grateful that a friend of ours who lived in Sacramento for a few years told me, the San Diegan that Mendocino County has excellent authentic Mexican food, and he was right! GSS hits the spot after a long drive along Pacific Coast Highway!

Chowder's the best, love the toasted bread lid. Fried fish tacos were just ok. Crab melt was good but lil too heavy (def too heavy to eat alone)

Great seafood shack in Gualala. We got the crab melt sandwich and a grilled shrimp burrito. Everything was made fresh and the fries were unbeatable.

Food is great. Prices knock it down to 4 stars. Over $50 before tip for two fish and chips and one medium

Service was good and fast. Husband had the dungeness crab melt special and it was delicious. The rest of the food was also good.
