November 2024 by TT GTO
I have a 2006 GTO that I had an unfortunate motor failure in where the motor was unusable, Ochs Performance royaly messed up an LS7 I bought from them and proceeded not to fix anything, that’s where Jake and Kohle step in, I called them up and talked with them and they said to ship the motor and they’d get it started. So my dad and I made the decision to pack the motor up and drive to California from Maryland to see the place, 3days later we met all the guys at AHP and they couldn’t believe we came all that way lol. But the facility is awesome, the equipment alone speaks volumes on the operation. They ended up building me a 442 CUI LS7 with 24x reluctor, wet sump, so that it was plug and play with my car and I just got the car done and needless to say it’s perfect. I’m forever thankful for Khole and his team for getting me right and making my dream engine swap a reality

I really had hoped the outcome of bringing my business to this shop would have been different based on the cost alone. They say you get what you pay for and I definitely paid a lot. I'll keep it short and sweet
Pros: Everyone seems cool, and they know their stuff when it comes to modding cars.
The car was eventually finished and cranks up and is at least somewhat drivable.
Cons: The engine rebuild process took 2 years to complete. It smokes pretty bad when it's idling. They charged me roughly $600 to install a catch in the car incorrectly, which is causing the continuous smoking issue. The catch can just flops around, because it was secured with double sided tape, instead of the mounting hardware it came with.
Several components weren't even bolted down, kind of just laying there in place. The other items were barely even hand tightened if that. Engine is leaking coolant, or at least I thought it was coolant. I drained the system to find out it's just water. They charged me for coolant on the invoice, but opted to use water instead. Lastly the missing/stolen parts that were with the car when it was dropped off, but now they're just gone at this point.
Overall as I stated the build took 2 years to complete, but man it's so much stuff wrong here that it seems like it was really rushed towards the end. Now I'm sure this isn't every customers experience based on their other reviews, but man did I get the wrong side of the stick on this one.
I'm sure I'll find more stuff as I take my time and go through the car, but yeah this is what a $30k build gets you these days. If you're reading this don't be lazy like I was and stay local. Get your car shipped out of state and spend less money for a much better outcome.

I just bought a 2010 Corvette Z06 from an out of state dealership a few months ago. The salesman initially sent me many photos of the car and through them i could see AHP branding on the engine. So I emailed Kohle the vin and sure enough they did the work to the car in house so he had all the records. I was initially a little apprehensive about buying the car because it had more mileage (29000) than i wanted because of the known LS7 engine issues. But thankfully that's not concerning to me anymore due to the work done. Although i never personally spent a dime with his company he took the time to answer all of my questions. Since it left his shop the previous owner put about 6000 miles on it in 3 years and the thing is a beast. I've had to replace the oil cooler lines because of a small oil seep but other than that the motor is great. When/If it comes time for a refresh it's going back to AHP.

In 2018, I bought a 2008 Corvette Z06. One of my biggest concerns in buying a vehicle with the LS7 motor was making sure that the factory issues with the cylinder heads had been addressed. Luckily for me, the car I was looking at had this already taken care of with the American Heritage Performance "Package 4" upgrade, which addresses the well-known valve guide issues that are known to be a point of failure with these engines. The car's seller provided me with paperwork showing that the car had indeed had this package installed. After doing my own extensive research, I found that this package (and AHP in general) was spoken very highly of, and I felt confident that the car would not have any issues.
And I was right! From 2018 to 2022, I daily drove that car without a second thought, and put approximately 40k miles on it. TRUE daily driver - rain or shine, year round, everything from getting groceries to date nights, and PLENTY of "spicy" driving. The car was a champ. I never had a single issue - the car performed flawlessly, no unusual noises, no ticking, no nothing - it never skipped a beat. I would defer to AHP on their recommendations for maintenance but personally on my car the valve covers never came off during the entire time I owned it. I really felt confident driving that car the way I did because once that factory weak point had been addressed, it was good to go. AHP has really done the legwork in putting together a well thought-out package that for me, made it possible for me to use my all time dream car as a reliable daily driver.
Buy with confidence - AHP are the experts. I can personally attest to this because I put their experience and know-how to the test, over a significant level of mileage.
Also I almost forgot to mention - I'm still subscribed to CarFax "Car Care Dashboard" VIN updates on that car for whatever reason. Whoever bought the car after I traded it in to the dealership, has continued to put significant mileage on it, presumably as a daily driver.

After looking around for a reliable LS shop in the LA-region, I'm so pleased to have given my C5 to them. They took their time and went over and addressed everything I asked about and went above expectations to make sure the block runs smoothly.
Having owned many Vette's himself, Kohle's knowledge, experience and his enthusiasm allows for a relationship-based experience with trust - versus the transactional-like salesman experience I got elsewhere. His staff are also polite and professional and they also treat your baby like it's theirs. My Vette runs like new again. Just in time for summer! If you have a Vette/LS motor, these guys know what's up.

Great place to do business. Kohle is great about getting back to you with answers to any questions you might have. If you need LS engine service AHP is good choice.

By a long shot the best customer service I ever received from a company. Kohle answered every single email with not only a response but an explanation. He gave my concerns his time and attention. I will be a returning customer and will recommend his company. Parts showed up well packaged and worked great. Was missing an item as my order was large and after a quick email that part was just about over nighted to me. Appreciate all the work and time from this place. Highly recommend.

They seem like good guys and I've known them for years, but frankly I can't recommend them anymore as it's taken them YEARS to nearly finish my car. They broke a cylinder head, and it took over 2 years to get a replacment to finish my engine build, and there were always excuses as to why it wasn't getting worked on. Now the car is supposedly "mostly done" and I can't even get a date or dollar amount to pick it up. If you want to keep your car, I'd go somewhere else.Update after Kohle's response: appreciate you finally giving me my car back but your comment is at best 25% accurate. I helped consult on ways to grow the business, lent you tools and helped setup distributor accounts. I was patient for several years and didn't want to push you to rush the as business grew, but you know damn well I kept in touch regularly. I have all the emails, texts & communication records to prove that (including all the messages I sent that you never replied to for months each time). Also, you very well know your machinist broke one of the new heads I purchased for the custom new engine build (which was paid for in advance) and it took you 2- 3 years to replace the head to even finish the long block. Once we finally got the head resolved & agreed to wrap it up to get the car out I informed you several times to give me a $$ you were comfortable with or give me estimates for any "extra work" that I would owe you for. Never ever was any new estimate provided... I even said a few times to just "give me the car back and I'd finish it myself", but you wanted to honor your original decision & finish it to protect us both to make sure the engine "worked". Fast forward several YEARS later, and many dozens of ignored texts & messages and here we are (oh and BTW the car still doesn't run). Not to mention I'm missing the return of approx $15k of parts, including things like the complete original LS7 engine, Corsa mufflers, Katech carbon undertray, fender liner, stock hood, driveshaft, lost key, new T&D shaft rockers, Holley valve covers, ZR1 injectors, and possibly more as I'm still going through what's "not on" the car. After several years of delays, regardless of how you feel you know darned well you can't put this on me!

Kohle and the team got me in and out, installing my cat back exhaust on my C8. Super friendly team there, super professional and have the personal touch! Looking forward to bringing my beauty back there for more work!More Work: Took my C8 in for headers + ceramic coating, high flow cats, intake, intake manifold, throttle body, lowering springs, spacers, wing install. Lots of work. We ran in to some issues with the throttle body, and Kohle and the guys coordinated sending that back to get fixed/replaced, and it went fantastic. The quality of the build, everything to torque spec. It feels like a new car, and I could NOT be happier with the service I experienced. This is the only shop I will take my C8 to. If you want modifications done right the first time, look no further! Thanks a ton guys!!

Turned my car into a beast with a .665 lift cam in a streetcar. The heads, intake manifold, cam and everything else involved for my build from AHP were the highest quality. Even from across the country, Kohle was responsive and helpful with overcoming any challenges we faced building the car. Couldn’t be happier with the setup, and could not recommend AHP enough.

I just wanted to share this with fans of the LS7 engine. I have been running a set of refurbished LS7 heads from AHP with the MoldStar 90 valve guides for just over 20,000 miles over a 3 year period. Tearing down engine top to do another cam upgrade and change valve springs allowed me to do a proper detailed inspection of my valve guides for wear. Wear is non existent, with less than 0.001" radial play measured with Starret dial indicator. This is nothing short of amazing and I am a believer in AHP and their application of the MS 90 valve guides. Thanks Kohle, for awesome service, products and a great friend to the LS community.

Maybe they're OK for small projects, but for big ones, you'll be lucky if you ever see your car again. Many years and thousands of dollars later, I'm still left without my Z06 and they ignore most of my communications. I can't even get an answer out of them for the final bill or when I can pick up my car!
