Bar 717 Ranch is a charming summer camp and event location nestled in the heavily forested Trinity Alps of Northern California. For over 90 years, it has welcomed children and families to enjoy nature, make friends, and have fun in a peaceful, natural setting. The ranch offers a gentle, loosely structured experience that captures the magic and freedom of childhood, without forced activities or over-the-top cheers. Instead, it provides a magical summer on a beautiful property where kids can be in nature, under the stars, and feel like part of a small family. Many campers attend year after year, forming lifelong friendships and experiencing personal growth. The camp features a variety of activities such as archery, riflery, horseback riding, pottery, arts and crafts, swimming, and hiking, all enjoyed in a relaxed atmosphere. The food is highly praised for being delicious, and the environment feels welcoming and comfortable, almost like a nice hotel in nature. The property itself is vast, with well-maintained buildings, comfortable sleeping platforms and dormitories, showers, a large dining hall, a pond, swimming holes, and an amphitheater. About half of the land functions as a working ranch, with livestock, gardens, and crops. The staff are friendly, professional, and unobtrusive, making guests and campers feel at home. In addition to summer camps, Bar 717 Ranch hosts a few weddings and group events, providing a beautiful setting with amenities that cater to celebrations. Visitors often describe it as a heartwarming, delightful place that creates a memorable experience for all ages, whether for a camp or a special gathering.
An absolute gem that changed my life and members of my family who attended. Unmitigated paradise.

This is my favorite place in the world, I have been going for 4 years and each time is a new experience. My grandma worked here in this '80s and my dad and aunt were campers. I strongly recommend the Outpost program, and you can read my story on their website. It is under the name Everett Watterson
