I went here from kindergarten all the way to 8th grade, I liked my classmates and MOST of my teachers except for like a handful who were really mean. One of the things I remember most about this school is the way the office personnel handled situations. I graduated from this school back in 2014 so I don't know who's gotten fired or retired since then. But when I was in the 4th grade, my mom (single mother of 3 who worked full time everyday) bought me these really nice white shoes that had small silver charms on top that made me really happy as a little girl. I begged for these shoes. Fast forward a week or so, my whole class got in trouble for playing with water orbeez (they threatened to call Hawthorne PD on us because of these little water balls ) and so I was sitting in the office getting yelled at very fiercely by the principle (Whelan) and this other lady who worked in the office who was in charge of all the money coming through (Ms Rutherford) . I was a good kid, my mom worked too hard for me to be acting up in school. Trust me when I say that nothing evil or malicious was intended when these water orbeez were brought to school. We were all just kids, excited about a new trendy toy. I want to compare them to today's pop its, they're just fun to have. Anyway, I was sitting in the principal's office amongst my entire 4th grade class when the lady in charge of money (Rutherford) stomped over to me and yelled in my face to take off my shoes. As a 9 year old, I was really embarrassed that I had to take my shoes off in front of everyone. My socks were ripped. Kids were laughing. Rutherford came back a couple minutes later and gave me my shoes back.... she had broken the charms off my new shoes. My shoes were very obviously tampered with and they looked so ugly to me after that. I felt sick to my stomach and scared to go back home with my new shoes in that condition. I never wore them again. And I'll always remember that.

Would like to start off by saying that Mr. Donohue is amazing and he is the reason that we are very happy to be part of the Saint Joseph Family. Would definitely recommend for any new families to consider taking a tour of our amazing school!

My older kids have attended the school back in the early 2000 and back at it again for my youngest child. So happy to keep my child in a private school where learning our faith is just as important. Glad that the education provided is helpful in challenging their abilities.

This school was alright. Except that Mr ubrkight or whatever her name is, DOES not know how to have patience with kids or how to treat kids, she was so disrespectful. Glad this year is her last year. I only ever had 2 good teachers here. Ms haro and Mr brown, forever will thank them :), but anyways that whole year i spent in this school was horrible, i hated it so much and even other kids i know from this school agree with me. I definitely didnt wanna let my brother bring his children here.

This is a wonderful school community with dedicated staff and teachers. The school offers a well balanced curriculum and a wide range of activities for all ages. During Covid communication has been regular and the school was able to reopen safely to all students to close out the year.

I would encourage those families seeking a family oriented school culture and community to come to St. Joseph School. I currently have a child in 2nd grade and a TK student, who by the way began his school journey as a remote learner, thrilled and happy attending this school. Aside from the academic excellence provided, they are introduced to the arts through music, drama, Spanish, art, and physical education. Advanced Technology has been a key component bringing this school to the 21st century as well. St. Joseph has been in constant communication with parents and demonstrates the value of our opinion in improving its practices. Teachers are professional and genuinely care about students. I Would definitely recommend this school!

My child has had a great experience so far at St. Joseph's School. Principal, Teachers and Office staff work very closely with both children and their families. Positive school with a positive attitude in education!

My son has been attending St. Joseph school since kindergarten. The school has met and superseded my expectations especially during COVID. The teachers were able to jump right in and start virtual teaching seamlessly. My son was always engaged and happy. The Teachers and staff are amazing. I just can't say enough about this school. I highly recommend this school.

My son is now in the first grade at St. Joseph. We first came to visit at an Open House. Other students were giving us a tour of the campus. I was impressed by how literate, polite, and well-spoken they were. I thought this is exactly how I would like for my son to grow up to be. That same day, I felt a sense of family and a strong sense of community. I have developed closed friendships with other parents since then. My son's best friend is his classmate; it looks like they will be friends for many years to come, thanks to Joseph. Do the right thing, enroll your children at St. Joseph!

I grew up studying in a Catholic school and as a parent, I wanted the same quality education that I had been given to pass down to my children.I am very happy that I have the opportunity to enroll my child at Saint Joseph School as it has given my son the same quality of education that I had and also taught him to be a good Catholic.Mr. Donohue, our principal, is very professional and friendly at the same time. With my experience, he never leaves any of my emails unanswered. He helps a lot in informations that I need and if we needed guidance/assistance.I can say that they have very competent teachers who are also understanding and very flexible on my child's needs, pandemic or not!School staffs are highly trained, resourceful and helpful. I never had a bad experience with them. Very knowledgeable, friendly and polite in phone or in person. From the principal, teachers, staffs and Fr. Greg as well as the Church staffs, they are highly trained professionals with a HEART!

My granddaughter has attended St. Joseph School since Pre-K. She is now in 6th grade. Her growth over this period has been amazing to watch. The teachers are effective and demonstrate a caring attitude toward students. The communication with parents has been top notch especially during the pandemic. I receive emails daily from each of my granddaughter's teachers and through gradelink, I am able to monitor her progress. The database is kept up to date.I like that she has built a strong Catholic foundation in addition to having a good command of the core content areas. The distance learning has been extremely rigorous and the expectations are high. The school also provides supplemental services for students in need of counseling and has partnered with a third party for the Arts. I strongly recommend this school to parents seeking an inclusive environment with a strong academic program that takes into consideration the social and emotional needs of a child as well as the contributions each child makes to the community as a responsible citizen.

I used to go here from pre-school to 6th grade. I’m not just writing this because I’m mad at the school, this is my genuine opinion about the school. I personally feel like the teachers are not very passionate about teaching, it just feels like they want to get their job done and get out. I feel that the school was at its prime from 2010-2014. In this time period all the grades felt like a family, there was so much harmony between all the students. After this period it felt like everything went downhill and students were having to deal with a lot of disrespect from other students. But I don’t know that’s just me.
