Office manager is incompetent. My cat is now dead. Thanks Lori. Self important busybody, with a special case of stupid. Dispensing inaccurate medical advice.tLori rhe office manager refused to treat my cat for worms. Four days later my cat was dead. Why? Because I didn’t curse, raise my voice or insult anybody, and they admitted I was polite on the phone. But I had informed them I thought it was rude to ignore me when I asked them a question and I was annoyed. I also said I would t let it interfere. Lori decided that they wouldn’t treat my pet, then gave me incorrect medical info. Next thing I know the cat is dead. They are pathetic and I’m considering legal action .

The team at VCA Half Moon Bay are great and really care about the wellbeing of their patients. I've had a couple of incidents with my cats and they have always been very accommodating and responsive to my questions. Their pricing is also fair and reasonable

In 1997 we adopted our first pet, a cat and Dr. McKinney was our vet through the care of 2 dogs and 3 cats. She was always professional, compassionate and caring. Then she retired. We continued to bring our pets to VCA after they took over. While the vets who have seen my pets are kind, and caring, it is obvious that VCA just wants to separate us from our money with additional tests and appointments under the disguise of wanting to do the best for our pets. Of course I want my pet to be healthy and happy and she is, but 2 well care visits a year? My health insurance plan doesn't even cover that!I was tolerating the uptick in services fairly well, but then I received a call from the receptionist advising me that VCA could no longer call in prescriptions to pharmacies outside of VCA. If I chose to go to a pharmacy outside of VCA they can email a prescription to me and I could hand carry it or mail it to the outside pharmacy. I balked at that and asked why and was told that is their new policy, but I could conveniently have the prescription filled through their pharmacy and they would be happy to call it in for me for a significant increase in cost. So I chose to hand carry the Rx to Costco to have the prescription filled, but because it was a print out from the email from my vet the Costco pharmacist said they would have to call and verify the prescription with our vet. I said sure! No problem. But when they attempted to call VCA the call went directly to messages. The pharmacist told me that unfortunately they have been having this problem for quite a while with VCA, if they call from Costco's business line, the call goes directly to messages. So while they were trying to get through to VCA I called the vets office from my cell phone, and wallah the call was answered on the first ring. VCA claims to have my pet's health in their best interest, but I completely disagree. Their practices are unacceptable.It's time to find a new vet. :/In response the "Community Management-Business Manager's" comments below: Unless I have mis-stated VCA's prescription policies in my original review, there is no sense in emailing VCA's hospital manager. I have spoken to your office staff and they were very clear on what your prescription policies are as I have discussed them with more than one individual at your office and questioned the reason of why the change and was told this now our policy. No other explanation was given.

Ridiculous! We just took our dog in for an ear infection. they looks at his ear, gave him meds and charged us $600. A joke!

They seem to really care here. My dog went from terrified of the vet to napping in the exam room. They examined our dog in front of us and gave him his vaccinations without him even noticing. That’s how it should be and unfortunately it’s been hard to find, but this place was good. It was a bit pricier than some other places but worth it for the quality of care and comfort I felt my dog got. Dr. Griffith was knowledgeable and clearly an animal lover.

VCA Half Moon Bay Animal Hospital is amazing! Our dogs have so much anxiety going to the vet and the staff was so wonderful with them. They had such a calming and caring nature that our dogs could pick up on. Dr. Mays and the vet tech were so good with our Rudy. He was more calm than I have ever seen him at an vet visit. Thanks again VCA Half Moon Bay!

Our local pet hospital closed on short notice and we were scrambling to find care for our senior beagle. VCA Half Moon Bay Animal Hospital was able to help us establish care with little delay. Only a few days after they first saw her, her health took an unexpected downturn. They were able to get her in for another appointment the following day and to prescribe pain medication for her. When it became clear that she was at the end of her life, Dr. Rollin and her team were so compassionate and supportive. They took excellent care of our pet and, frankly, of our family. When and if we welcome another pet into our home, we will definitely take them to VCA Half Moon Bay Animal Hospital for care.

I was so pleased and impressed with HMB Animal Hospital. They were super nice on the phone and even nicer in person. The Doctor was nice and the place was immaculate.They also were able to give the antibiotics to us on the spot. Quick painless visit for Dog and great experience for me!

I needed to have a clients dog seen urgently . Parents were in Africa ... Not only was this clients dog seen the same day . They were very accommodating to my requests .. Excellent follow up and Dr Griffith was amazing .. Thank you for an stellar experience ...
